With Gstaad this is: authenticity, harmony, warmth and hospitality. This is based on Gstaad's chalets, which are either original or freshly-interpreted but always true to tradition. They refl ect the typical character of the holiday region of Gstaad. Saanen As many cows as people Gstaad has a population of 7,200. And almost as many cows. Nothing would work here without Simmental cattle. They provide excellent milk for the famous Alpine cheese and Hobelkäse. Their savory air-dried beef is also a delicacy. In spite of its wealth of tourist facilities, the holiday region of Gstaad has retained its Alpine authenticity. FONDUELAND GSTAAD With its gentle topography and varied speciality cheeses, the region of Gstaad offers the perfect mix for sophisticated bons vivants. In Fondueland Gstaad, there is nothing more natural than enjoying a delicious fondue surrounded by the mountain landscape. In a place where fresh air, lush pastures and herbs provide the best possible basis for outstanding cheese. Two specially designated huts and two inordinately large fondue pots, each with enough room for up to eight people, provide the perfect backdrop for dining, socialising and marvelling at the unparalleled panoramic views. Whether you travel on foot, by bike, by sledge or on snowshoes, or even if you would like to choose your very own outdoor relaxation spot – anything is possible in Fondueland Gstaad. The fondue backpack This is made possible thanks to the fondue backpack in a nostalgic design. It contains all of the ingredients needed for the irresistible outdoor experience: a full set of preparation equipment, either a traditional thick fondue or a particularly fl avoursome truffl e fondue made by the Schönried Dairy, as well as crusty fondue bread supplied by the Wehren Bakery, spices, fondue pot, warmer, plates and forks. Gstaad, in the Bernese Oberland region of the Swiss Alps, is well known to celebrities and royalty as a protected playground. For decades it was the place to go for well-disguised paparazzi as it was known as a gathering spot for such icons as Elizabeth Taylor, Richard Burton, Roman Polanski, Formula1 star Bernie Ecclestone, fashion designer Valentino, Madonna, Anne Hathaway, Salma Hayek and a cavalcade of Bollywood faves. But the locals maintain, "People go to St. Moritz to be seen, and to Gstaad to enjoy themselves." Each year, Doegen was invited to travel to Switzerland from Berlin for a few days with his heavy recording equipment to collect a few dozen dialect specimens recorded with speakers from all over Switzerland. Before each recording session suitable speak- ers were carefully selected – mainly based on dialectological criteria – and were asked to prepare a short text for recitation (usually in their vernacular), which they then delivered into Doegen’s phonograph. All in all, some 225 shellac records could be produced in this fashion, before Doegen fell in disfavour in Berlin and could no longer continue his collaboration with Zurich. While the recordings from the later so-called “LM” campaign in 1929, which were collected in the southern Swiss town of Bellinzona and the northern Italian town of Domodossola, have either already been published or are in the process of being published, the ca. 175 recordings from the 1924–1927 “LA” campaign, collected in Zurich, Bern, Chur, Sion and Brig, respectively, have been published only partially. This paper discusses the possibilities in making this precious Swiss dialectological treasure trove available both to the interested public and to dialectological research.

Zwahlen, Holland Grundherrschaft und Feudalität haben einen Anfang gehabt und sind einst entstanden. Seitdem im Frühmittelalter in Saanen fremde Grundherren allmählich Besitz ergriffen, wurde die Landschaft immer mehr vergrundherrlicht. Selbstverständlich widerspiegelt das Maß der Ausbreitung der Grundherrschaft sich im Grad von Freiheit der Bevölkerung, denn ihre Freiheit in der sogenannten vorgrundherrlichen oder altfreien Zeit war verschieden von jener in der grundherrlichen Periode.
