9. Peter 3 Vaught (Matthias 2 , John 1 ) was born May 30, 1774 in Horry County, South Carolina, and died November 1867. He married Mary Sweet, daughter of Anthony Sweet.
Notes for Peter Vaught: Peter lived on a plantation near his father, between Wampee and Red Bluff. He served as Sheriff of Horry County, a member of the Congress and carried the honorary title of Colonel Peter Vaught. He was also a teacher in the River Planter School.

Notes for Soloman Vaught: Soloman was an active member of Providence Methodist Church, which he was instrumental in establishing. He and his wife are buried in the old church cemetery with no markers. His obit read, Departed this life at Dogwood Neck, Upper All Saints Parish, SC, April 19/1850m in the 78th year of age.

Notes for Joseph Vaught: Joseph lived for a short time, west of what is now Nixon's Cross Roads. He was a member of the Board of Trustees of Old Cedar Creek Church, to which he deeded one half acre of land in 1830. He and brother Peter was executor of his fathers estate. Joseph moved before 1850 to Florida, where his children married.

She married William B. Haynes; died in Buried at Hampton, Bradford County, Florida. 34 iv. Armlain Vaught. Notes for Armlain Vaught: Not sure he is the son of Joseph. He was one of the first dentists in the state of Florida. He trained his nephew, Joseph Oril Haynes, and together they traveled over the countryside in a wagon visiting towns and farms. In turn, Joseph's son Othma Haynes, Sr. went to dental college and became the third generation of Vaught descendants to practice dentistry in Starke, Florida.
