Women & Girls Soft Ball Indoor Cricket Rules Competition Rules 1. TITLE 1.1 The title of the competition shall be the Shropshire Cricket Women & Girls Soft Ball Indoor Competition. 2. MANAGEMENT 2.2 The control of the competition shall be undertaken by the SCB. 2.3 All decisions relating to these rules or to matches played in the competition shall be final and binding on all concerned. 3. ELIGIBILITY 3.1 The competition shall be open to all affiliated clubs and any individuals wishing to compete. 4. QUALIFICATION OF PLAYERS 4.1 A player may represent a club/team if they are 13 years and over (as of 31st August prior to the season of the competition.) 4.2 Players may play for only one team in this competition in any one season. 4.3 Each team may have a squad of up to 8 players with only 6 players taking part in each match. 5. CRICKET BALLS & EQUIPMENT 5.1 The SCB shall be responsible for supplying the balls, stumps and markers for the competitions. 5.2 Please bring all other equipment with you, plastic or wooden bats can be used. 6. UMPIRES & SCORERS 6.1 Clubs should ensure they have provision for an umpire and a scorer. 7. FINANCE 7.1 There will be an entry fee chargeable and payable before the commencement of the competition 8. RESULTS 8.1 Results will need to be completed on the Official Result sheet and signed by both captains. 9. PITCH 9.1 The length of the pitch will be 22 yards. 9.2 The bowler’s crease will be extended for the non-striking batsman up to maximum of 2 yards 10. START / DURATION 10.1 The two teams toss a coin to decide which team has the choice of either batting or fielding first. Women and Girls Soft Ball Indoor Rules 10.2 Throughout the Tournament each game shall consist of one innings per team 10.3 Each innings to be 6 overs long. 6 balls per over, see 12.3 10.4 Same end to be used throughout the game. 11. BATTING 11.1 Batters will be in pairs 11.2 Batters may run on any ball whether it is hit or not. 11.3 Batters can be caught out off any wall or ceiling but not the boundary (back) wall. 11.4 Batters hitting the roof or onto the balcony (Wrekin College), or net supporting bar will be out. 11.5 Each team starts batting with a score of 200 runs. 11.6 Each time a batter is out, 5 runs are DEDUCTED from the batting team score, the other batter of the pair faces the next ball. 11.7 A batter may be out bowled, caught, run out, stumped, hit wicket. 11.8 There is no LBW law unless the batter deliberately blocks the ball with a leg or foot. 11.9 Runs will be scored in the normal way, as will byes see 14. Scoring 11.10 At the end of the first 2 overs, the first pair of batters retires and is replaced by the second pair until all 3 pairs have batted for 2 overs each. 11.11 The second team then bats for its 6 overs. 12. BOWLING 12.1 Any player may bowl, including the wicket keeper. 12.2 Bowling should be over arm where possible 12.3 Only 6 balls to be bowled in any over, except in the final over 12.4 Runs will be awarded to the batting team for each wide ball and no ball bowled. 12.5 No extra ball will be allocated, if a wide or no ball is bowled. 12.6 In the last over then the ball will have to be re-bowled. 12.7 If a ball bounces more than twice before reaching the popping crease a no ball will be called. 12.8 Minimum of 5 bowlers per innings (maximum of 2 overs per bowler). 12.9 All bowling to be bowled from one end only. 12.10 Players on the fielding side DO NOT need to rotate fielding positions. 12.11 A fielder may move into the restricted area to field a ball provided she was outside the area when the stroke was made. 12.12 ECB Fast Bowling Directives will NOT apply to this competition. 13. FIELDING 13.1 Fielders in front of the batter must stand at least 8 yards from the batter or against the wall, whichever is closer 13.2 The umpire must stop the game in the event of rule 13.1 being broken and must ensure the fielder is further than 8 yards away from the batter before play resumes. SCORING 14.1 Add 3 extra runs to the team score for each no ball or wide bowled by the opposing team. 14.2 Extras should not be added to the batters score except no balls where additional runs are scored (example – a no ball is bowled, 3 runs are added to extras, the batter hit it for 4 – this goes on the batters score and the team score – overall team runs scored for this delivery is 7). 14.3 No extra balls to be bowled for illegal deliveries, except in the last over, if a wide or no ball is bowled the bowler must bowl each illegal delivery again. 14.4 1 run will be awarded if the ball hits the wall and the batters do not run. 14.5 2 runs will be awarded if the ball does not hit the wall and the batters complete a run. 14.6 3 runs will be awarded if the ball hits the wall and the batters complete a run. 14.7 4 runs will be awarded if the ball hits the back wall without hitting the side wall but bounces. 14.8 6 runs will be awarded if the ball hits the back wall without hitting the side wall but does not bounce. 14.9 1 run shall be awarded if the ball is thrown by a fielder following fielding the ball and the ball hits any wall or the ceiling. This rule can apply more than once during the same delivery. 14.10 Score sheets will be provided by the Competition Manager. 15. RESULT OF A MATCH 15.1 The team with the highest score wins. 15.2 A tied game is acceptable - a tied game is if both teams score the same amount of runs, regardless of wickets lost. 16. RESULT OF A COMPETITION (GROUP STAGES OR LEAGUE FORMAT) 16.1 If a league format is used 4 points will be awarded for a win and 1 for a loss. 16.2 For cancelled matches due to weather/access each team will receive 2 points. 16.3 Failure to fulfill fixture -2 points, 4 points to opposition 16.4 At the end of the league stage, if two or more teams have the same number of points the following shall apply: 16.5 The head to head result will apply 16.6 If still unresolved the team that has scored the most runs in total throughout the competition should be the winner – this will also apply if more than two teams have the same number of points. 17. ORGANISERS DECISION In all matters relating to the competition the organiser’s decision shall be final and binding. Aim 1.1 The enjoyment for, and fair play by all players.
