Whisper Ships Roar! is funded through a grant from the Helen Jones Foundation Inc. We were very happy to see that organization represented at the reception following the gallery talk. A portion of the grant funding purchased supplies to mount artwork and Silent Wings Museum Staff archival material in exhibition quality frames. The framing was done by our Silent Wings Museum Director of the Municipal Museums Assistant Manager Eddy Grigsby, whose skills allowed Jacqueline Bober some very delicate items to be safely and beautifully exhibited. The funding also enabled us to have Assistant Municipal Museums Manager oversized exhibit panels printed to showcase scanned Eddy Grigsby materials and exhibit text. Museum Curator Whisper Ships Roar! will run through January 2020. Sharon McCullar Marketing and Special Events Coordinator Jacqueline Marchildon Education and Volunteer Coordinator Sebastian Forbush Museums Store Manager David Seitz ShipsShipsWhisperWhisper Roar!Roar! The gallery talk for Whisper Ships Roar! provided a closer look at the making of the exhibit. Curator Sharon McCullar highlighted several artifacts and shared how an exhibit is developed. She discussed the underlying curatorial goals for this and other exhibits at the Silent Wings Museum. Attendees learned how “inspiration artifacts” drove the development of Whisper Ships Roar! and how 2 AVIATION BOOTCAMP 2019 artifacts, archival material, and exhibit text carry out exhibit themes. Whisper Ships Roar! is funded through a grant from the Helen Jones Foundation Inc. We were very happy to see that organization represented at the reception following the gallery talk.     Population and Economics 2004 Update Report Lubbock Comprehensive Plan Introduction The Population and Economics Report is an element of the Lubbock Comprehensive Plan. The purpose of this report is to evaluate the structure of the economy and demography of Lubbock and produce projections for population, land use and economic development. The Population and Economics Report should be evaluated on a timely basis to reflect changes in the economy and demography of Lubbock. The Population and Economics report is used by businesses, governmental agencies, churches, students, and civic organizations to determine needs and develop strategies to meet those needs. To better serve users of this report a greater emphasis is on the graphic presentation of statistical data. The Population and Economics Report is divided into sections on the economy, population and goals. Evaluation of the economic structure is fundamental to the population analysis because economic and human resources are the foundation of any community. Goals reflect the desires of the citizens to increase economic opportunity and improve the quality of life for their community and to focus the available resources to achieve these goals. Most chapters in the report are subdivided into Historic, Existing and Outlook sections to illustrate the evolution of the specific topics. To accommodate the increased interest in water usage and planning, projections are made to the year 2050 for the City of Lubbock and the Retail Trade area. It should be noted that while the Planning Department of the City of Lubbock is responsible for this report and great care has been used in the assembly and review of this document, accuracy is limited by the reliability of the current Land Use Data File and the accuracy of data obtained from other sources.

Cathcart ABSTRACT The goal of my project is a detailed analysis of the technological culture of the United States Air Force from a Science and Technology Studies (STS) perspective. In particular, using the metaphor of the Air Force as religion helps in understanding a culture built on matters of life-and-death. This religious narrative—with the organizational roles of actors such as priests, prophets, and laity, and the institutional connotations of theological terms such as sacredness—is a unique approach to the Air Force. An analysis of how the Air Force interacts with technology—the very thing that gives it meaning—from the social construction of technology approach will provide a broader understanding of this relationship. Mitcham’s dichotomy of the engineering philosophy of technology (EPT) and the humanities philosophy of technology (HPT) perspectives provides a methodology for analyzing Air Force decisions and priorities. I examine the overarching discourse and metaphor—consisting of techniques, technologies, experiences, language, and religion—in a range of historical case studies describing the sociological and philosophical issues of the Air Force.
