Drogadictos Anónimos: Dear Monsignor/Father, Drogadictos Anónimos - an organization with roots in Mexico - has worked in South Florida for several years with individuals and families suffering with substance abuse problems. Monsignor Oscar Castañeda has been very supportive of their efforts here locally - as have the bishops of Mexico where they are headquartered. Their Recovery Programs are drug-free residential settings with treatment stages that reflect increased levels of personal and social responsibilities. Their approach is similar to other 12-Steps programs, serving all the underprivileged population of Florida, especially Latino immigrants regardless of their ability to pay. All the representatives of Drogadictos Anónimos are former drug addicts that have found a new life thanks to the spiritual programs offered by them. They would appreciate the opportunity to give a short one-two minute “personal testimony” at your Masses - both to convey a message of hope to families dealing with this issue as well as to make their services better known to the broader community. Drogadictos Anónimos would also be grateful to have the opportunity to sell t-shirts after Mass to help support the work of this organization (though they would still be happy to talk without selling the t-shirts). I would encourage you to consider favorably their request when they contact you. For further infor- mation, you may contact them at [email protected] Sincerely yours in Christ, Most Reverend Thomas Wenski Archbishop of Miami Save the dates: Priesthood Ordination Vespers - May 23, 2014 at 7 p.m. at St. Mary Cathedral, 7525 NW 2nd Ave. Miami, FL 33150. Priesthood Ordination - May 24, 2014 at 10 a.m. at St. Mary Cathedral, 7525 NW 2nd Ave. Mi- ami, FL 33150. Retreat for priests in Polish language: Priests are cordially invited to make a retreat completely in Polish at SS. Cyril and Methodius Semi- nary in Orchard Lake, Michigan. The retreat will happen June 2-5, 2014, and will be conducted by Fr. Marcin Jankiewicz from the Archdiocese of Lublin. The fee for the retreat is $300. Bridging the Gap Archdiocesan Resource Conference: Wednesday, August 6, 2014 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at St. Thomas University, 16400 NW 32nd Ave. Miami, FL 33054 Please save the date for the third annual professional development day for pastors, principals, admin- istrators, parish staff and school employees. Session topics will include project management, managing the maintenance function, MS Excel, update on social media, stewardship, creating a welcoming envi- ronment in the parish office, managing performance of employees, safe environment issues, planned giving (what it is and why it’s important), and more. Information will be forthcoming as the session schedules are finalized. The workshop is free to participants. For more information contact the ADOM Office of Human Resources at the Pastoral Center. Note on annulments: We have received a number of requests for urgent processing of petitions for declaration of nullity as a date had already been set for the wedding. May we remind everyone that the practice is not to give a date for wedding, if one or both parties are not free to marry. If there is a prior marriage, that situation needs to be resolved before a date is set for the wedding. Whether it is a full annulment or a lack of form or a Pauline privilege or documentary case, kindly have the declaration of nullity in hand before promising a date for marriage. Please note that marriages of non-Catholics conducted before the justice of peace or notary public or be- fore any other authorized person are valid marriages and will have to be processed through the regular annulment process. Some people were misled to believe that those marriages were not valid due to lack of form. This in- formation is wrong. Please feel free to call the Tribunal office, if you have any doubts. We will try our best to help you in whatever way we can, but please keep in mind that everything is not in our hands. If we refuse to give a date for the wedding without first establishing the freedom of the parties to marry, we can avoid many needless problems. For pastors and principals: Pastors and/or principals assign Local Coordinators for their parish/school. If your location does not have a Local Coordinator, please assign one now and contact Jan Rayburn in the Safe Environment Of- fice at 305-762-1250 or [email protected] to notify her of the appointment so that she can give them the access needed. Cemeteries host Memorial Day Masses: Catholic Cemeteries invites the community to the annual Memorial Day Masses celebrated at each of the archdiocese’s cemeteries, in remembrance of those who served in the U.S. military and secured the privileges enjoyed by Americans. In addition, the Masses give Catholics the opportunity to gather with their bishops to remember the souls of all the faithful departed who have gone to the Lord in the past year. The Masses will take place Monday, May 26, at 10 a.m., at Our Lady of Mercy Cemetery, 11411 N.W. 25 St., Miami, and Our Lady Queen of Heaven Cemetery, 1500 South State Road 7, North Lauderdale. Archbishop Thomas Wenski will celebrate the Mass in Broward and Auxiliary Bishop Peter Baldacchino will celebrate the Mass in Miami-Dade. On the weekend before the Mass, Boy Scouts from Davie and Doral will place American flags on the graves of all known servicemen and women buried in the Catholic cemeteries. COLORADO KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS Volume XVIII Issue II August, 2012 NIGHTS ALL K C S TATE OFFICER S State Chaplain LET FREEDOM RING! Rev. Robert D. Fisher This year, our Order is 130 years old. Additionally, on August 12th of State Deputy this year, it will be the 160th birthday of our founder, Father Michael J. Roger G. Muller, Sr. McGivney. Why is this significant? The significance is that ONE man, State Secretary our founder, had a vision of having men unite as one. To be in unity with Charles K. Page their faith, to be united doing charitable works and united in the care of State Treasurer the widows and children of his time. Over these 130 years, we have James D. Caffrey grown to over 1.8 million men world-wide who continue to unite together State Advocate and make a difference. How? We take the lead. We take this lead and John J. Doherty stand united as one voice for our concerns and the concerns of others. We have been seen standing State Warden together to provide food, shelter and clothing to those in need or in times of disaster. We are seen Christopher J. Foley continuing to stand together as the voice of the unborn, the mentally handicapped and the aged. If Immediate Past State Deputy we are to continue with our founder’s vision then we must continue to be one. The theme from this Foster J. Sauter year’s Supreme Convention states it all, for in being united we can, “Proclaim Liberty throughout Colorado District Master the Land”.

COLORADO KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS Volume XVIII Issue XI May, 2013 NIGHTS ALL K C S TATE OFFICER S HOMESTRETCH-WHAT’S IN IT FOR ME? Another Fraternal Year is coming to the end. So looking back what can we State Chaplain say? Are you better off at the end of this Fraternal Year than you were last Rev. Robert D. Fisher Fraternal Year? Or are you saying “I’m done” or maybe “I am the lame duck State Deputy who just coasts and will leave it for the next guy”. How easy is that to say and Roger G. Muller, Sr. “I did my share;” or “There is nothing to prove and nothing in it for us”. We State Secretary have a tendency to do that. If we do not see something tangible in it, we seem to coast and remain status quo or think the start of next Fraternal Year will be Charles K. Page better. Maybe our membership and program activities did not go the way we State Treasurer anticipated or maybe it did; but a glitch made everything seem for naught. We James D. Caffrey all have a tendency to be part of society’s “me’ generation and forget that we State Advocate are all volunteers who do what we can when we can. We forget that there will be times where the trials and tribulations of life get in the way and may lead to a mistake in judgment or John J. Doherty human error. Who hasn’t forgotten to turn in a form, missed a deadline or has just been too tired to go State Warden on at the time because it just was not a priority in our life.

Bishops named for Duluth, Pueblo; Providence to get auxiliary bishop WASHINGTON – Pope Benedict XVI has named new bishops for the Diocese of Duluth, Minn., and the Diocese of Pueblo, Colo., and has appointed an auxiliary bishop for the Diocese of Providence, R.I. He also accepted the resignation of Pueblo Bishop Arthur N. Tafoya, 76. The pope appointed Father Paul Sirba, a priest of the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis, to head the Duluth Diocese. He named Father Fernando Isern, a priest of the Miami Archdiocese, to succeed Bishop Tafoya as bishop of Pueblo. Pope Benedict also named Monsignor Robert C. Evans, a Providence diocesan priest, to be auxiliary bishop of the diocese. The changes were announced in Washington Oct. 15 by Archbishop Pietro Sambi, apostolic nuncio to the United States. Welcome to our Amazing Parish! 1708 Horseshoe Drive • Pueblo, Colorado • (719) 542-9248 http://www.ctkpueblo.org • facebook.com/christthekingcatholicparish September 23, 2018 Twenty-Fifth Sunday in Ordinary Time Please pray for the repose of the soul of Monsignor Thomas Adrians who passed away on the evening of Saturday, September 15, 2018. Monsignor Adrians was our Pastor here at Christ the King from 1995-2014. He was born June 10, 1940 in Appleton, WI and was ordained in 1967 at Holy Cross Abbey in Canon City, CO. Father Tom Adrians arrived at Christ the King in 1995. Happy to be appointed to the parish he found the parishioners to be friendly and a good base to call upon for help. Father Tom felt blessed to have a highly educated and effective staff through his years at Christ the King. The Parish also had many volunteers who served on social, church decorating and other committees. Father Tom enjoyed the frequent parish social events and was widely appreciated for his teaching while Pastor at Christ the King.
