Volvo Cars and Geely Auto to Deepen Collaboration
Volvo Cars and Geely Auto to Deepen Collaboration VOLVO CAR AB STOCK EXCHANGE RELEASE 24 FEBRUARY 2021 AT 14:30 CET Volvo Cars and Geely Auto have agreed on a wide-ranging collaboration that will maximise the strengths of the Swedish and Chinese automotive groups, delivering synergies in powertrains, sharing of electric vehicle architecture, joint procurement, autonomous drive technologies and aftersales. • Powertrain operations to be combined in new company focused on next-generation hybrid systems and internal combustion engines • Expanded use of shared modular architectures for electric vehicles (EVs) • Enhanced collaboration in autonomous and electric drive technologies • Joint procurement to cut purchasing costs • Lynk & Co to expand globally by utilising Volvo distribution and service network • Companies to retain independent corporate structures Following a detailed review of combination options, Volvo Cars and Geely Auto have concluded they can secure new growth opportunities in their respective markets and meet evolving industry challenges through deeper cooperation, while preserving their existing separate corporate structures. The deeper collaboration will enable existing stakeholders and potential new investors in Volvo Cars and Geely Auto to value their respective standalone strategies, performance, financial exposure and returns. We will also have the opportunity to explore capital market options. The collaboration will be overseen by a new governance model, supported by Geely Holding, the lead shareholder in both companies. Volvo Cars and Geely Auto confirmed the combination of their existing powertrain operations into a new standalone company. The company, expected to become operational this year, will provide internal combustion engines, transmissions, and next-generation dual-motor hybrid systems for use by both companies as well as other automobile manufacturers. -

Zhejiang Geely Holding Group Co. Ltd. Assigned 'BBB-' Rating; Outlook Stable
Zhejiang Geely Holding Group Co. Ltd. Assigned 'BBB-' Rating; Outlook Stable 19-Mar-2019 05:38 EDT View Analyst Contact Information We expect Zhejiang Geely Holding Group Co. Ltd. to continue to gain market share, supported by good product design, improving quality, and a strong pipeline of new models at its subsidiaries. This is despite uncertainties in global auto demand. In our view, the China-based automaker will maintain modest leverage, thanks to its stable profitability and strong operating cash flows. On March 19, 2019, S&P Global Ratings assigned its 'BBB-' long-term issuer credit rating to Zhejiang Geely Holding. The stable outlook reflects our view that Zhejiang Geely Holding will continue to gradually grow its auto revenue and profit, and sustain moderate leverage over the next 12-24 months, despite a competitive and volatile market. HONG KONG (S&P Global Ratings) March 19, 2019--The rating on Zhejiang Geely Holding reflects our expectation that the company will continue to strengthen its position in the global and China's automotive industry over the next 12-24 months. In our view, Zhejiang Geely Holding could also improve its groupwide competitive position. This will be supported by sustained technology improvement, strong product pipeline, platform synergy, and successful marketing and sales execution of its major subsidiaries Geely Automobile Holdings Ltd. (Geely Auto), Lynk & Co, and Volvo Car AB (Volvo Car). We expect Geely Auto to continue its solid sales momentum over the next 12-24 months, outpacing market growth. The sales momentum would stem from the sustained quality improvements on the back of its research and development (R&D) effort and comprehensive cooperation with Volvo Car. -

The Bolt also sells for around $30,000 when a federal tax credit is included. Electric vehicles have failed to catch on with most American consumers, but General Motors hopes the improved range and price help shift opinions. Mark Reuss, GM's head of global product development, described the Bolt as a "moon shot." "We didn't have all the answers when we started the program—in terms of how far we were going to get range-wise, how light are we going to get the car and ... sell price," he said.
