Excellent draftsman, watercolorist, portraitist, nature lover and landscape lover, he was a painter, illustrator and also a sculptor. He specialized in visionary landscapes and large symbolic frescoes. Delmotte won Richard Dupierreux first prize in Painting (1960), the Chapman First Prize, the silver medal of Belgian painting (1960) and the gold medal of the European Council for Art and Aesthetics (1964). He was a student with Franz Courtens (father of the sculptor Alfred Courtens) at the Academy of Antwerp and his work is related to Albert Baertsoen. Julien Célos engraved a large number of etchings of picturesque corners in large Flemish cities, but also traveled to France, England, Tunisia and the Netherlands. He found his themes in old neighborhoods of Dutch and Flemish cities, such as beguinages, alleys and canal views. Julien Célos worked with a broad, light and pasty touch and was a member of the artists' circles "Als Ik Kan" and "La Gravure Originale Belge", of which the Mechelen painter Albert Geudens was also a member. Delporte's work is described as that of a seer who has rediscovered alchemy and is based on a scientific basis. Four movements can be distinguished in his work: realistic, genetic, geophysical and nuclear. Worldwide, more than 300 of his visual artworks have been exhibited in museums, organizations, churches and cities such as the Royal Museums of Fine Arts of Belgium, the Royal Palace of Brussels, the Élysée Palace and the National Library in Paris, the Museum of Contemporary Art Art in Tokyo, the Museum of Modern Art in São Paulo, the Museum of Fine Arts in Montevideo, the Belgian Embassy in Beijing, the University of Houston, St. Paul's Church (Antwerp) and much more. From 1990 to 2013, a museum was established in Damme, the Charles Delporte Museum. He was a student of the Belgian painter Léon Van den Houten (School of Charleroi). Ben Genaux evolved from figurative art to surrealism and then devoted himself to abstract art. Somville grew up in poor conditions after the early death of his father. Because of this and under the influence of his uncle, a lithographer, he joined the Communist Party of Belgium. The Spanish Civil War and the Second World War left a mark on his life. He studied from 1940 to 1942 at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of Brussels and from 1942 to 1945 at the École Nationale Supérieure d'Architecture et des Arts Décoratifs by Charles Counhaye [5]. Under his influence, he developed a monumental expressive style. He was director of the Academy of Fine Arts in Watermael-Boitsfort from 1947 to 1986. In 1951 he joined La Jeune Peinture Belge. In the same year he founded the "Céramique de Dour" with his wife Simone Tits. As one of the leaders of Neo-Realism, he wrote the manifestos of 1958 and 1966. After the May days of 1968, he founded the "Mouvement réaliste" (Realistic Movement) in 1969. Most famous are his murals such as "Notre temps" (1974-76) in the Brussels metro station Hankar [6], and in the Université catholique de Louvain in Louvain-la-Neuve, (together with the 'Collectif d'art' which he founded public ',) a work of 410 m² around the theme "what is an intellectual?" In 1946, together with his friends Edmond Dubrunfaut and Louis Deltour, he founded a "Center for the renewal of the tapestry of Tournai". "Triomphe de la Paix" (Brussels Congress Palace, 1963 is one of his best known designs).
