The report was prepared for section 46 of the Public Governance, Performance and Accountability Act 2013, in accordance with the requirements of that Act and the Australian Broadcasting Corporation Act 1983. It was approved by the Board on 11 September 2019 and provides a comprehensive review of the ABC’s performance and delivery in line with its Charter remit. The ABC continues to be the home and source of Australian stories, told across the nation and to the world. The Corporation’s commitment to innovation in both storytelling and broadcast delivery is stronger than ever, as the needs of its audiences rapidly evolve in line with technological change. Australians expect an independent, accessible public broadcasting service which produces quality drama, comedy and specialist content, entertaining and educational children’s programming, stories of local lives and issues, and news and current affairs coverage that holds power to account and contributes to a healthy democratic process.     Judith Lucy Comedian/Writer/Actor Judith Lucy started performing stand-up comedy thirty years ago, and since then all her shows have been utterly, achingly, ‘provide warnings to asthmatics’ funny. Judith is a best-selling, award winning stand-up comedian, selling out huge venues across the country, playing theatres in big cities and across the regions. Rivetingly honest, with a Gatling gun gag rate, no one sees just one Judith Lucy show. Judith teamed up with good friend Denise Scott and created the critically acclaimed, smash hit stage show Disappointments. Together they won the 2017 Melbourne Comedy Festival’s People’s Choice Award, performed a run at Soho Theatre in London’s West End and sold out shows all over Australia. When Judith’s not on stage she’s the best-selling author of two devastatingly honest, hilarious books and created two ABC series: Judith Lucy’s Spiritual Journey and Judith Lucy Is All Woman, both of which were nominated for AACTA awards. In 2020, Judith has been seen back in her regular role on ABC TV’s smash hit show The Weekly with Charlie Pickering, has had her critically acclaimed stand-up show Judith Lucy Vs Men released on Amazon Prime Video, released a podcast series for the ABC Overwhelmed and Dying and signed her third book deal.     PETER HELLIAR Comedian/Writer/Director/Broadcaster/Presenter Peter Helliar has been one of Australia’s favourite comedians since his first appearance on our TV screens as a core cast member on the Logie Award winning Rove back in 1999. Pete has performed stand up for more than twenty years, selling out shows right across the country, where he makes the difficult business of being funny look dead easy. Now the Gold Logie Nominee is making people laugh four nights a week on Network Ten’s The Project, the beloved show where the news is delivered differently. A man of many talents, Peter created and co-produced two series of the award winning It’s A Date for ABC TV, and How to Stay Married for Network Ten which premiered in 2018 and will return in 2020. He has directed episodes of both shows. He is also the author of the much loved children’s book series, Franky Fish which is published by Hardie Grant/Egmont. In 2018, Frankie Fish was voted one of Australia’s Top 50 kids books in the annual Better Reading Top 50 Kids Books poll and Frankie Fish and the Sonic Suitcase was shortlisted for the ABIAs for Book of the Year for Younger Children in 2018. Rory looks into the details of Lakshmi’s autopsy and finds out the body was shipped back to India. When Jack discovers that Lakshmi’s father, Ajeet (Sachin Joab), is in Melbourne to find out what happened to his daughter’s remains, he realises Lakshmi’s body never made it home to India. As he considers this, Jack springs a burglar in his courtyard, only to realise that it’s Charlie Taub’s granddaughter, Gus (Tiarnie Coupland). Suspecting that she may be struggling, Jack tells her she’s welcome to stay any time, an offer met with derision from the damaged teenager.
