INTRODUCTION TO RUDSET INSTITUTE

GENESIS:

Syndicate Bank, Canara Bank and Sri DharmasthalaManjunatheswara Educational Trust took the initiative under the visionary leadership of Padma VibhushanDr.D.VeerandraHeggade in the year 1982 to mitigate the unemployment problem in the country. The collective thinking gave concrete shape in providing an institutional framework of RUDSETI. In 1982, first institute was established at Ujire, Dakshina Kannada district, Karnataka. In the year 1988 RUDSET Institute was established at in PrakasamDistrict and the same was shifted to a modern building complex at BagyanagarOngole in the year 2014.

MISSION:

❖ Channelizing youth power in wealth creation.

❖ Empower youth to share economic progress equitably.

PHILOSOPHY:

Transformation of rural youth into productive assets by short duration interventions. This is achieved by bringing technology, training and credit within their reach.

OBJECTIVES:

❖ Identify, orient, motivate, train and hand hold the rural youth to take up self-employment ventures. ❖ To take up research and development activities in Entrepreneurship and Rural Development. ❖ Train village level workers to work in rural development.

MANAGEMENT:

The Board of Governors consisting of Chief Executives of sponsors is the supreme policy making body. The Central secretariat with an Executive Director, an officer deputed by sponsor banks aids Governing Council in monitoring RUDSETI.PadmavibhushanDr. D.VeerendraHeggade, President of ShriDharmasthalaManjunatheswara Educational Trust, is the President of the Board of Governors as well as Governing Council.

Each RUDSETI has a District level RSETI Advisory Committee (DLRAC) with representatives of sponsor organizations, Government Officials and eminent personalities. It periodically reviews and assists the progress of RUDSETI. A Manager is deputed from the sponsor bank who heads the institute as director and monitors the total functioning of the institute. The institute has a command area which comprises the whole of Prakasam District.

TRAINING WITH A PURPOSE:

Every Institute has evolved need based location specific training programs. They continuously scan the environment and evolve new training program. There are more than 60 training programs. They are short-term intensive courses ranging from 10 days to 45 days.

TRAINING METHODOLOGY:

❖ Identification & selection of candidates. ❖ Campus and practical approach. ❖ Simulation exercises, group discussions, role plays. ❖ Field visits & experience sharing with role models. ❖ Interactions with Bankers / Govt. officials, Ngo’s , Veteran Representatives. ❖ Personality development with Soft skills & Career path guidance.

FACILITIES OFFERED:

❖ Residential training with free boarding & lodging. ❖ Campus with Library & Audio-Visual aids. ❖ Workshop for the practical’s. ❖ Experienced trainer motivators. ❖ Yoga, Meditation and Shramadan are taught.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA TO GET INTO RUDSETI PROGRAMMES:

❖ For the first Generation Entrepreneurs- Youth having aptitude to take up self employment in the age group of 18-45 years, who can read and write local language.

❖ Criteria for RD, HRD and Technology Program are determined in consultation with the program sponsors.

ESCORT SERVICES:

The Cutting edge of RUDSETI training is the Post Training follow-up/ hand holding for sustained motivation of the trainees.

❖ Trained youth are monitored/followed up closely for two years. Regular correspondences, individual contacts, unit visit, Village/Taluk/District/Branch level meeting and special follow up meetings involving bankers/Govt. offcials.

❖ Facilitating credit linkages with the banks for setting up self employment units.

❖ Business linkage, Workshops, Seminars, etc.

MARKETING SUPPORT:

❖ RUDSET Bazaars are organized to provide marketing support to the RUDSETI trained entrepreneurs. This facilitates the participants to get an insight about market trends and customer behavior. Each unit organizes at least one bazaar every year during melas, exhibitions, special occasions. RUDSETI conducts National Level Exhibition cum sales at Dharmasthala every year during “LakshaDeepotsava” during November – December. The trained entrepreneurs from the units of RUDSETI participate in the event.

RECOGNITION:

❖ Ministry of Rural Development, GOI, New Delhi has accepted the RUDSETI as a replicable model at all India level, directed all the nationalized banks with lead bank responsibilities in the districts, to open RUDSETI type institutes by name Rural Self Employment Training Institutes ( RSETIs ) to provide training to the rural youth. The initiative taken by GOI resulted in establishment of 570 RUDSETI type of institutes across the country. In order to train all the directors and faculties of RSETIs National Academy of RUDSETI was established in Bangalore.

❖ Received FICCI award for Rural Development for the year 1988 – 99.

❖ RUDSETI trained women entrepreneurs have excelled by winning “National Awards” instituted by IMM – NABARD consistently.

❖ RUDSETI has bagged the prestigious National level SIDBI Award for distinguished service to MSMEs – 2011.

❖ NABARD’s guidance in the smooth running of the institute.

The best skill development training institute award received from district Collector during republic day on 26.01.2019 at Police Parade Grounds.

The unique feature of our institute lies in post training monitoring/ Hand holding of the trained candidates for 2 years after training.
