Updates from Shelter partners WVI . NFI set distribution (2 tarps. 2 blankets, 2 mosq nets, 2 sleeping mats, 1 bucket, 1 hygiene kit, 1 solar light, 2 jerricans, acquatabs): - Completed in 15 VDCs: Baseshwor, Bhuwaneshor, Bitijor, Pokhari, Dudbhanjyang, Khangsang, Solpathana, Kholagaun, Bahuntilpung, Lampantar, Jarayotar, Balajor, Ratanchura, Jalkanya, Tinkanya. - To be finalized in Tosramkhola. Criteria for beneficiary selection: Figures from District Technical Office used as cap figure for distribution in each VDC. However, compilation of beneficiary list through consultation with VDC Sec retary, political leaders at VDC level and Ward citizen forums. Asking them to provide list of people in need of shelter support living in the VDC. Plan for distribution of CGI Sheets (2 bundles/family) to 841 HHs in 5 VDCs: Bitijor, Dudbhanjyang, Tinkanya, Baseshwor, Pokhari. 168 bundles already procured by WVI and received in Sindhuli. CARITAS . Distribution of NFI sets to 6,575 HHs completed: - Target VDCs: Netrakali (694), Tamajor (500), Santhiswori (503), Pipalmadi (1,392), Amale (454), Bastipur (623), Baseshwor (690), Hariarpur (569). Mahendraj (1,086), Sitalpati (82). Criteria for beneficiary selection: handed to those fully damaged HHs. Caritas did not use the beneficiary lists/estimations based on the categorization (fully/partially damaged) applied by the government. They reassessed all the houses in the areas where they conducted distribution. Plan for distribution of 400 bundles of CGI sheets (donated by CRS). Not yet received and not sure about delivery timeline. CGI sheets will tentatively be distributed in Baseshwor VDC (very affected! Large number of HHs in need of temporary shelter) Both WVI and CARITAS have plans to distribute CGIs in Baseshwor. However, neither agency has a quantity of CGIs large enough to cover the entire caseload. Therefore need for joint distribution. Government-led temporary relocation for monsoon season SC Hub Coordinator asked meeting participants what the latest updates in the temporary relocation process in Sindhuli are and whether authorities had asked from support from the humanitarian agencies working in the district. Participants replied that no informative meeting was called by the authorities and no relocation has so far occurred, except for Netrakali VDC. However, none of the participants has been there recently, being the VDC inaccessible by vehicle. SC Hub Coordinator informing participants that OCHA just released guidelines for engagement with district authorities in case requests for support from agencies are formulated. Establishment of regular District Shelter Cluster meetings Decision by the meeting participants that from now onwards District SC Meeting will take place on a bi - monthly basis (Thursday 11 AM at WVI in Sindhuli). They will be open to shelter agencies and non -shelter agencies which are interested in discussing shelter issues. Need to involve DDRC. However, in order to avoid interference/pressure by party leaders at District level, it is recommended the CDO appoint a government official (not party leader) who will be the government focal point for shelter and will attend SC meetings. In its capacity as Shelter FP in the Sindhuli, NRCS should approach the CDO and put forward such a request. Action Items Person Responsible Deadline Approaching the CDO, informing him about the establishment of regular SC Meetings and asking him to appoint a government official NRCS 22/07/2015 from District Technical Office as Shelter FP. .
