BRITISH CAR SHOWDOWN Saturday, June 26, 2021 Welcome to the British Car Showdown at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course! We appreciate your efforts to prepare for this event. This show will be a popular vote format among the participants. Please make sure you have picked up a voting ballot from registration. We want everyone to have fun, so every effort will be made to keep this show low-key and as enjoyable as possible. ________________________________________________________________________________________________ IMPORTANT INFORMATION . PLEASE READ! 1) PARKING: Please park your car in the designated class in which you would like your car judged. There is also a general parking corral for miscellaneous British vehicles. 2) JUDGING CLASSES: Listed below are all the classes for which awards will be presented. First, second and third place awards will be presented to each class. You will need to display the top half of the registration form on your windshield to enter the track for the parade lap on Saturday. -

Dear SCCA Media Partners, Welcome to what is truly a new era of the Sports Car Club of America, as the SCCA National Champi- onship Runoffs heads west for the first time in 46 years to Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. This event, made possible with the help of our friends and partners at Mazda and the Sports Car Rac- ing Association of the Monterey Peninsula (SCRAMP), was met with questions at its announcement that have been answered in a big way, with more than 530 drivers on the entry list and a rejunvenaton of the west coast program all season long. While we haven’t been west of the Rockies since River- side International Raceway in 1968, it’s hard to believe it will be that long before we return again. The question on everyone’s mind, even more than usual, is who is going to win? Are there hidden gems on the west coast who may be making their first Runoffs appearance that will make a name for themselves on the national stage, or will the traditional contenders learn a new track quickly enough to hold their titles? My guess is that we’ll see some of each. -

THE HISTORY OF MG SPORTS CARS The Beginning of Morris Garage Property of the British Car Club of Southwest Florida 1 THE HISTORY OF MG SPORTS CARS • William Morris opened his company, Morris Motors Limited in England in 1912. • A subsidiary of this company was called Morris Garages. •This name would eventually be shortened to MG when Morris Garages started manufacturing cars in 1923. •The first MG had a 4-cylinder, 750-cubic-centimeter engine and could do 82 mph. Property of the British Car Club of Southwest Florida 2 THE HISTORY OF MG SPORTS CARS 1924 MG 14-28 Sports Property of the British Car Club of Southwest Florida 3 THE HISTORY OF MG SPORTS CARS • In 1928 the creation of a new company called the MG Car Company was formed, due to the success of the first MG sports car. • New improvements were first introduced in a prototype car, then later were incorporated into a racing model of the car and finally, the road model. • The M Type Midgets were the first production line MG to be built and had a fabric body, which later became steel; built between 1928 – 1932 with 3,235 produced. • The C, D & F Types were introduced in 1931. •The popular J Type and the famous K Type racer were introduced in 1932, along with the L Type.
