St Giles Junior School January 2018 St Giles Junior School Hayes Lane, Exhall, Warwickshire, CV7 9NS Tel : 02476 313375 Email : [email protected] Welcome back It’s hard to believe that January has been and gone, much like everyone’s New Year resolutions? One thing we are not forgetting about though is about our school’s attendance. St Giles Junior School is committed to ensuring the best for all our learners and working together with parents to support children and families. We will be working hard to promote good attendance and have common systems in place to work with families if attendance drops below an acceptable level. Our Attendance Policy has been agreed by the school governors and can be found on the school website. It is important for the children’s education that their attendance is above 95% and that children arrive in school on time. We hope you will continue supporting us with this. School Games Indoor Rowing Competition at Etone College 10 schools from Warwickshire took part in a North Warwickshire rowing competition. All our rowers put in lots of effort to earn metres for their team. Everyone rowed over 150m in one minute. Fantastic as for most them it was the first time they had been on a rowing machine! They also represented St. Giles admirably as their behaviour was wonderful and they encouraged and supported each other throughout the competition. Please have a look at our new website and have a look at the video clip of the afternoon – it looks like great fun, they want a rowing machine in school now! Healthy Snacks, Please Can we encourage you to make sure only healthy snacks are brought into school.

Whitestone & Bulkington Community Forum Bulkington Community Library School Road, Bulkington, CV12 9JB Thursday 16 February 2017 Present: Cllr John Beaumont (Chair) Cllr Jeff Morgan Cllr June Tandy Cllr Julian Gutteridge Mike Slemensek (WCC) Sergeant Nathan Hewitt Apologies: Simone Hines (NBBC) Cllr Sam Margrave There were 55 members of the public present. The meeting commenced at 7.05pm. 1. Welcome and Introductions 1.1 Mike Slemensek began proceedings by welcoming everyone and covered health and safety procedures. He then handed over to the chair of the meeting Cllr John Beaumont. 2. Matters arising from the last Forum (summary of action sheet) (1) Crime figures on theft – An update would be given when the police arrived/would be circulated to members if the police did not attend. (2) Update on proposed Traders Association – Cllr Beaumont updated that there had not been enough interest from the larger traders to make this a viable venture and the vicar who was involved in this has moved away from area. Therefore this idea will not be progressed further. (3) Double mini-island – Lutterworth Road – Cllr Morgan updated and has liaised with Council officers about this – historically there is not enough available space to convert the double mini-island into a larger roundabout and further to that there is no issue of accidents/collisions taking place at this location that raises an issue of significant threat to public safety. Cllr Morgan noted concerns about the inconvenience to motorists of queuing at the mini-island during peak hours. (4) Bramcote Bridge - temporary weight restriction – Cllr Morgan updated that he has spoken to Council officers and established that the temporary signs will be replaced by a traffic order which will confirm the current weight restrictions.
