List of materials Introduction: The Solar Energy Project, Enhanced Rural Resilience in Yemen programme, United Nations Development Programme is planning to provide medium solar system supply, installation and commissioning for Health centers and schools in Hajjah Governorate (Aslam, Abs Districts), Hodeidah Governorate (Bajel, Al Zohra Districts), Lahej Governorate (Toban,Tor Albaha Districts) and Abyan Governorate (Kanfar, Lodar Districts). Scope of Work:s The Scope of work includes the complete supply, Installation, commissioning of solar systems, it includes among other Solar PV system consists of the following main components: (Solar Photo - Voltaic array − Solar PV array support structure – Charger and Inverter − DC, AC Protection Devices – Battery – Rack for Battery - Cables). System should have proper Earthling protections. Cables: - Cables and accessories are required for the DC cabling, panel wiring, battery wiring, cabling to charge controller, inverter. The bright annealed 99.9% pure bare copper conductors, low conductor resistance, lower heating. These wires should be insulated with a special grade PVC compound formulated and manufactured in- house. - The skin coloration should offer high insulation resistance and long life. Before supply - Must check the batteries voltage for 24 volt system which should be the same voltage in the two batteries. - The manufacturing date of batteries should not be more than 6 months of supply date. Extra cooling fan - The solar system must be installed with extra stand fan for cooling and to protect batteries and other equipment from high temperature and increase their life. Load connection - The supplier shall ensure that main distribution panel of the building should be connected from solar system (output form inverter only), - install mcb breaker for output form inverter to load and add manual change over switch between inverter and other power source - The mcb breaker and change over must be install in plastic enclosures. Earth protection - Each array structure and all metal casings of the panel etc. shall be earthed properly. And connected to ground hole including pure copper rod 16m and adding salts and carbon. This study was carried out to determine the prevalence of P. falciparum malarial disease among patients in Abs region, Hajjah Governorate, Yemen from September 2013 to May 2014. Both thick and thin films were made and stained using Giemsa stain. Blood smears of 1528 cases out of 8434 individuals showed malarial parasites in their blood, the overall prevalence percentage was 18.1%. Male subjects were more infected (18.17%) compared to females (18.04%). Incidence of falciparum malaria was higher in winter in comparison to other seasons. The infection mostly occurred in age groups of five to fourteen years old. Regarding the symptoms, patients showed fever (100%), followed by chills (89.8%), headache (85.4%) and vomiting (54.7%).

    MSF internal investigation of the 15 August attack on Abs hospital Yemen Summary of findings 27 September 2016 About the investigation This document summarises the findings from the internal investigation of the attack on the Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF)-supported Abs rural hospital in the Hajjah governorate in Yemen. A more detailed report will be released shortly. The objective of the investigation is to ascertain the facts surrounding the attack on the hospital and to establish whether the safety and security of staff and operations can be assured on the ground in Yemen. The investigation was carried out by an MSF humanitarian affairs adviser based at the organisation’s headquarters (HQ) in Barcelona, with critical support from past and present MSF staff involved in the Yemen operations at HQ and field level. For the purpose of this internal review, 35 interviews were conducted with key MSF staff from the Yemen mission and the Abs hospital project, including direct eyewitnesses of the attack, and with patients who were at the hospital at the time of the airstrike. Additionally, relevant internal and external documentation, Yemen context analyses and photographic material were reviewed. Introduction On Monday 15 August at 3.40pm local time, the Abs rural hospital in Hajjah governorate in northwestern Yemen was hit by an airstrike killing 19 people, including one MSF staff member, and injuring 24 others. At the time of the attack, there were 23 patients in surgery, 25 in the maternity ward, 12 in paediatrics and 13 newborns at Abs hospital. The airstrike constituted the fifth and deadliest attack on an MSF-supported medical service in Yemen in the past year, amidst countless attacks on other health facilities and services all over the country.

    YEMEN Conflict escalation in Hajjah, Yemen Anticipatory Briefing note – 14 April 2019 Escalation of conflict in Hajjah governorate, particularly in Abs district, risks displacing up to 400,000 people IDPs are likely to move in two directions: 1) South along the Tihama plain into northern Al Hudaydah, an area heavily impacted by the conflict-related displacement 2) To eastern districts of Hajjah, which have the highest cholera rates in the governorate and poor food security. IDPs are likely to present acute needs, exceeding the capacities of the current response. Abs district, in the direct path of the offensive, hosts up to 210,000 IDPs in over 160 settlements. Most have already been displaced multiple times and have acute shelter, WASH, food, and health needs. Conflict in Abs is likely to disrupt vital WASH and health services. Medical sources report that 22 people AL HUDAYDAH have died, including 12 children and 10 women. As HAJJAH GOVERNORATE many as 30 people have been reportedly injured, Hajjah City including 14 children. Many of the injured children have been sent to hospitals in Abs district and in Sana’a for treatment and several require possible evacuation to survive.

    Yemen WASH Cluster Assessment Abs District, Hajjah Governorate, Yemen November 2018 Yemen is facing one of the world’s worst Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) crises, as deteriorating WASH infrastructure contributes to a cholera outbreak, and represents one of the underlying causes of malnutrition in the country.1 On behalf of the Yemen WASH Cluster, REACH coordinated a household-level assessment to provide an understanding of WASH needs, gaps, and priorities in 38 districts prioritized for famine and/or cholera interventions that also host a high concentration of Internally Displaced People (IDPs - 8% or more of the total district population).2, 3 Findings are based on data collection conducted from 4 September to 28 November 2018. Following a two-stage random sampling approach, representative samples of host community and IDP populations were collected in randomly-selected locations in Abs district, Hajjah governorate. Interviews were conducted with 111 host community and 102 IDP randomly selected households in the district. Findings are representative at district level with a 95% confidence level and a 10% margin of error.
