These caves represent a potential hazard for the built-up environment due to the occurrence of underground instability that may propagate upward and eventually reach the surface, causing sinkholes. In this work we propose integrated interdisciplinary methods for cavities detection. The methodology was applied at a test area located along a major road near Cutrofiano using geological and electrical-resistivity tomography and microgravity geophysical methods. R. 19/2006, programmino interventi e servizi che, per tipologia e natura delle attività proposte, siano coerenti con quanto previsto dal regolamento regionale del 28/02/2000, n. 1, che ha fissato i criteri e le modalità per il finanziamento regionale dei progetti di lotta alla droga, compresa l’individuazione dei soggetti destinatari dei finanziamenti, in relazione alle aree d’intervento specifiche; · la Regione Puglia al fine di adeguare le previsioni del regolamento regionale n. 1/2000 alla riforma introdotta dalla l.r. 19/2006 ha definito apposite “linee guida” per la programmazione e la gestione degli interventi in materia di lotta alla droga; · le modifiche introdotte dalla legge regionale 19/2006 incidono anche sulle modalità di presentazione dei progetti riservando ai Comuni e alle AUSL il 50% delle risorse complessivamente destinate all’area dipendenze dei Piani di Zona per la realizzazione di servizi ed interventi secondo le previsioni del regolamento regionale 1/2000, ed il restante 50% agli enti ausiliari di cui agli articoli 115 e 116 del D.P.R. -

Annunziata Dellisanti THE TARANTA–DANCE OFTHESACREDSPIDER TARANTISM Tarantism is a widespread historical-religious phenomenon (‘rural’ according to De Martino) in Spain, Campania, Sardinia, Calabria and Puglia. It’s different forms shared an identical curative aim and by around the middle of the 19th century it had already begun to decline. Ever since the Middle Ages it had been thought that the victim of the bite of the tarantula (a large, non- poisonous spider) would be afflicted by an ailment with symptoms similar to those of epilepsy or hysteria. This ‘bite’ was also described as a mental disorder usually appearing at puberty, at the time of the summer solstice, and caused by the repression of physical desire, depression or unrequited love. In order to be freed from this illness, a particular ritual which included dance, music and the use of certain colours was performed. RITUAL DANCING The first written account of music as an antidote to the bite of the tarantula was given by the Jesuit scientist, Athanasius Kircher, who was also the first to notate the music and rhythm in his book Antidotum Tarantulæ in the 16th century. Among the instruments involved and used, the frame drum plays an important role together with the violin, the guitar or chitarra battente, a ten-string guitar used percussively, and the button accordion or organetto. This form of exorcism consisted in a ritual carried out in the home of the sick person and a religious ritual in the Church of San Paolo (Saint Paolo in Galatina (Lecce)) during the celebrations of the Saints Peter and Paul on the 28th June each year. -

The quarantine bacterium Xylella fastidiosa subsp. pauca was introduced in the area from abroad and has been widely threatening olive groves in the area. The successful eradication of quarantine phytopathogens requires a prompt identification of the causative agent at the new site, a restricted infected area, a highly effective local organization for crop uprooting and biological features of the micro-organism that would guarantee its complete elimination. However, at the time of the first record, these criteria were not met. Interdisciplinary studies showed that a zinc-copper-citric acid biocomplex allowed a consistent reduction of field symptoms and pathogen cell concentration within infected olive trees. In this perspective article, it is briefly described the implementation of control strategies in some olive farms of Salento. The protocol includes spray treatment with the biocomplex during spring and summer, regular pruning of the trees and mowing of soil between February and April to reduce the juvenile of the insect vector(s). Thus far, more than 500 ha have begun to follow this eco-friendly strategy within the “infected” and “containment” areas of Salento.
