Appendix D to Report CM18013(a) Page 1 of 2 May 11, 2018 Dear Mayor Eisenberger and Members of Hamilton City Council: Re: The Future Management of Hamilton's Downtown Entertainment Venues We are writing to update you on progress that has taken place since our letter in February, 2018, at which time the Carmen's Group formally requested City Council examine alternative contract management arrangements regarding the current three downtown entertainment venues. Our two-fold strategic objective remains clear; to maximize the potential of the existing former HECFI facilities in their current form, while concurrently moving forward with a collaboration process to build the private-public partnership model that best produces a renewed vision for the future of Hamilton's entertainment venues. Back in February, in light of the impending conclusion date on the first management contracts for the three venues set for the end of this calendar year, the Carmen’s Group made our formal request to City Council, which then voted to instruct staff to investigate and report back. As we await the staff report, our group wanted to ensure City Council be kept up-to-date on all relevant developments. We are excited to inform you that our Local Group has added an important new relationship. The Carmen's Group working in partnership with Scott Warren, has reached an agreement to work with the Oak View Group (OVG], headquartered in Los Angeles, regarding the proposed operation of the three venues. OVG was founded by Tim Leiweke, Irving Azoff and Madison Square Garden Entertainment. Tim Leiweke, now CEO of OVG, is the former president and CEO of Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment (MLSEJ.

  • The Changing Dynamic of the MLS Decision
Leaving Home – The Fresh Path to Prolonging a Career For aging Irons, MLS provides an inviting alternative to facing rejection As the final cogs of the English National Team’s “Golden Generation” come to grips with the unyielding procession of time and announce their respective international retirements, it comes as natural to speculate over how long it will take them to leave, or in less-fortunate cases, when they will be forced out of, the Premier League. Players such as Ashley Cole, John Terry, and our good friend, Frank, have recently come face to face with the harsh reality of progress, which rears its head and roars out its ugly promise of short-term contract extensions, pay decreases, and a warm seat on the bench. While Terry continues to hold onto his place at Chelsea like a loose tooth on its last stringy sinew, Cole has already been enjoined to leave the West London limelight. After his omission from the World Cup squad in May, he relayed his decision to draw the curtains on a prolific international career; now at Roma, the man-also-known-as-Cashley is free to watch his playing days dwindle at a comparatively safe distance from all English-speaking media. Regular Three Lions’ squad members hog the largest pieces of pie, in terms of press coverage; this recycling process of old-for-new, weary-for-fresh, however, occurs uniformly across all levels of the football pyramid. At West Ham, these exoduses are all the more prevalent; it’s no secret that the conservative strategy employed by Allardyce over the past two seasons, which focused on bringing in seasoned faces to do a younger man’s job for a fraction of the price, left many of the Irons’ on-field employees searching for work as the Brazilian heat boiled their compatriots’ dreams of World Cup glory.

  • Prescott Discussed Entertainment Complex at Dinner with Tycoon
Prescott discussed entertainment complex at dinner with tycoon John Prescott was facing renewed pressure over his links with Philip Anschutz last night as it emerged that he discussed the tycoon’s „entertainment district“ project for central Los Angeles during their secret dinner at the billionaire’s Colorado ranch. The revelation will add to the clamour for the beleaguered Deputy Prime Minister’s resignation because it contrasts so starkly with the two reasons he gave last week for his hastily arranged visit to the 32,000-acre Eagle’s Nest estate near Denver last year. The ambitious „LA Live“ scheme based around the Staples Centre stadium is widely seen as a blueprint for Mr Anschutz’s plans to breathe life into the Millennium Dome by transforming it into a entertainment and sports hub in Greenwich. After news of his two-night visit to Eagle’s Nest emerged, Mr Prescott initially said that the two men had talked about their mutual interest in William Wilberforce, the slavery abolitionist. He later claimed that he wanted to visit a working ranch and had a newly professed love of cowboy films. At no time did he make mention of discussions about the showpiece Los Angeles project. He also repeatedly insisted that Mr Anschutz’s plans for the Dome and backing for a supercasino at the site had not been raised. A senior executive at the Anschutz Entertainment Group (AEG), however, told The Sunday Telegraph that there was a conversation about what the company was planning for its „entertainment district“ in Los Angeles. He said that Mr Prescott was keen to learn about affordable housing and regeneration.
