1 INTRODUCTION

As part of Cricket’s vision to be Australia’s favourite sport - a sport for all, the National All Abilities Strategy for Game and Market Development has been developed to grow disability participation at all levels of cricket.

MILO in2CRICKET SKILLS PROGRAM PROFILE

WHAT A MILO in2CRICKET Skills program runs four weeks in schools with a set curriculum e.g. Week 1: Fielding, Week 2: , Week 3: and Week 4: Modified Games. This will lead into a Dream Cricket Gala Day. WHY MILO in2CRICKET Skills provides students with an introduction to cricket. WHERE To be delivered in all schools including those catering for special needs students. WHEN Based on State and Territory cricket calendars. This will lead to MILO in2CRICKET or MILO T20 Blast. WHO All Abilities Cricket Field-Force (School Ambassadors, Community Ambassadors, Dream Cricket Staff, Rotarians and Casual Staff including Cricket Australia Sport Development Program students (CA SDP)). HOW  Recruit and train a National All Abilities Cricket Field-Force.  Customise operational, promotional and administrative material.  School bookings are coordinated by the appropriate person in the region.  Recruit school ambassadors as key drivers for this program.  Provide each casual staff coordinator with a kit bag with specifically tailored equipment.

WHAT RESOURCES MILO in2CRICKET introduces girls and boys to Australia’s favourite sport. Club cricket provides opportunities for participants to further develop their cricket skills in a structured, safe and enjoyable learning environment. WHY Club cricket is the cornerstone of the Australian Cricket Talent Pathway. WHERE Community cricket clubs within each local cricket association. WHAT A structured day of competition where teams of players of all abilities play round robin games culminating in finals matches in two divisions, MILO T20 Blast (participation) and super league (high performance). The format of the day is very similar to MILO T20 Blast Schools Cups. WHY To provide opportunities for cricketers with a disability to participate in a structured cricket carnival and to provide an opportunity for State and Territories to conduct talent ID for their State and Territory All Abilities Squads. WHERE State and Territory Carnivals are to be delivered in the one metropolitan location in each state and territory. WHEN Based on State and Territory cricket calendars. WHAT National Indoor Cricket Championships for State and Territory All Abilities indoor cricket squads. The Lord’s Taverners Shield is a division within the National Indoor Cricket Championships (e.g. Mainstream competition). WHY To provide a competition and training-based opportunity that accelerates and showcases All Abilities Cricket talent. WHERE Indoor Cricket National Championships are hosted on a rotational basis by each State. WHEN Annually in July each year. WHO Team Management Staff (Coach, Assistant Coach, Team Manager, Physiotherapist/s and other support staff as required). As well as industry sector leaders appointed selection panel. HOW  Through the appointment of a selection panel.  Selection of players is based on performance and development growth potential at all levels (club, State/Territory and national squads).  Cricket Australia provide Director of Coaching for the week assisted by two other coaching support staff.

KFC T20 BIG BASH LEAGUE (BBL)

OBJECTIVE We want cricket to be a sport that all Australians enjoy regardless of their age, background, gender or ability. The KFC T20 Big Bash League (BBL) plays a part in this strategy and was created to appeal to kids, families and women as well as cricket lovers – the objective of the BBL is to drive new fans and participants to the game of cricket.

From a fan perspective the BBL is easily accessible with simple rules, short games and a social festival like atmosphere. From a player perspective the BBL inspires those with disabilities to get involved in the game from participating in the MILO entry level programs through to club cricket and community carnivals. National squads and the national all abilities championships provide a complete pathway for players with the BBL a key inspiration to picking up the bat and bowling the first ball.
