  • Judith Lucy Comedian/Writer/Actor
Judith Lucy Comedian/Writer/Actor Judith Lucy started performing stand-up comedy thirty years ago, and since then all her shows have been utterly, achingly, ‘provide warnings to asthmatics’ funny. Judith is a best-selling, award winning stand-up comedian, selling out huge venues across the country, playing theatres in big cities and across the regions. Rivetingly honest, with a Gatling gun gag rate, no one sees just one Judith Lucy show. Judith teamed up with good friend Denise Scott and created the critically acclaimed, smash hit stage show Disappointments. Together they won the 2017 Melbourne Comedy Festival’s People’s Choice Award, performed a run at Soho Theatre in London’s West End and sold out shows all over Australia. When Judith’s not on stage she’s the best-selling author of two devastatingly honest, hilarious books and created two ABC series: Judith Lucy’s Spiritual Journey and Judith Lucy Is All Woman, both of which were nominated for AACTA awards. In 2020, Judith has been seen back in her regular role on ABC TV’s smash hit show The Weekly with Charlie Pickering, has had her critically acclaimed stand-up show Judith Lucy Vs Men released on Amazon Prime Video, released a podcast series for the ABC Overwhelmed and Dying and signed her third book deal. So, there’s not much on. Basically, Judith is really funny, super busy and anyone who sees her agrees and they keep coming back. A simple but effective formula. “Great comedians have time for a sip of water after delivering a ripper punchline.

  • PETER HELLIAR Comedian/Writer/Director/Broadcaster/Presenter
PETER HELLIAR Comedian/Writer/Director/Broadcaster/Presenter Peter Helliar has been one of Australia’s favourite comedians since his first appearance on our TV screens as a core cast member on the Logie Award winning Rove back in 1999. Pete has performed stand up for more than twenty years, selling out shows right across the country, where he makes the difficult business of being funny look dead easy. Now the Gold Logie Nominee is making people laugh four nights a week on Network Ten’s The Project, the beloved show where the news is delivered differently. A man of many talents, Peter created and co-produced two series of the award winning It’s A Date for ABC TV, and How to Stay Married for Network Ten which premiered in 2018 and will return in 2020. He has directed episodes of both shows. He is also the author of the much loved children’s book series, Franky Fish which is published by Hardie Grant/Egmont. In 2018, Frankie Fish was voted one of Australia’s Top 50 kids books in the annual Better Reading Top 50 Kids Books poll and Frankie Fish and the Sonic Suitcase was shortlisted for the ABIAs for Book of the Year for Younger Children in 2018. Peter Helliar used to be Strauchanie and his French accent has not improved. “Give Peter Helliar a stage, a microphone, some bright lights and a captive audience and he shows why he is one of the nation’s favourite comedians” Sunday Mail “Wonderful… a bizarre revelation” The Age, Melbourne “Peter Helliar makes the difficult business of being funny look dead easy.

  • Inquiry Into the Australian Film and Television Industry
Australian Broadcasting Corporation Submission to the House of Representatives Standing Committee on Communications and the Arts Inquiry into the Australian Film and Television Industry March 2017 1 ABC Submission on the House of Representatives Inquiry into the Australian Film and TV industry ABC Submission to the House of Representatives Standing Committee on Communications and the Arts Inquiry into the Australian Film and Television Industry March 2017 Executive Summary The ABC is a proud investor in and contributor to Australian screen content, and regards this commitment as fundamental to the Corporation’s Charter and a key tenant of its social contract with the Australian public. Over the last 60 years, the ABC’s contribution to the screen industry has delivered significant cultural and economic benefit to Australia. Today, the Corporation is an integral part of the Australian television and film environment; fostering creative talent, working in close partnership with the production industry, and creating and commissioning programs that resonate with the Australian people. Over the last two decades the ABC, along with media organisations worldwide, has borne witness to increasingly rapid technological change, greater competition from international players, rising production costs and audience fragmentation. All of these elements have coalesced to have an impact on the economics of producing Australian content, which threaten the growth and sustainability of the industry. In turn, without recourse this situation will ensure there will be further diminution of Australian voices and content on Australian screens. 1 ABC Submission on the House of Representatives Inquiry into the Australian Film and TV industry A flourishing artistic and cultural environment helps sustain a distinctive and cohesive society.

  • Untitled ‘Clock’ (2014) Is by Stuart Ringholt
1 Top Pick Sunday 15 July 8.30pm Jack Irish Looking into Eddie’s (George Zhao) calendar, Jack (Guy Pearce) discovers that Lakshmi (Rubi Balasingam) was seeing a psychiatrist, Dr Rory Finch (Danielle Cormack). She and Jack have instant chemistry, but she refuses to tell him anything that may break doctor/patient confidentiality and Jack notes a wedding ring on her finger. Rory looks into the details of Lakshmi’s autopsy and finds out the body was shipped back to India. When Jack discovers that Lakshmi’s father, Ajeet (Sachin Joab), is in Melbourne to find out what happened to his daughter’s remains, he realises Lakshmi’s body never made it home to India. As he considers this, Jack springs a burglar in his courtyard, only to realise that it’s Charlie Taub’s granddaughter, Gus (Tiarnie Coupland). Suspecting that she may be struggling, Jack tells her she’s welcome to stay any time, an offer met with derision from the damaged teenager. Jack receives a cryptic message that tells him to meet at a restaurant later that day. Cautious, Jack enlists the help of hapless hitman, Brendan O’Grady (Bob Franklin), as back up. When Jack shows up at the restaurant, Brendan isn’t there and Jack is joined by a man who has clearly been sleeping rough. He refuses to tell Jack anything until he’s sure that Jack isn’t working for ‘them’ – but before he can tell Jack anything, he’s shot in the back of the head by an unseen drive-by gunman. Homicide detective Barry Tregear (Shane Jacobson) attends the crime scene and informs Jack that the murder victim is off the grid; a man with no known identity.
