Logging in to the app (and logging out) You don’t need to log in to the app in order to use it. However you do need to log in in order to: 1. download a purchase from eBooks.com 2. access the online store 3. create and use collections 4. backup your annotations (bookmarks, notes, highlights) on to our online backup server. We recommend staying logged in to the app at all times. You don’t have to be connected to the internet to remain logged in, but if you log out of the app you will need an internet connection to log back in. 1.1 Logging in to the app Step 1: Launch the app & press the Log In button Press the ‘Log In’ text in the top left corner to bring up the login box Step 2: Enter your ebooks.com username & password and tap Submit button If you have not previously created an account you can do so by tapping “No account yet? Register here” 1.2 Logging out of the app We recommend staying logged in to the app at all times. But you may want to log out if for instance you have multiple people using one device. (i.e. a family tablet and each family member has their own bookshelf) Step 1: Launch the app & press the Log Out button 2. Downloading your purchase So you have made a purchase and want to know how to download it to the app. In these instructions we are going to assume you have launched the app on your iOS device and logged in. If you haven’t already done this please follow the steps detailed in 1.1 Logging in to the app, then return to this section. Step 1: Tap the Sync button in the bottom right of the screen Step 2: Tap the cover of the book you wish to download, then tap Download Step 3: Once the download finishes, the book will open and paginate Please wait for pagination to reach 100% before reading your book. If it gets stuck or doesn’t complete, please exit the book and reopen it. 3. Reading your book / using the in-book options menu When you have a book open the controls are simple. 1. Tap the right side of the screen to turn forward a page 2. Tap the left side of the screen to turn backward a page 3. Tap the middle of the screen to bring up the menu Note you can also swipe your finger from right to left to turn the page when reading an EPUB, or swipe bottom to top to turn the page when reading a PDF. Once you have opened the menu you have multiple options across the top of the screen: 1. Add a bookmark 2. Add a note 3. Highlight text Along the bottom of the screen you have the menu bar. Explanations of each icon will follow (4). There is also a slide bar where you can quickly press and drag the slider to jump to any page in your book (5). In the menu on the bottom of the screen are multiple options: 1. Toggle Day or Night mode 2. Toggle rotation lock on/off. When rotation lock is off, when you rotate your device the display will change from portrait to landscape, or vice versa 3. Exit the current book and return to your bookshelf 4. View the table of contents 5. View a list of all the bookmarks, notes and text highlights created inside this book 6. Adjust the brightness 7. Preferences. For changing font type, text color, background color and device volume button functionality 8. Increase font size. For PDF ebooks the symbol is just (+) and zooms in instead 9. Decrease font size. For PDF ebooks the symbol is just (-) and zooms out instead 10. Search within the entire text of the book 11. Share menu: twitter, facebook, google+ and email 4. Adding more books to your bookshelf There are multiple ways to add new books to your bookshelf. You can either 1. Buy and download books from the eBooks.com website 2. Import books that are already stored on your device in either internal memory, or SD card 3. Download PDF or EPUB files directly from the internet and open them in Ebook Reader Note that in order to import your own ebooks or download books from the internet, the files need to be DRM-free and either EPUB or PDF format. 4.1 Via the eBooks.com store In these instructions we are going to assume you have already logged in to the app. If you haven’t, please follow the steps detailed in 1.1 Logging in to the app, then return to this section. Step 1: Launch your web browser and navigate to www.ebooks.com Step 2: Find the book you are after and Add to cart Step 3: Press to go the Checkout Step 4: Login in, then enter your card details and complete the purchase Once the purchase is complete you can return to your bookshelf and download the book by following the steps detailed in 2 Downloading your purchase. 4.2 Importing your own ebooks If your ebooks are not already stored on your device then the first step is to transfer them across. Note that in order to import your own ebooks the files need to be DRM-free and either EPUB or PDF format. We will start the instructions assuming that you have already attached your iOS device to your computer, and that you already have files on your computer ready to transfer. Step 1: Open iTunes, click on your device, then click Apps Step 2: scroll down, click on Ebook Reader, then click Add File Step 3: Select the books you want to import, then click Open Step 4: Click Sync. Wait for sync to finish then unplug your device 4.3 Downloading from the web Many websites offer free ebooks available to download. Or many website offer reports and other documents in PDFs. Using Ebook Reader you can download these files directly from your browser to Ebook Reader. Note that in order to download books from the internet the files need to be DRM-free and either EPUB or PDF format. Step 1: Launch your web browser and navigate to your website of choice Step 2: Press the download link to initiate download Step 3: Press Open in…, then Open in Ebook Reader 5. Managing collections Creating collections is a good way of organising and grouping your books. Please note you need to be logged in to the app to access the collection menu. 5.1 Creating a collection Step 1: Launch the app, press All Books, then ADD COLLECTION Step 2: Add a new collection 1. Enter the collection name of your choice (e.g. Young Adult Fiction, History textbooks, Autobiographies, Holiday reads, Vampire romance, Book club) 2. Press Done 5.2 Adding or removing books from a collection Step 1: Press the All Books heading, then select the collection Step 2: press Edit Step 3: Select the books to add/remove to this collection 1. Tap each book you want to add to the collection, so the green tick is showing 2. Tap any book you want to remove from the collection, so the green tick is removed from the cover 3. Press Done to save your changes 5.3 Deleting a collection Step 1: Launch the app, select the collection, then press Edit Step 2: Press the trashcan icon, then OK 6. Deleting or re-downloading a book Deleting books can create more space on your device. If they are in your eBooks.com account they can always be re-downloaded. Or if you are having trouble with a book, re-downloading the file may help resolve the problem. Step 1: Press and hold the book cover you wish to delete / redownload Step 2: Select Re-download, or Remove 7. This includes copyediting, designing layout templates, laying out the document in InDesign, and producing an index. My research is focused on the best practices and standards for publishing. Lessons learned from my research and experience include layout best practices, particularly linespacing and alignment guidelines, as well as the limitations and capabilities of InDesign, particularly its endnote functionality. Based on the results of this project, I can recommend self-publishers to understand the software and distribution platforms prior to publishing a book to ensure the required specifications are met to avoid complications later in the process. This document provides details on many of the software, distribution, and design options available for self-publishers to consider. EXHIBITION “Wild/LIFE: Guild of Book Workers Triannual Exhibition”, June 2021 to September 2022 DESCRIPTION This exhibition features approximately 50 works by members of the Guild of Book Workers, an book artists organization that promotes interest in and awareness of the tradition of the book and paper arts by maintaining high standards of workmanship, hosting educational opportunities, and sponsoring exhibits. Members were invited to interpret the theme of “wildlife” in any way they wish, be it literal or abstract, humorous or serious. In a biological sense, wildlife describes the myriad of creatures sharing this planet, interacting and adapting, all connected to each other and their environment. "Wild" also describes an untamable essence that survives despite the constraints of society and culture. As craftspeople, knowledge of materials and keen observation of how they behave (and often how they refuse to comply) is an integral part of the practice of book making, and a reminder of how traditional bookbinding materials originate in nature. The exhibition opens at the American Bookbinders Museum in San Francisco, CA in June 2021, and will continue to travel to five additional venues across the country, closing in the fall of 2022.

Monongahela National Forest hosts AFHA-sponsored AmeriCorps service at forest sites that enhance natural resources and tourism and connect local communities. The Eastern National Forests Interpretive Association (ENFIA) is a non-profit association that aids and promotes the historical, scientific, and educational activities of the USDA Forest Service. This activity book was made possible through grants and partnership agreements with AFHA AmeriCorps, ENFIA, and USDA Forest Service. Archaeology is the study of material culture left behind by people from the past. Material culture are things created or used by people, like stone tools, a glass bottle, or even an entire building. Archaeologists look for archaeological sites to try to answer questions about the past. A site is where artifacts, features, or ecofacts are grouped together in an area. This means people were in that area in the past, and it’s up to the archaeologist to figure out what they were doing there. Sometimes archaeologists find things that can’t be easily collected or are part of the environment past peoples used. These things are called features. Features are often large, like the foundation of a house, or difficult to collect from the site, like an ashy campfire ring. Therefore, the authors conducted a pilot study on (55) faculty members from various disciplines, they assured the importance of e-books in education and the need for them. Accordingly, the authors designed and published their book "Education Technology: Foundations and Applications" as an interactive application on apps platforms by using a design model that was developed by the authors, and by adopting a list of (28) standards divided into four domains to ensure the quality of the design and development of the e-book according to educational and technological standards. Thereafter, female students’ perceptions of the effectiveness of e-books and their self-efficacy in using it were identified by (44) female students of Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University. The results indicate that the students have the basic skills necessary to download and read e-books and take advantage of its characteristics, additionally, they believe in its usefulness and are satisfied with it as they intend to continue using e-books in the future.
