Unfortunately, due to the recent negative and unpleasant reality of the Corona-Virus, we had to cancel our annual live events in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates. But we still decided to organise some other events online, like the World Stars Sharjah Online International Chess Championship 2020, in cooperation with the prestigious chess platform Internet Chess Club. The Sharjah Cultural & Chess Club was founded on June 1981 with the object of spreading and development of chess as mental and cultural sport across the Sharjah Emirate and in the United Arab Emirates territory in general. As on 2020 we are celebrating the 39th anniversary of our Club I can promise some extra-ordinary events in close cooperation with FIDE, the Asian Chess Federation and the Arab Chess Federation for the coming year 2021, which will mark our 40th anniversary! September Badischer Meister 2020: IM Jonas Rosner (SK 1926 Ettlingen) Das kleinste Teilnehmerfeld der letzten sechs Jahre bei der wichtigsten Einzelmeisterschaft unseres Ver- bandes – schade! So wird möglicherweise auf der Suche des Verbandes nach einem Ausrichter, in Zukunft von den angesprochenen Vereinen immer öfter ein »nein danke, zu viel Aufwand für zu wenig Leute«! zu hören sein. An der Qualität der Teilnehmer ändert das natürlich nichts, die war überdurchschnittlich hoch, was u.a. durch die Teilnahme von vier Titelträgern belegt ist. »Maskerade« Ein Auftaktsieg (gegen Lukas Pfatteicher, KSF 1853) war für Jonas Rosner »Pflicht«; in der zweiten Runde hieß es dann: volle Konzentration auf Veaceslav Cof- mann (SC Eppingen), der nicht nur ein ernst zu neh- mender Gegner ist, sondern der auch den Rucksack »Geheimfavorit« mit sich trug. Nach seinem dritten Sieg in Folge, gegen FM Dr. Joachim Sieglen (SC Unter- grombach), war Jonas Rosner bereits zu diesem frü- hen Zeitpunkt der Meisterschaft in der Spur! NEWSLETTER 121 (June 26, 2013) ECU PRESIDENT SILVIO DANAILOV PARTICIPATES IN I UNICEF ORIGAMI FESTIVAL FOR CHESS IN SCHOOL ECU President Silvio Danailov took part in I UNICEF ORIGAMI FESTIVAL, dedicated to the promotion of the ECU project “Chess in school” in Galicia and Spain. The event was organized by the Higher school “Pedro Floriani” in collaboration with the city of Redondela and Vigo Chess Club "Xadrez Galego" and was held on June 20-21, 2013 in Redondela, Galicia. On Thursday June 20th, at 18:30, after the official reception at the City Hall, in the Auditorium Redondela, Mr. Silvio Danailov explained in a very clear and instructive way all the details about the project "Chess in School" of the European Chess Union and focused on the benefits from the introduction of the game of chess in the schools. The official ceremony was attended by Mr. Javier Bas, Mayor, the Councillors for culture, Mr. Julio Monteagudo, and education, Mrs. Teresa Paris, besides the Director General of Education, Mr. Manuel Corredoira, representing the Galician Government. On Friday 21st at the Higher school “Pedro Floriani” origami and chess festival was held, which was done with the collaboration of ONCE (National Organization of Spanish Blind).
