Entire Shivalik belt will develop as a tourist destination: Manohar Lal By : INVC Team Published On : 21 Feb, 2018 02:50 PM IST INVC NEWS Haryana, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal today said that keeping in view the scope of tourism, State government will develop entire Shivalik belt as a tourist destination of international standard including Lohgarh, Adibadri and other places of religious and cultural importance. He also announced that road from Shahabad to Lohgarh via Barara-Dosadka- Sadhaura-Bhagwanpur will be named after Baba Banda Singh Bahadur. Besides, a big entry gate in the name of Baba Banda Singh Badadur will also be constructed at Shahbad. The Chief Minister was speaking after releasing a book ‘Lohgarh Sikh State Capital’ (World’s Largest Fort) authored by S.Harjinder Singh Dilgeer, S. Gagandeep Singh and S. Gurvinder Singh here today. This book published by Haryana Academy of History and Culture, Kurukshetra, contains 17 chapters on Lohgarh and epilogue containing illustrations of pictures and maps. He assured that government would provide all support for overall development of Lohgarh. A Trust for the same has already been formed and a Martial Art School and Museum would also be established. The Chief Minister also lauded the contribution of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur who had fought three battles against Mughals for freedom of the nation. The changes in water levels and quality are result of the development pattern of the ground water resources for irrigation and drinking water needs. Analyses of water level fluctuations are aimed at observing seasonal, annual and decadal variations. Therefore, the accurate monitoring of the ground water levels and its quality both in time and space are the main pre-requisites for assessment, scientific development and planning of this vital resource. Central Ground Water Board, North Western Region, Chandigarh has established Ground Water Observation Wells (GWOW) in Haryana State for monitoring the water levels. As on 31.03.2015, there were 964 Ground Water Observation Wells which included 481 dug wells and 488 piezometers for monitoring phreatic and deeper aquifers. In order to strengthen the ground water monitoring mechanism for better insight into ground water development scenario, additional ground water observation wells were established and integrated with ground water monitoring database.

CHAPTER II HISTORY ANCIENT PERIOD The archaeological discoveries prove that the region of Panipat was inhabited by human beings from very earlier times and had been the centre of vigorous cultural and political activity. We know from the hymns of the Rigveda (VII, 18,19; V.52,17) that the Bharatas of the Saraswati Valley held sway up to the Yamuna river and defeated Ajas, Sigrus and Yaksus1. The archaeological heritage of Panipat region can be divided into pre-historic, proto-historic and historical phases. The extent of archaeological sites of Panipat district, numbering 63, can be classified into Pre-Harappan, Harappan, Late Harappan, Painted Grey Ware (PGW), Grey Ware, Early Historical, Early Medieval and Medieval periods2. Alexander Cunningham and Rodgers were the first archaeologists who collected some relics specially coins from a few sites of Panipat. But it was in the year 1952 that B. B. Lal of Archaeological Survey of India discovered Painted Grey Ware and Northern Black Polished Ware from the mounds of Panipat and Sonepat. S. B. Chaudhary also discovered the Painted Grey Ware at Baholi, 13 kilometres to north-west of Panipat3. Subsequent archaeological explorations conducted by a number of archaeologists and recent explorations along the right bank of River Yamuna conducted under the supervision of C. Dorje have resulted to the discovery of Dull Red Ware in Garsh Sanrai in Panipat Tehsil and Red Ware, Red Polished Ware and Dull Red Ware in Jaurasi Khalsa in Samalkha Tehsil of Panipat district. These explorations have brought to light several ancient mounds containing the relics of bygone history4.

This phenomenon – in-spite of the Indian government’s comprehensive effort to contain it – has been spreading its vicious influence and expanding its support base among the conflicting religious communities in many parts of the country. The existing views, in regard to the rise of religious terrorism, suggest that economic, socio-political or geo-political issues (that cropped up during the post-partition period) are responsible for the birth of the problem. However, so far no study is done collectively on the four (Sikh, Kashmiri Muslim, Hindu and Naga Christian) religious communities to explain the cause of the problem.

Sikhism preaches a message of constant devotion and remembrance of God, true life, and human equality, while condemning superstitions and blind rituals.
