Wales meet Bosnia and Herzegovina for the first time in a competitive fixture, with the 2014 FIFA World Cup finals contenders eager to atone for a false start in UEFA EURO 2016 Group B. Match background • The sides' only previous meetings were in friendly matches; a 2-2 draw in Cardiff in 2003 and a 2-0 win for Safet Sušić's visitors in Llanelli on 15 August 2012 when Vedad Ibišević and Miroslav Stevanović were on target. • Wales, who edged to a 2-1 win in last month's Group B opener in Andorra, have had the better of the nations' meetings in UEFA age-group tournaments, boasting the record W4 D1 L2. The countries' clubs have yet to meet in UEFA competition. • Bosnia and Herzegovina coach Sušić, whose side lost 2-1 at home to Cyprus in the first game of Group B, took on Wales as a Yugoslavia player, his side drawing 1-1 in Cardiff in a UEFA European Championship qualifier on 14 December 1983. • Bosnia and Herzegovina were unbeaten in five 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifying away games (W4 D1).

5 Wales - Bosnia and Herzegovina Friday 10 October 2014 - 20.45CET (19.45 local time) Match press kit Cardiff City Stadium, Cardiff Head coach Chris Coleman Date of birth: 10 June 1970 Nationality: Welsh Playing career: Manchester City FC, Swansea City AFC, Crystal Palace FC, Blackburn Rovers FC, Fulham FC Coaching career: Fulham FC, Real Sociedad de Fútbol, Coventry City FC, Larissa FC, Wales • A solid defender, Coleman came through the youth ranks at Manchester City but started his career in earnest with home-town team Swansea, where he won Welsh Cups in 1989 and 1991. • Picked up the first of 32 caps for Wales while at Crystal Palace, where he occasionally served as a makeshift striker, before joining then reigning English champions Blackburn in 1995 for an injury-ravaged two-year stay. • A broken leg sustained in a car crash in 2001 when Coleman was playing for Fulham effectively ended his playing days, but he was brought on to the club's coaching staff, taking the top job after a successful stint as caretaker in 2003. • After leaving Fulham in 2007, Coleman headed abroad to manage first Real Sociedad and then Larissa either side of a spell at Coventry. • Hired as Wales manager in January 2012 following the death of former team-mate , Coleman signed a two-year extension in November 2013, committing to lead the principality through UEFA EURO 2016 qualifying. Safet Sušić Date of birth: 13 April 1955 Nationality: Bosnian Playing career: FK Krivaja Zavidovići, FK Sarajevo, Paris Saint-Germain, Red Star FC Coaching career: AS Cannes, İstanbulspor AŞ, al-Hilal FC, Konyaspor, MKE Ankaragücü, Rizespor, Ankaraspor, Bosnia and Herzegovina • An outstanding attacking midfielder with an eye for the killer pass and an excellent scoring record, Sušić spent nine years with Sarajevo. Yugoslavia's Footballer of the Year in 1979, he was the Yugoslavian First League's joint-top marksman with 17 goals in 1979/80 as Sarajevo finished runners-up. • Moved to Paris in 1982 and played for nine seasons in the French capital, becoming one of the country's finest-ever footballing imports and helping his side win the French Cup in his first term and the league title in 1985/86. • A long-time stalwart of the Yugoslavia national team, Sušić made his first appearance in 1977 and his last in 1990. Claimed 21 goals in 54 appearances and featured at the 1982 and 1990 FIFA World Cups as well as the 1984 UEFA European Championship. • Launched coaching career in France with Cannes before taking jobs in Istanbul and Riyadh. Eventually settled in Turkey, where he coached four clubs between 2004 and 2008. Named Bosnia and Herzegovina's Golden Player as part of UEFA's jubilee celebrations in 2004, he succeeded Miroslav Blažević as national coach in December 2009. • With Sušić at the helm, Bosnia and Herzegovina reached the qualifying play-offs for UEFA EURO 2012, losing out to Portugal. They then topped their group to seal a spot at the 2014 World Cup – the nation's first qualification for a major tournament – and, after narrow defeats by Argentina and Nigeria, overcame Iran 3-1 to bow out on a high note.

:: Team facts

EURO finals: The UEFA European Championship was a four-team event in 1960, 1964, 1968, 1972 and 1976 (when the preliminary round and quarter-finals were considered part of qualifying).

From 1980 it was expanded to an eight-team finals and remained in that format in 1984, 1988 and 1992 until 1996, when the 16-team format was adopted. UEFA EURO 2016 was the first tournament to be played as a 24-team finals.

Records of inactive countries A number of UEFA associations have been affected by dissolution or splits of member associations. For statistical purposes, the records of these inactive countries have been allocated elsewhere: therefore, all Soviet Union matches are awarded to Russia; all West Germany – but not East Germany – matches are awarded to Germany; all Yugoslavia and Serbia & Montenegro matches are awarded to Serbia; all Czechoslovakia matches are allocated to both the Czech Republic and Slovakia.

Abandoned/forfeited matches For statisical purposes, when a match has been started and then abandoned but later forfeited, the result on the pitch at the time of abandonment is counted. Matches that never started and were either cancelled or forfeited are not included in the overall statistics.
