In charge of Front of House during the production. ____ Asst. Stage Manager (See attached list for Stage Manager duties). May require an interview.

Stage Manager/Asst. Stage Manager’s Responsibilities

The Stage Manager or Asst. Stage Manager is required to attend every rehearsal. They all need to be present during tech week and every performance. Please do not interview for this position if you will be unable to adhere to the schedule.

During Rehearsals: Prepare Rehearsal Space: 1. Floor swept 2. Acting area prepared for the first scene to be rehearsed Keep Rehearsals Running Smoothly: 1. Keep a record of attendance 2. If actors miss a call, try to locate their whereabouts 3. Assist the director and production team in keeping rehearsals running smoothly and without disruption. Establish authoritative position early on in rehearsal process so you can “run” performances smoothly. Preparing and Maintaining Prompt Book: 1. The prompt book is the production’s bible. It contains all the cuts and added lines made during the rehearsals, the director’s , and all cues for lights, sounds, scene shifts and special effects. 2. The stage manager is responsible for both setting the book up and maintaining it. During dress rehearsals and performances, the prompt book becomes the single most important piece of property in the theater. Prompting the Actors: 1. Throwing the actors cues while they are struggling with their lines (stage managers should always wait until the actor calls out “line” before providing a ). 2. Making sure the actor is delivering their lines as they are written in the script (done by giving them a note after rehearsal).

During Dress Rehearsals and Performances: 1. First to arrive (with Adult Production Team) 2. Post sign-in sheet 3. Sweep stage floor 4. At one hour before curtain, check sign-in sheet to make sure all backstage (cast and crew) personnel have signed in 5. Check with light and sound team to make sure everything is running smoothly 6. Check in with props crew that all props are where they belong and in good working condition 7. Have running crew set the stage and set the backstage 8. Before half-hour call, clear the stage, close the front curtain, and inform cast and crew they are now to stay in dressing rooms/back stage 9. Inform ushers that house is ready to open (confirm with Adult Production Team) 10. Give half-hour call 11. Give 15 minute call 12. Check once more with crews and make sure everything is ready to go 13. Give 5 minutes call 14. Call “places” 2 to 3 minutes before curtain 15. When you get the “go” from the director, start the show 16. During performance, manage cast, running and props crew to make sure all sets, props and actors are where they need to be when they need to be. 17. Continue to give calls (5 minute warning, “places”) during intermission. 18. After the dress rehearsals and performances, check with crews to make sure everything has been cleared and put away.

Crew Member/Parent/Guardian Commitment Sheet – Seussical

Seussical is not a casual commitment or add-on activity for the already overly scheduled. This exciting opportunity demands the following commitment.

**We commit to be prepared to attend rehearsals and workshops when called. Rehearsal will take place Mondays and Thursdays from 3:30 to 5:30 and Thursdays from 5:30 to 8:00. There will also be some Saturday workshops. Tech run rehearsals/performances will run March 16-29. ALL CREW will be called every rehearsal of the final two weeks before the show (March 16-29). Crew cannot miss more than 3 scheduled rehearsals for any reason. Parents/Guardians must notify the advisors by e-mail or phone IN ADVANCE of any absence or crew member may be removed from the show. Remember, no student may participate in an after school activity if he/she has been absent from school that SAME DAY.

**Crew members must listen, be respectful of person and property, and be responsible for being prepared. This means arriving to rehearsal on time. Crew members must be able to perform the specific tasks assigned to them. Repeated lack of preparation or lack of self-control, may result in removal from show.

** Crew member understands that being involved in a drama production at Mount Nittany Middle School requires serious commitment and will only participate if he/she can give his/her full commitments. Crew member realizes that the schedule for the production includes weekday night and weekends, especially as we get closer to the performances. Crew member knows that his/her academic work is his/her first responsibility, and that he/she cannot participate in any aspect of the drama production if he/she is academically ineligible at any time. Remember, no student may participate in an after school activity if he/she has been absent from school that SAME DAY.

**If selected for crew, we will check the drama club website and e-mail at least every MONDAY and FRIDAY or be responsible to gain the information from another crew member in order to download and print all scheduling information.

**If my child is selected for crew, I will pick up or arrange transportation for my actor so that directors can LEAVE promptly after rehearsal.
