2012 Football Club Chairman’S Report
MANLY-WARRINGAH RUGBY LEAGUE FOOTBALL CLUB LIMITED ANNUAL REPORT 2012 FOOTBALL CLUB CHAIRMAN’S REPORT Going back to back in the NRL competition has proven too big a task for the defending Premiers each year since 1992, but I can proudly say that in 2012, Geoff Toovey and the boys gave it a red hot go. Despite a host of difficulties, including pre-season disruptions, travelling to the UK for the World Club Challenge, injuries, suspensions and off field distractions, the team, led by Co-Captains Jamie Lyon and Jason King, rallied together magnificently to finish in the Top 4, falling only one game short of another Grand Final appearance after defeat by eventual 2012 Premiers, the Melbourne Storm. Whilst we may not have achieved our ultimate goal of successfully defending our 2011 title, we should not lose sight of just how difficult it is to remain near the top of the NRL competition each year. Accordingly, we should all be extremely proud of what was still a very successful 2012 season for the Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles. In his first year as Head Coach, Geoff Toovey did a fantastic job despite a less than ideal preparation and I am sure he is itching to get into 2013, knowing the experience of his first year under his belt will stand him in good stead for the challenges that lie ahead. With the nucleus of the side being retained long term, particularly our young halves, Keiran Foran and Daly Cherry-Evans, we can all be justifiably confident that a 9th premiership is well within our reach in coming seasons. -

Key objectives of the research included identifying the difference of preferences and needs of residents in the Warriewood area from the face-to-face and online survey. Sample N=446 interviews were completed. Interviewing 446 respondents were recruited online, this was conducted at between the 4th – 24th March 2019. As this is an opt in approach, this sample is only representative of those that contributed to the survey. Data analysis The data within this report was analysed using Q Professional. Private and Public Bus Information
Private and Public Bus Information Transport to and from Campus 2019 Students can travel to and from the School campus on the School's own private buses or on the public/government bus services. The Pittwater House bus system allows us to know who is on our buses at all times. This system offers considerable advantages in the event of an emergency or where we need to communicate with parents quickly. It is a condition of use of the School’s private buses that Pittwater House Student Cards are scanned upon boarding and alighting the bus. Private Bus Services The School runs five buses around areas of the North Shore and the Northern Beaches to assist many of our students who are not conveniently served by commercial or government services. The morning bus service drops students at the Westmoreland Avenue entrance. A teacher on duty escorts students from the Junior Schools to buses in Westmoreland Avenue and the South Creek Road car park each afternoon. Costs The costs per trip (including GST) for 2019 are set at the following rates: Fare Type Cost Booked Fare $4.50 per trip This is a flat rate fare with no discount for siblings. Booked Casual Fare $8.00 per trip This fare applies ONLY where a casual booking has been made using Skoolbag at least 1 working day prior to the journey and you have received a confirmation from the school that this booking has been received and a seat is available. Only three casual bookings can be made at one time. The same days booked every week will be deemed to be a booked fare. -

PRESIDENT’S REPORT: Terry Gatward It has been my privilege to be the President for another year which sees Manly Vale FC continue to be in a good financial situation with another small increase in registration numbers. Our club is one with strong family values and we are really and equally proud of our past, present and future. The small band of enthusiastic volunteers have again freely given of their time to ensure that over one thousand boys, girls, men and ladies can take part in the world game. As another year draws to a close it is great to be able to report on two areas of progress that the club has made with the implementation of our Junior development program “The Hornets” and the sponsorship agreement with “Seaforth Physiotherapy & Sports Injury Centre”. As with all seasons we end with some teams finding great success and others disappointed that they did not have better fortune. Again our thanks go to Malouf Manly Pharmacy who have been our major sponsor for the year. We were the only club in the MWFA association who had PL teams make the semi-finals in both men’s and ladies competitions reflecting our desire to have equal focus across both genders. Our Ladies A team went down in the grand Final and the men’s again exited at the semi-final stage. Success also came in recognition from MWFA with Tyson Masters taking out both the Golden Boot award and the Player of the Year award and in the Ladies Gemma Walmsley was a joint winner of the Rookie of the Year award. -

(Tony Prescott) INTRODUCTION The popular image of the Manly ferry during the present century has very much evolved around the "class" (to use a naval term loosely) of six very similar double-ended screw steamers built for the Port Jackson Co-operative Steamship Co. Ltd. and the Port Jackson and Manly Steamship Co. Ltd. between 1905 and 1922. These six steamers were to be eclipsed in size, speed, accommodation and glamour by the Scottish-built Dee Why and Curl Curl of 1928 (The Log, May 1977) and South Steyne of 1938 (The Log, August 1983, November 1983). However, the smaller boats were to prove more economically practical in the long-term and two of them, both to be described in this article, are still in service while the Scottish boats have been withdrawn. Up to the early years of this century, the Port Jackson company operated a fleet consisting almost entirely of paddle steamers. The reason for the relatively late transition to screw propulsion lay in the necessity of using double-ended ships due to the configuration of Sydney Harbour with its many coves and the difficulties of turning in the Circular Quay terminus. Smaller double-ended ferries had been found to operate quite successfully with screw propulsion, but the Manly service had speed and heavy weather requirements which necessitated fine bows on the ships. -

Second Reading Dr METHERELL (Davidson) [9.0]: I move: That this bill be now read a second time. The eyes of history are upon this House. It is time for a new vision that embraces both environmental protection and opportunities for sustainable development for the future. This is a particularly historic opportunity for this House to complete a task that the first Australian settlers commenced more than 200 years ago when they set aside Sydney's foreshores. Recently, areas such as Kuring-Gai Chase were set aside. We have an opportunity to recognise that dream in the minds of our ancestors and to complete it by linking the Hawkesbury River in the north with Sydney Harbour in the south to form a network of national parks for future generations. I refer to our history because, no matter what our position is in the spectrum of views on environmental protection, all of us acknowledge the magnificent legacy of areas such as the Kuring-Gai Chase National Park and the Royal National Park. They and so many of the other national parks around this State and nation were left to this generation and for future generations by people who had the vision to set aside lands of natural grandeur and lands that protected our endangered flora and fauna. -
