W 2009 roku Carlos Tavares został mianowany wiceprezesem wykonawczym, przewodniczącym Management Committee Americas i prezesem Nissana na Amerykę Północną, a następnie objął funkcję dyrektora operacyjnego Nissana, którą pełnił do 2013 roku.
