WORLD PREMIERE FOR NEW ANTARA AND CORSAVAN CONCEPT • New Corsa: Exciting, individual and dynamic • Vectra OPC: Now with 280 hp and modified chassis • New GT: Legendary sports car with modern design • Astra TwinTop: Coupé among cabrios brings breath of fresh air • Vivaro and Movano: New editions consolidate commercial vehicle success Paris. Opel presents two world premieres as well as numerous updated and enhanced models at the Paris Motor Show (September 30 – October 15, 2006). The new Antara makes its first public appearance at the Opel stand in Hall 5.2 of the Paris expo grounds. With the technologically sophisticated and dynamically designed four-wheel drive five-seater, Opel is again staking a claim as leader among volume manufacturers in the SUV and crossover segment. As one of the most important new models of the 2006 car year, the fourth Corsa generation is also on display in Paris parallel to its market launch on October 7. With its sporty, athletic contours, agile handling, roomy interior and feel-good ambience, the popular Opel is perfectly positioned to reach top sales figures again. While the coupé-like three-door and family-friendly five-door Corsa models debuted in London, the sporty CorsaVan concept study, which is based on the three-door Corsa, makes its public premiere in the French capital. The new Opel GT – legitimate heir to the legendary sports car – is contending for the title of public darling in Paris. With its sharply cut lines, rear-wheel drive and 260-hp turbo engine, the new model echoes the successful concept of the original 1970s GT. In addition to the exciting two-seater, which has its market launch in spring 2007, the Opel top performers in OPC blue are also showcased in Paris. With engine output increased to 280 hp and chassis tuning modified accordingly, the Vectra OPC clearly spearheads this five-model OPC range. The Astra TwinTop is another real eye-catcher at the Opel stand in Paris. Since May 2006, the stylish “coupé among cabrios” brings a breath of fresh air to the open-air segment. Just - 2 - like its little brother Tigra TwinTop, it impresses with a three-part electro-hydraulic retractable steel roof and luggage compartment volume of up to 440 liters. New engines, new technology, new variants, new equipment ranges – Opel has completely updated the Vivaro and Movano models and given the Vivaro a fresh new face. With both new van editions, Opel strengthens its commitment in the growing commercial vehicle market in the up to 3.5-ton gross weight segment. “City Lights” at Opel Stand As visitors to the Paris Motor Show have come to expect, all GM brands are again united under one roof. This year they are in Hall 5.2 for the first time. Covering over 2000 square meters at the “Parc des Expositions”, Opel’s own stand is designed to reflect the leading roles played by the Antara, which makes its premiere, and the new Corsa. Both vehicles are visible from all sides on a darker, slightly elevated platform with a layout reminiscent of a fashion show catwalk. In total, about 30 vehicles are showcased against a backdrop of “city lights”. The skyscraper panorama surrounding the Antara and Corsa is made of light boxes that serve as projection screens for constantly changing colors and images. The “Le Parkour” ensemble also performs acrobatics shows created just for the new Antara. Special lighting effects on the stand floor and light box columns illuminate further highlights such as the OPC area. Technical demonstrations as well as vehicle accessories and extras complete Opel’s creative exhibition space. For the first time, Opel has designed a separate stand in Hall 2.1 specifically for commercial vehicles. The new editions of the Vivaro and Movano vans play the leading roles here. Antara World Premiere: Modern Crossover with Character - 3 - Following the enthusiastic reaction to the GTC crossover concept car at the IAA 2005, Opel presents the Antara in best production form in Paris shortly before its market launch. With the new four-wheel drive crossover, Opel makes a strong comeback in a segment that has long been dominated by non-European brands. The technologically sophisticated five-seater combines dynamic, elegant design with intelligent active four-wheel drive, generous interior space, high levels of functionality and a raised seat position. The attractive visual contrast between the lower section’s distinctive robustness and the taut body surfaces highlights the Antara’s versatile character. In the interior, generous space for all passengers – with best-in-class 933 millimeters of rear legroom, for example – is complemented by an excellent load volume of up to 1420 liters. The Antara’s luggage compartment can be enhanced by nets, dividing walls, rods and hooks that snap into two rails on each of the side walls when needed, allowing the load area to be separated into different sections. Opel continues this versatility on the exterior with the innovative rear carrier system “Flex Fix”. Even with its large load capacity, the crossover takes up no more space than a mid-size passenger car (length x width x height: 4.57 x 1.85 x 1.70 meters). The Antara’s intelligent active four-wheel drive system with electro-hydraulic differential ensures safe, agile handling and combines the benefits of pure front-wheel drive − effortless maneuvering, tracking stability when accelerating and increased driving dynamics − with those of four-wheel drive. The Antara also boasts a modern four-channel ABS and ESP system, as well as Descent Control System (DCS). DCS allows the vehicle to safely maintain a constant speed even down steep inclines without the driver needing to brake. It is noteworthy as a standard feature in the Antara segment. The fuel efficiency of the modern crossover makes it even more attractive. The 2.0-liter common-rail turbo-diesel unit with 110 kW/150 hp, for example, requires only 7.5 liters fuel per 100 kilometers. Two gasoline engines are also available: a 2.4-liter four-cylinder unit with 103 kW/140 hp and the top-of-the-line 3.2-liter V6 with 167 kW/227 hp, which is especially smooth-running and refined. New Corsa: Aiming for the top with dynamic, exciting design and plenty of comfort - 4 - Just in time for its market launch (October 7 in Germany), the fourth-generation Corsa showcases its best features: exciting design with sporty, athletic contours, a newly developed chassis for safe and agile cornering, remarkable high-tech features, high-quality interior, plenty of space and numerous clever ideas such as the integrated rear carrier system “Flex-Fix”. The popular Opel has everything it takes to make its mark on European sales figures. The newcomer also receives top ratings when it comes to safety: the Corsa was awarded a maximum score of five stars for passenger safety in the Euro NCAP (Euro pean New Car Assessment Programme) tests, as well as good marks for its special child passenger and pedestrian protection measures. The distinctively different coupé-like three-door and family-friendly five-door Corsa models are tailor-made for different types of customers. With its sharp lines and coupé-like roof line, the three-door model is aimed at young adults and the young at heart, while the five-door Corsa version with longer roof line and larger side windows is more likely to appeal to families. Short wheel overhangs and pronounced fenders over the rear wheels highlight the Corsa’s powerful, sporty character, which flows into a chic, elegant interior. Striking new features such as backlit turn buttons create a warm and inviting atmosphere. Piano-lacquer finish used in selected equipment variants refines interior surfaces and sets new benchmarks in this segment. The large variety of options – the infotainment range alone features five systems with output of up to 150 watts – is also unsurpassed in the Corsa class. Initially available with three gasoline and three common-rail turbo-diesel engines, the Corsa also maintains these premium standards when it comes to driving dynamics and safety. Its steering is one example: a special feature of the speed-dependent electronic power steering is its variable – or in the Sport version variable progressive – feedback curve. A segment first, this technology alters the steering ratio to suit each driving situation. The spectrum ranges from sharp, extremely direct sports car steering to a maneuvering mode. The Corsa’s steering is complemented perfectly by newest-generation ABS and ESP systems that boast additional functions such as Cornering Brake Control (CBC) and Straight-Line Stability control (SLS), as well as a Deflation Detection System (DDS). The combination of dynamic curve light and static cornering light in one lamp unit is also new in this vehicle segment. CorsaVan concept: Sporty, eye-catching city van - 5 - The CorsaVan concept study that Opel presents for the first time at the Paris Motor Show boasts sporty looks, high-quality interior and a large load space. Based on the new three- door Corsa, the model showcases how the Corsa’s dynamic style might look if transferred to a city van. The CorsaVan concept study is the same striking glossy glamour red of the Opel GT debuted at the Geneva Motor Show. To create a bold contrast, the panels that replace the city van concept’s rear side windows are black. Distinctive sporty features include red front brake calipers, 17-inch alloy wheels with five-spoke design and OPC-line components, such as bumpers, side sills and rear spoiler. Black leather sport seats with red side bolsters on the seat backs, and piano-lacquer surfaces familiar from the Corsa Cosmo create a fresh ambience in the two-seater’s interior.
