What a fabulous day it was! Lots of visitors (approx. 450), it was lovely to welcome many from the village as well as from further afield. The day started with the unveiling of three wonderful tapestries showing the mill at different times in its history. The Society is so grateful to the ladies of the Wrawby Make & Sale Group (Kath Flewker, Liz Hirst, Sheila Neave, Jen Wright, Jackie Rowson and Louise Tandon) for their hard work in creating such amazing depictions of the mill which are a fantastic addition to the exhibits in the round house. The Windmill Society is very grateful to the companies who sponsored the day. They were Peacock & Binnington, Grandad’s Shed, Brigg Mobility and Vicarage Motors, Wrawby. Thanks also to those who donated items for the amazing raffle & tombola. There was a wonderful display of classic cars, vintage tractors, stationary engines and even a World War II Jeep. Barnetby Silver Band entertained visitors which added to the fantastic atmosphere. Visitors enjoyed a wonderful BBQ provided by The Deli & Diner from Brigg and many different delicious flavours of ice cream from Roe’s Dairy Farm ice cream. Children enjoyed such diverse things as wellie wanging, bean bag throwing, bracelet making and glitter tattoos etc! Many tried their hand at archery under the watchful eye of a team of Cadets from Brigg. So many people helped before and on the day to make it such a success and the Society wishes to thank them all, especially Chris and Beryl Green for allowing the society to use their field and to all the residents of Mill Lane for putting up with the extra footfall and cars on the day! A grand total of £1006 was made on the day and this will help us to get a step nearer to grinding flour once again at the mill. Next year the Family Fun Day will be on Sunday 28th June 2020 & will have a VE theme. Please put the date in your diary!
