Box 248 Sullivan, MO 63080 EXECUTIVE SUMMARY Project Overview The overall purpose of the Meramec River Watershed Demonstration Project is to bring together relevant information about the Meramec River basin and evaluate the status of the stream, watershed, and wetland resource base. The project has three primary objectives, which have been met. The objectives are: 1) Prepare an inventory of the Meramec River basin to provide background information about past and present conditions. 2) Facilitate the reduction of riparian wetland losses through identification of priority areas for protection and management. 3) Identify potential partners and programs to assist citizens in selecting approaches to the management of the Meramec River system. These objectives are dealt with in the following sections titled Inventory, Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Analyses, and Action Plan. Inventory The Meramec River basin is located in east central Missouri in Crawford, Dent, Franklin, Iron, Jefferson, Phelps, Reynolds, St. Louis, Texas, and Washington counties. Found in the northeast corner of the Ozark Highlands, the Meramec River and its tributaries drain 2,149 square miles. -

Please note that we have previously submitted comments dated 15 April 2019 on Chapters 4-8 and Appendix B of the Paso Robles Subbasin Draft GSP. TNC is a global, nonprofit organization dedicated to conserving the lands and waters on which all life depends. We seek to achieve our mission through science-based planning and implementation of conservation strategies. For decades, we have dedicated resources to establishing diverse partnerships and developing foundational science products for achieving positive outcomes for people and nature in California. TNC was part of a stakeholder group formed by the Water Foundation in early 2014 to develop recommendations for groundwater reform and actively worked to shape and pass SGMA. We believe that the success of SGMA depends on bringing the best available science to the table, engaging all stakeholders in robust dialog, providing strong incentives for beneficial outcomes and rigorous enforcement by the State of California. Our specific comments related to Chapters 9-11 of the Draft GSP are provided in detail in Attachment B and are in reference to the numbered items in Attachment A. -

SGMA seeks to achieve sustainability, which is defined as the absence of several undesirable results, including “depletions of interconnected surface water that have significant and unreasonable adverse impacts on beneficial users of surface water” (Water Code §10721). The Nature Conservancy (TNC) is a science-based, nonprofit organization with a mission to conserve the lands and waters on which all life depends. Like humans, plants and animals often rely on groundwater for survival, which is why TNC helped develop, and is now helping to implement, SGMA. Earlier this year, we launched the Groundwater Resource Hub, which is an online resource intended to help make it easier and cheaper to address environmental requirements under SGMA. As a first step in addressing when depletions might have an adverse impact, The Nature Conservancy recommends identifying the beneficial users of surface water, which include environmental users. This is a critical step, as it is impossible to define “significant and unreasonable adverse impacts” without knowing what is being impacted. To make this easy, we are providing this letter and the accompanying documents as the best available science on the freshwater species within the boundary of your groundwater sustainability agency (GSA). -

Caracteres morfométricos derivados de la cabeza y sus apéndices son incluidos junto con ilustraciones detalladas de todos los caracteres. La quetotaxia de C. bruchi se compara con la de C. seminulum (Herbst), la única otra especie de Chaetarthriini para la cual se ha descripto la quetotaxia. PALABRAS CLAVE. Argentina. The primary chaetotaxy of the head capsule and head appendages of the larva of Chaetarthria bruchi Balfour-Browne is described for the first time. Morphometric characters derived from the head capsule and mouthparts are included, together with detailed illustrations of all characters. Chaetotaxy of C. bruchi is compared with that of C. seminulum (Herbst), the only other Chaetarthriini species for which the chaetotaxy has been described. KEYWORDS. -

Key words: Coleoptera, Hydrophilidae, Hydrophilinae, China Introduction The family Hydrophilidae contains 3 subfamilies (Hydrophilinae, Horclophinac and Sphaeri- diinac), about 140 genera and more than 2000 species. The subfamily Horelophinac contains one aquatic genus, Horeloplms d'ORCHYMONT, from New Zealand. With the exception of a few genera (e.g. Coelostoma BRÜLLE, Phacnostoma d'ORCHYMONT, Cocloctenus BALFOUR-BROWNE) Sphaeridiinae arc terrestrial or at most semiaquatic, living in a variety of habitats (leaf litter, dung, carrion, decaying organic matter, rotten wood, wet forest floor, ant nests, ...). This subfamily contains about 90 genera. They arc not included in this chapter. Though the ecological preferences of water beetles arc not always the same in areas far from one another, in most cases the observations on Hydrophilinae collected in China correspond to those obtained in Europe or North America.
