  • Achievement of Three Years
SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT THROUGH KUDUMBASHREE CDS Report from Perinthalmanna CDS 2018-2020 Report submitted by, Sarika. S State Assistant Programme Manager - Tribal Kudumbashree State Mission 1 Perinthalmanna Perinthalmanna is a municipality in Malappuram district of Kerala. It was the capital of Valluvanad, a princely state ruled by the Valluvakonathiris, a suspected branch of the Pallava dynasty of the ancient Tamil kingdoms. Thirumandhamkunnu Bhagavathi Temple and Tali Mahadeva temple are located at Angadipuram, 3 km north of the town. Perinthalmanna became a Panchayath in 1933. Later upgraded to municipality on 10 February 1990. As of 2011 India census, Perinthalmanna had a population of 49,723 spreading an area of 34 sq km. The municipal area is divided into 31 administration wards. Perinthalmanna is a prominent and fast-developing settlement in the district. The town is equidistant, at approximately 70 Km, from Palakkad, Thrissur and Kozhikode cities. The Kozhikode-Palakkad Road (NH 966) and the Perumbilavu-Nilambur Road (SH 9 & 23) meet at the Main Junction of Perinthalmanna. This geographic positioning and connectivity with all important settlements in the region has been catalystic to the growth of this town. This strong connectivity has attracted higher level facilities to the town. But this also means a heavy volume of through-traffic that adds to the chaos in the town. Perinthalmanna is located near the southern boundary of Malappuram District, along National Highway 966. The town is well connected by roads to the other important towns in the district like Malappuram, Manjeri, Nilambur, Kottakkal, Pattambi and Shornur and the neighbouring LSGs Angadippuram, Vettathur, Thazhekkode, Alipparamba, Elamkulam and Pulamanthole.

GOVERNMENT OF KERALA DISTRICT SURVEY REPORT OF MINOR MINERALS (EXCEPT RIVER SAND) Prepared as per Environment Impact Assessment (EIA) Notification, 2006 issued under Environment (Protection) Act 1986 by DEPARTMENT OF MINING AND GEOLOGY www.dmg.kerala.gov.in November, 2016 Thiruvananthapuram 1 DISTRICT SURVEY REPORT OF MINOR MINERALS MALAPPURAM DISTRICT (This report is to be submitted along with application for Environmental Clearance (EC) for mining of all minor minerals except river sand) 1 Introduction Malappuram district forms part of Malabar region of Kerala, which is predominantly a landof hills and valleys. Malappuram literally means an elevated place on the top of hills. The district has a unique place in the geological history in view of the fact that Laterite, first identified in the area near Angadippuram by Francis Buchanan is the o o type area of Laterite. The district lies between North latitudes 10 40’ and 11 32’ and o o East longitude 75 50’ and 76 36’. The Nilgiris of Tamil Nadu in the east and Lakshadweep Sea in the west provide natural boundaries. In the north it is bounded by Kozhikode and Wayanad districts and in the south by Palakkad and Trichur districts. The district has a geographical area of 3550 sq.km, which is 9.13 % of the total area of the State. In 2011, Malappuram had population of 4,110,956 of which male and female were 1,961,014 and 2,149,942 respectively. There was an increase of 13.39 percent in the population compared to population as per 2001. The initial provisional data suggest a rd density of 1,158 in 2011 compared to 1,021 of 2001.

Since, it is here argued, this challenge to British rule was a consequence of the impact of that power on social relations in rural Malabar starting with the earliest period of British control of the area, the genesis of the rising is traced from the cession of Malabar to the East India Company in 1792. Chapter 1 constitutes an investigation both of social relations in rural Malabar under the impact of British rule and of the limits of Moplah response under conditions in which rebellion was impracticable.
