On October, 19th 1845 the young Elias Bakalowits open his own shop „Elias Bakalowits, Glassmaker and Glass Merchant “ Hoher Markt 515 on the Hoher Markt in Vienna 4 Before long Elias Bakalowits moves to more representative showrooms. Hoher Markt 5 Kärntnerstrasse 16 Kärntnerstraße 12 5 After his son Ludwig joined the company, E. Bakalowits & Sons grew and became one of the foremost crystal chandelier manufacturers in the Austro-Hungarian Empire. In 1892 Ludwig Bakalowits received the order to manufacture the chandeliers for the Neue Hofburg Palace in Vienna for Emperor Franz Joseph I and was appointed Imperial and Royal Purveyor to the Court. 6 1885 the company was exporting its products to America and Asia. In 1900, Bakalowits & Sons displayed their crystal chandeliers at the World Exposition in Paris. Other exhibitions in St. Petersburg, London, Geneva and Turin followed. 7 In 1955 Bakalowits was entrusted with the manufacture of new lighting fixtures for some of the Viennese buildings that had suffered damage during the Second World War. These included the Parliament, the State Opera House, the National Theatre, City Hall, St. Stephan’s Cathedral, and others. 8 Recognizing the increasing demand for luxury products in Asia and the Middle East in the 1960’s, Bakalowits extended its business to those regions through close cooperation with international architects and designers. It did so while continuing its growth in Europe, where Bakalowits manufactured the largest chandelier ever built for the Parliament in Belgrade, Yugoslavia.. 17 meter diameter, 19 tons total weight, 2200 spotlights à 500 Watt. • First Record of the Asian Bush Mosquito, Aedes
Seidel et al. Parasites & Vectors (2016) 9:284 DOI 10.1186/s13071-016-1566-6 SHORT REPORT Open Access First record of the Asian bush mosquito, Aedes japonicus japonicus, in Italy: invasion from an established Austrian population Bernhard Seidel1,2, Fabrizio Montarsi3, Hartwig P. Huemer4,5, Alexander Indra5, Gioia Capelli3, Franz Allerberger5 and Norbert Nowotny6,7* Abstract Background: In 2011 we identified the Asian bush mosquito, Aedes japonicus japonicus (Theobald, 1901) (Diptera: Culicidae) for the first time in northern Slovenia and in the bordering Austrian federal state of Styria. Between May and July 2012 the distribution area of Ae. j. japonicus was already found to be extended westwards into Carinthia and eastwards towards Burgenland and bordering Hungary. In August 2012 the species was first detected in a western province of Hungary. In subsequent years, follow-up field studies demonstrated an active spread westwards throughout Carinthia, reaching the border to northern Italy. Findings: In July 2015 several aquatic-stage specimens of the species were discovered at three different sites in the Friuli Venezia Giulia region, north-eastern Italy. In September 2015, co-occurrence of Ae. j. japonicus and Aedes albopictus (Skuse, 1895) was observed in the same sample in that region. Conclusions: Ae. j. japonicus actively extended its geographic range from an established population in Carinthia (Austria) southwards to northern Italy by crossing Alpine ranges. Since Ae. albopictus and Aedes koreicus (Edwards, 1917) are already well established in northern Italy, it will be pivotal to monitor the consequences of a third invasive mosquito species trying to populate the same geographic region.

  • The Fiction of the Life of Jonathan Fischer Chapters 8-10 PDF
The Fiction of the Life of Jonathan Fischer Chapters 8-10 PDF Chapter 8 – The Stellar Career of Jonathan Fischer Page 2 Chapter 9 – Poor or Rich? Dead or Alive? Page 9 Chapter 10 – The Trip to Jerusalem Page 34 Manual: This fiction was written for the reader to have a whale of a time. Please do not take every word seriously. "Einstein" and his friend and helper love it to pass on humorous, ambiguous and profound informations. The statement: "They proceeded at 4 a.m. or 4.14 a.m. to a 4 hour chat, to compose in the time span of 4 weeks 40 pieces of the DIN A4 formatted novel, to launch a party for 40 guests, at the 40th birthday of Jonathan Fisher, on the 14th of the 4th month", sounds more as a fairytale poem than a real incident. It is intended that the reader will ask himself over and over if the life of Jonathan Fisher really happened like that. The hero actually doesn't exist in reality, but the locations of the storyline are usually authentic. The names of the characters are deliberately chosen in a funny way. All through the constant interweaving and interchange of thoughts and experiences, which the fanciful novelists have collected, should come into being an interesting, exciting, funny, lively and instructive book. Have fun reading! The Swabian Cleverle. Recommendation for proper use and dosage: Walter Stein and his friend and helper of the fiction are quite comical types who were often misunderstood in their lives. They rightly got in trouble mixing truths and falsehoods with one another.

If you've already done any of our other walks, you'll know how it works but if not, I'll tell you now. As you've probably already noticed, each of these sections of the walk that you've downloaded on to your machine has a name - this first one is ‘The Reichstag’. Just consider each of these walks as individual tracks on an 'album' which is the complete tour of Berlin. You'll hear directions about where to go next at the end of each section but the route and the stopping points are also marked on your map which is on page four of this Printed Guide. When you get to a stopping point find somewhere to stand or sit which is out of the way of people and traffic and then play the relevant section of the walk. The map has been especially produced to help you find your way while you're listening to the audio guide which means that it's not drawn exactly to scale. Top tip: when you print out this Printed Guide or, at least, the map, set your printer to high quality or fine print so that the map is as clear as possible and easy to read.
