Featured Events FOEC Fifteen Miles with Friends - Hike #4 Anniversary hike at Let's continue the 15th anniversary celebration of Friends of Euclid Creek. Join us Acacia for the fourth hike in our series of Fifteen Miles with Friends. We will hike one and a Reservation half miles in the Euclid Creek Reservation- Wildwood Park in . After on August completing this hike you will have reached the 3/4 point in your 15 miles! 2, Hike #3

When: September 6, at 6:30-8:00pm Where: Wildwood Park, Euclid Creek Reservation, Cleveland - park entrance at E. 174th Street and Lakeshore Blvd., 44110 Who: The hike will be led by Chris Vild, Vice President of FOEC. Hike difficulty: Flat to moderately rolling portions, slow pace; mostly paved with some creek/wetland edge walking. Parking: Park/meet up at the Wildwood Picnic Shelter.

Come out and see the restoration project three years after project completion and all of the wildlife enjoying the native habitat.

Wildwood Park Fall Wetland Cleanup Saturday, September 17, 10:00am-noon, Wildwood Park – Euclid Creek Reservation, Cleveland

Volunteers will help with planting native streamside plants, cleaning up trash, removing invasives and other maintenance activities in the wetland and streamside restoration area at the Wildwood Lacustrine Wetland.

National Wildlife Federation Backyard Habitat Stewards Training

Sept 1, 8, 10, 15, 17, 22, Highland Heights Community Center

NWF will teach you how to help people in your community create and restore wildlife habitat in backyards, schoolyards and other private and public areas. NWF will provide you with training to become a Habitat Stewards volunteer. Topics covered include habitat, landscaping, native plants, birds, reptiles, insects, and more, all taught by experts in interactive sessions. Helping to develop habitat sites, creating your own habitat, and assisting with educational or other events will count towards the 30 hours of volunteer time required after the training. Representatives of the Euclid Creek Watershed Council (ECWC), its Committees, Friends of Euclid Creek and watershed partner agencies will update you on the progress we've made in restoring the watershed in 2016. Education/Training Opportunities Safe Waters, Healthy Waters - August 31, 1:00 - 2:30pm webcast at EPA offices, 2110 East Aurora Road, Twinsburg, OH 44087 This free webcast highlights lessons from the recently released, Safe Waters, Healthy Waters: A Guide for Citizen Groups on Bacteria Monitoring in Local Waterways by the Center for Watershed Protection. The guide provides step-by-step instructions to create a customized bacteria monitoring program, methods to investigate potential pollutant sources, and resources for putting collected data to use. It focuses especially on human and monitoring techniques to identify specific sources of sewage. The webcast will also feature success stories coming out of Surfrider Foundation and Hudson Riverkeeper's bacteria testing programs.
