Fans can view the Cavaliers’ Larry O’Brien NBA Championship Trophy on Wednesday, Oct. 12 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Hall of Fame. Canton is the first stop on the Cavs’ #AllForOhio tour giving fans the opportunity to see and take a photo with the trophy. The trophy will be accompanied by an entourage of Cavs’ entertainment team members such as in-arena host Ahmaad Crump, members of the Cavalier Girls, Scream Team and Cavs mascot Sir C.C. The Hall of Fame and the Cavs will work together to accommodate as many fans as possible to see the trophy Wednesday, but viewing it is on a first- come, first-served basis. Fans will be admitted free of charge during the hours of 4-8 p.m. to view the trophy in the Hall of Fame’s Gold Jacket Lounge. Additionally, the entire museum will have extended hours on Oct. 12, and fans will be able to receive a $5 discount on all admission prices and a 20 percent discount on merchandise in the Hall of Fame Store between 4 and 8 p.m. The Cavs’ were awarded the Larry O’Brien Trophy after beating the Golden State Warriors in Game 7 of the 2016 NBA Finals and becoming the first team in NBA history to overcome a 3-1 deficit in the Finals. ### COMMITMENT • INTEGRITY • COURAGE • RESPECT • EXCELLENCE ABOUT THE PRO FOOTBALL HALL OF FAME Located in Canton, Ohio, the birthplace of the National Football League, the Pro Football Hall of Fame is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit institution with a Mission to Honor the Heroes of the Game, Preserve its History, Promote its Values, & Celebrate Excellence EVERYWHERE. McManus Information Systems Statistics and Management Science Department Culverhouse College of Business The University of Alabama USA Abstract In light of the recent progression in data collecting methods and the increased emphasis on the 3-point shot in today’s NBA, it is desirable to investigate the qualities of good 3-point shooters, especially in regards to more advanced player metrics. Motivated by this opportunity, we implement a regularized Bayesian quantile regression model to identify the most important non-shooting player metrics associated with the best 3-point shooters. The data used for modeling is a combination of SportVU player tracking data and other advanced metrics from the 2015-2016 NBA season. The results are positive and show support that the quantile regression model provides a more comprehensive and accurate assessment of 3-point shooters compared to using Bayesian linear regression. The application of quantile regression models on player tracking data incites opportunities for the development of more advanced analytical models that have the propensity to change the game of basketball. The current trend in the modern NBA, 3-point shooting, has become an invaluable and dominate tool to win games, significantly changing the game of basketball. In the 1979-1980 season, the season of its inception, NBA teams were shooting less than three 3-point field goals (FGs) per game; however, this number has drastically increased to more than 26 attempts per game in the 2016-2017 season.
