THE CITY of FLORENCE STARTING from the 1St of JANUARY 2012 D DELEGATIONS RECEIVED BY THE CITY OF FLORENCE STARTING FROM the 1st OF JANUARY 2012 JANUARY 2012 1. 14/01: Welcome to the Abdelmoez Hassan Abdelgadir, Minister of Urban Development of the State of Kassala in South Sudan. The delegation was further composed of Elgizoli Mohamed Aabbas Fadlelmola, General Director of Fund Housing and Construction, and the two engineers Elkhal Wati Elsharif Elnour Elzaki and Hani Abdelhamid Merghani Abdelkarim. They were welcomed by the Deputy Mayor and offered a gift (the Minister was given a book on the treasures of Florence). The delegation also visited the Quartieri Monumentali. FEBRUARY 2012 2. 14/02: Welcome to Mariano Perez Claver, the Spanish president of the NH Hotel-group and Jose Maria Basterrechea, the managing director of NH Hotel Italia. They had a meeting with Mayor Renzi about the developing opportunities in Florence. The NH-group has three hotels in the city and made some suggestions about possible projects. Furthermore, the economy of tourism in general was discussed, after which the delegation visited the Salone dei 500. 3. 15/02: Welcome to the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea, Young-Seok Kim, and his political advisor Park Ho. The Ambassador and his advisor were welcomed by the Mayor and subsequently accompanied during a visit to Palazzo Vecchio. 4. 17/02 : Welcome to the Ambassador of New Zealand, Mr. Trevor Donald Matheson, and his wife, who were visiting Florence on the occasion of the presentation in the Salone dé Dugento “21 July-4 August 1944: the days of the liberation. The New Zealandian troups from San Donato to the gates of Florence”. Also present were the President of the City Council, the President of the Province of Florence, the Regional Counsellor Nencini and the Mayors of S. Casciano, Tavarnelle and Scandicci. They were picked up at the station and in the afternoon taken on a guided tour in Palazzio Vecchio. 5. 29/02 Organisation of a Seminary at the request of and in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in the field of the program China-EU Public Administration Project (CEPA II). Twelve Chinese functionaries were received in the Sala Incontri for further elaboration on the structure, functioning and organisation of the City, with special attention for the structure of public employment and the criteria of transparency and participation of the citizens in the decision making process. The Seminary was carried out in collaboration with the direction of Human Affairs and the secretary of General Affairs. Given the fact that there was a person present with the rank of Vice Minister, there was an institutional welcoming by the Deputy Mayor and an exchange of gifts (the Vice Minister was given a paperweight of Picchiani and Barlacchi and a print of Palazzo Vecchio, to all the members of the delegation was given a guidebook to Florence in Chinese, material on Palazzo Strozzi in Chinese, stationary with pen and a reproduction of the map of China from the room with geographic maps). MARCH 2012 6. 01/3 Welcome to an International delegation for Publiacqua and guided tour of Palazzo Vecchio. 7. 05/03 Welcome to a delegation of Bosnian mayors in the presence of Assessor Giachi. A guided tour of Palazzo Vecchio and the “Percorso di Ronda”. 8. 05/03 Welcome to the Russian president of the Commission of Transportation Sergey Shishkarev and a meeting with Mayor Renzi and counsellor Mario Razzanelli. The topic of conversation was the possibility of having a direct flight between Florence and Moscow and the relations between these two cities. 9. 08/03 Commemoration ceremony for the Florentines who have been deported to Mauthausen, 68 th anniversary. Welcome to and assistance to the delegation of Mauthausen, Mayor Thomas Punkenhofer and councillor during the commemoration in Piazza Santa Maria Novella and the following march to platform 6 of the SMN Station. Also present were the councillor of mobility, Mattei, the councillors of the province and the region and the peace commission of the City of Florence. 10. 09/03 Welcome to a delegation on behalf of the Deputy Mayor. Guided tour of Palazzo Vecchio and the Quartieri Monumentali. 11. 11/03 Welcome to a delegation. The producers of the Canadian television network CBC met with the Mayor and were taken on a guided tour of Palazzo Vecchio and the Quartieri Monumentali. 12. 13/03 Welcome to a delegation of Dubrovnik (Croatia) - attended by the Councillor of Labour Politics, Intergenerational Solidarity and Family of the county of Dubrovnik, Ms. Nina Skuric. It was a study visit about work politics, youth education and social economic inclusion linked to a project financed by the European Union - on behalf of the President of the Commission of Equal Opportunities Federica Giuliani. Also present: a representative of the Employment Center of Dubrovnik, Mr. Dasen Jasprica, a representative of the Chamber of Commerce of Dubrovnik, Ms. Terezina Orlić, a representative of the University of Tourism and Economy in Dubrovnik, Ms. Ivona Vrdoljak Raguž, Director of the ngo DESA of Dubrovnik, Jany Hansal, and journalist, Ms Anñelka Kelava of the "Dubrovački vjesnik". 13. 16/03 Welcome to the delegation of some member of the parliament of the regional government of the Iraqi Kurdistan, guided by the President of the parliamentary commission on the relations with civil society, Mr. Dana Sofists, and accompanied by representatives of the NGO “Un Ponte Per” and of the Table for Peace and the Cooperation of Pontedera. Guided tour of Palazzo Vecchio, subsequently a greeting with Councillor Saccardi and a work meeting with Susanna Agostini, dr. De Rosa and dr. Laura Longo (UNESCO Office). 14. 23/03 Welcome to a delegation of four representatives of the city hall and six percussionists from our befriended city Jeonju, in the presence of the President of the Commission of Culture, Leonardo Bieber, and the President of the Peace Commission, Susanna Agostini on the occasion of the opening of the Korean Film Festival. Exchange of letters of the respective Mayors and formal gifts. The percussionists also made a brief performance in the Sala degli Otto. Subsequently they visited Palazzo Vecchio and the Quartieri Monumentali. 15. 24/03 Welcome to a delegation of the Director of the Library of Bagdad and the European Commissoner Sarah Barnat and the representatives of the ngo “Un ponte a”. Followed by a Press Conference and a tour of Palazzo Vecchio and the Quartieri Monumentali. APRIL 2012 16. 11/04 Welcome to the Edinburg Renaissance Singers with the intention of reinforcing the twinning relationship on the request of the Office of International Relations of Edinburg. Organisation of a concert of the choir of Edinburg at the European University Institute in Badia Fiesolana. An exchange was created with the music school of Fiesole and the choir of the European University Institute. 17. 24/04 Welcome to the Minister of Diaspora of the Republic of Kosovo, Ibrahim Makolli, accompanied by the Ambassador of Kosovo Albert Prenkaj and his counsellor. The reception had been requested by the President of the Kosovar Community and the President of the Kosovar Association in Tuscany, Berisha Xafer. The visit was accompanied by Artan Ramaj, guide and interpreter. Tour of Palazzo Vecchio, institutional welcoming by Councillor Stefania Saccardi. The Minister was given a paperweight and a print of Palazzo Vecchio, while the others got a coat pin with the red lily. 18. 25/04 Welcome to the Vice Minister of Justice of the People’s Republic of China, Mr. Zhao Dacheng, accompanied by Ms. Sun Jianying, the General Director of the Department of Legal Assistance, Mr. Kang Yu, the Vice General Director of the Department of Judicial Assistance and Foreign Affairs, Mr. Jiang Jinfang, the General Director of the National Center of Judicial Examinations, Mr. Zhao Henghui, principal Member of the General staff, Mr. Lin Tian, principal Member of the Staff and Liaison Officer of the Department of Judicial Assistance and Foreign Affairs. Visit to the Quartieri Monumentali, institutional welcome by the Deputy Mayor in the Sala di Lorenzo at the end of the celebrations of 25 april. The Deputy Mayor has made reference to the twinning agreement with Nanchino and the excellent relations between the cities, he mentioned also the great attention towards China and the presence of numerous Chinese communities on our territory. The Deputy Mayor expressed his wish for an intensification of the cultural relations between the economies of China and Italy. The Vice Minister was offered a silver coin, a reproduction of the geographic map of China and a tourist guide to Florence in Chinese. 19. 16/04 Welcome to the delegation of Mr. Ferguson of the Morgan Stanley Bank. Tour of Palazzo Vecchio and visit to the Quartieri Monumentali and the Torre di Arnolfo. MAY 2012 20. 02/05 Institutional welcome to the Australian and New Zealandian community and to the Director of the British Institute and the Honorary English Consul by Councillor Stefania Saccardi in occasion of the celebrations for ANZAC Day. 21. 08/05 Institutional Welcome to the Vice President of the European Commission, Olli Rehn, by Councillor Giachi at the station of Florence. 22. 08/05 Institutional Welcome to Michel Barnier, member of the European Commission and Responsible of the Internal Market and Services, and Javier Solana, President of the center ESADE for global economy and geopolitics, by Deputy Mayor Dario Nardella at the airport of Florence on the occasion of “State of the Union”. 23. 09/05 A guided visit in English to the Quartieri Monumentali of Palazzo Vecchio and the Studiolo di Francesco I was offered to a group of professors of the European University Institute and speakers at “State of the Union”.

    Regional Studies and Local Development (May. 2021) Le elezioni regionali in Toscana Rosso, Verde e Astensione Raffaella Fittipaldi DOI: 10.14658/pupj-rsld-2021-1-4 Abstract Le elezioni regionali toscane si sono svolte il 20 e 21 settembre 2020 nel corso della pandemia dovuta alla rapida diffusione del Covid-19. L’impatto politico dell’appuntamento elettorale regionale sul governo nazionale è maggiorato dalla particolare e critica congiuntura che il governo del paese sta vivendo. Le performances elettorali dei singoli partiti e delle coalizioni rendono evidente un cambiamento negli equilibri del sistema politico a livello regionale. In Toscana vince la coalizione di centro- sinistra, ma si conferma il tramonto della tradizionale in-contendibilità della regione. I risultati elettorali dimostrano infatti che non è più riscontrabile un’egemonia politico- elettorale nella regione e che l’esistenza di più deboli sentimenti di appartenenza agisce come vettore di cambiamento. Abstract The Tuscan regional elections took place on 20 and 21 September 2020 during the pandemic due to the rapid spread of Covid-19. The political impact of the regional election is increased by the critical situation that Italy is experiencing. The electoral performances of single parties and coalitions highlight a change in the equilibrium of the regional political system. In Tuscany the center-left coalition wins, but, with weaker ideological linkages, the red political-electoral hegemony no longer exists.
