POWs in the United States were often employed on farms and factories and were generally treated well. Another type of camp was the Alien Internment Camp. These sites held people who were citizens (but not soldiers) of Japan, Germany, or Italy, who had been living in the United States. Even though most were not charged with specific crimes, the government confined them during the war.
