A CHECKLIST OF THE VASCULAR PLANTS OF THE REDWOOD NATIONAL & STATE PARKS James P. Smith, Jr. Professor Emeritus of Botany Department of Biological Sciences Humboldt State Univerity Arcata, California 14 September 2018 The Redwood National and State Parks are located in Del Norte and Humboldt counties in coastal northwestern California. The national park was F E R N S established in 1968. In 1994, a cooperative agreement with the California Department of Parks and Recreation added Del Norte Coast, Prairie Creek, Athyriaceae – Lady Fern Family and Jedediah Smith Redwoods state parks to form a single administrative Athyrium filix-femina var. cyclosporum • northwestern lady fern unit. Together they comprise about 133,000 acres (540 km2), including 37 miles of coast line. Almost half of the remaining old growth redwood forests Blechnaceae – Deer Fern Family are protected in these four parks. -

Oran and Dawud M. Al- Eisawi Department of Biological Sciences, Faculty of Sciences, University of Jordan, Amman, Jordan. Receive 10 April, 2014; Accepted 24 April, 2014 The status of medicinal plants in the high mountains of northern Jordan was evaluated. A total of 227 plant species belonging to 54 genera and 60 families were recorded. The survey is based on field trips conducted in the areas that include Salt, Jarash, Balka, Amman and Irbid governorates. Line transect method was used; collection of plant species was done and voucher specimens were deposited. A map for the target area was provided; the location of the study area grids in relation to their governorate was included. Key words: Medicinal plants, high mountains of northern Jordan, folk medicine. Verhoeven Department of Botany, University of the Orange Free State, Bloemfontein, 9300 Republic of South Africa Accepted 28 August 7989 A taxonomic treatment of Erodium L'Herit. (Geraniaceae) in southern Africa is presented. Eight species, of which two are possibly no longer present in southern Africa, are recognized. All of these species are exotics from Europe and the Mediterranean Region. Only Erodium cicutarium (L.) L'Herit. is widely distributed over southern Africa, the rest are largely concentrated in the south-western Cape where they inhabit moist situa tions. Erodium incarnatum (L.) L'Herit, only indigenous Erodium species in southern Africa is to be transferred to Pelargonium. 'n Taksonomiese verwerking van Erodium L'Herit. (Geraniaceae) in suider Afrika word aangebied. Flora of Çaltepe and Çeletepe (Bolu)

This study was carried out to reveal the vascular plant diversity of Çaltepe and Çeletepe. During 2015−2018, 2340 plant specimens were collected from the research area and 363 genera and 767 taxa belonging to 81 families were determined. Of all the collected taxa, 66 are endemic and endemism rate is %8.60. The IUCN threat categories of endemic and rare plants at global level are as follows: 1 taxon in “CR” category, as well as 4 taxa “EN”, 4 taxa “VU”, 9 taxa “NT”, and 45 taxa “LC”. Also, 3 rare taxa are found in the “VU” category, as well as 1 rare taxon in the “DD” category at regional level. 56 taxa are new records for the province of Bolu. The largest families in the study area are as follows: Asteraceae 97 taxa (%12.65), Fabaceae 62 taxa (%8.08), Lamiaceae 51 taxa (%6.65), Rosaceae 44 taxa (%5.74), Poaceae 37 taxa (%4.82), Brassicaceae 35 taxa (%4.56), Caryophyllaceae 32 taxa (%4.17), Apiaceae 28 taxa (%3.65), Boraginaceae 27 taxa (%3.52) and Orchidaceae 24 taxa (%3.13). The distribution of taxa into phytogeographic regions are as follows: 234 taxa (%30.50) Euro-Siberian, 64 taxa (%8.34) Mediterranean, 46 taxa (%5.99) Irano-Turanian, and 423 taxa (%55.15) multiregional and/or unknown. -

Erodium hoefftianum C.A. Meyer, E. botrys (Cav.) Bertol, E. ciconium (L.) L’Hérit, E. malacoides (L.) L’Hérit, E. cicutarium (L.) L’Hérit, sub sp. cicutarium, E. moschatum (L.) L’Hérit taksonlarının merikarp mikromorfolojisi ilk kez bu çalışma ile belirlenmiştir. Erodium cinsine ait bazı taksonlar tüysü tüylü merikarp aristasına sahip iken bu çalışmada incelenen taksonlar tüysü tüylü olmayan merikarp aristasına sahiptir. Bu taksonların merikarp yüzeyinde hem uzun hem kısa kıllar bulunmakta ve bu kıllar boyuna çizgili görünümdedir. E. ciconium’ un merikarp yüzeyinde dik ve uzun kıllar bulunurken diğer beş taksonun merikarp yüzeyindeki kıllar yatık durumdadır. E. hoefftianum, E. botrys, E. malacoides, E. moschatum, E. cicutarium sub.sp. cicutarium merikarp gövdesinde pörsümüş papillalı yüzey ornamentasyonuna sahiptir. E. ciconium ise merikarp gövdesinde çukurcuklu yüzey ornamentasyonuna sahiptir. E. hoefftianum ve E. ciconium yalnızca merikarp çukuruna sahip iken E. botrys merikarp çukurunun alt kısmında derin iki oluğa, E. malacoides ve E. moschatum merikarp çukurunun aşağısında derin bir oluğa, E.
