presented by March 4-6, 2010 Indianapolis, Indiana Programs of Music for All Greetings from the President & CEO March 4, 2010 Greetings, Welcome to Indianapolis and the 2010 Music for All National Festival, presented by Yamaha. It is my pleasure to welcome you to this premier event, recognized as the epitome of music festivals, and to congratulate you for being recognized as one of the finest school music programs in America. 2010 marks the 35th anniversary of Music for All’s Bands of America and my 26th L. Scott McCormick year as the executive director of the organization. For the past 34 years, we have been able to provide positively life-changing experiences to over 1.25 million young people and educators. Today, more than ever, I am encouraged by what lies on the horizon and at the same time looking at current challenges that we have not previously experienced. Today, we have greater evidence than we have ever had about the impact that music and the arts have on preparing our young people for the new creative society. And yet we face more and more schools looking at budget cuts that, unfortunately, too often look at the wrong places to cut. It is time to grow the largest community of advocates in our history. With the army of alumni that this organization has, we all need to reach out to engage each of our respective school’s alumni and come together with a single message. If you read this, like so many parents and teachers have in the past, and say, these budget cuts and issues will not affect our program, I know of several nationally recognized music programs’ parents and teachers who were of the same opinion a year ago. None of us are beyond this reality, and if you wait until you hear about the possibility of cuts, you will be too late. Music for All has only relatively recently focused on communicating this charitable organization’s need for contributed income to our alumni and family. Please use our 35th anniversary campaign to reconnect, share and contribute to the work we do. 91% of every dollar we raise goes directly to our programming and fulfilling our mission. I encourage you to go online to my.musicforall.org, build your profile and start sharing. I know that it requires a commitment of resources on your part to make an experience like this festival possible. To that end, I thank you for your faith in Music for All and for allowing us this opportunity to serve you. Music for All’s mission remains “to create, provide and expand positively life-changing experiences through music for all.” While I enjoy the privilege of leading the organization, it is the talent and commitment of the Music for All staff, board and volunteers that brings all of our programs to life. Many blessings as you enjoy your time at the Music for All National Festival and continue to enjoy the lasting impact after you return home. I look forward to enjoying all the wonderful music that will be made over the next few days! Warmest regards, L. Scott McCormick 1 Table of Contents Festival Information 127 Supporting the Cinco Ranch H.S.
