[email protected] f) Website, if any. www.ifaorg.com 1 Summarize the aims and purposes of your organization. .ٛ 4. a) Explain how you carry out these aims 1) To place effort to strengthen the mutual-beneficial cooperation among all segments of the fireworks industry promoting the smooth development in production, trade and use. 2) To devote itself to strengthening international cooperation in order to promote and maintain safety, quality and technology. 3) To encourage and promote safety in all aspects of the fireworks industry, including manufacturing, transportation, storage, packaging, professional displays and the use of fireworks by individuals. - 3 - Application for Consultative Status with the Economic and Social Council 4) To work to harmonize definitions standards, and regulations, government agencies, and other organizations worldwide with respect to issues involving fireworks 5) To provide information and assistance to fireworks associations, government agencies, and other organizations worldwide with respect to issues involving fireworks safety. 6) To promote the protection of intellectual property rights and to encourage all members to observe all laws and regulations relating to trade marks, patents and copyrights. 7) To sponsor international meetings to provide a forum for the discussion of fireworks safety matters, as well as other matters related to the international fireworks industry. 8) To improve its ability of adapting to the continuously changing environment through various support systems. 9) To conduct other sustaining auxiliary activities for realization of objectives above and maintenance of the core benefits of the association. ٛ .ٛ b) Please give examples of recent projects and activities In 2006, Sanshui Port refused to accept fireworks shipment, International Fireworks Association organized a meeting for coordination and more than 200 attendees from Liuyang, Liling, Shangli and Wanzai attended the meeting. In 2nd November 2006, assemble International Fireworks Transportation Conference in Wangfujing Grand Hotel of Beijing; the subject of the conference: How to enhance safety transportation and ensure smooth transportation of fireworks. Officials of Ministry of Communication, Ministry of Commerce, General Administration of Quality Supervision(AQSIQ), Inspection and Quarantine of PRC, American Pyrotechnics Association(APA), American Fireworks Standard Laboratory(AFSL), representatives of international shipping and logistics companies, representatives of municipal government of fireworks majority productive region and fireworks companies ,all together over 80 attendees have appeared the meeting. In January 2007, International Fireworks Association organized a part of principals from world famous logistics Inc for investigation of fireworks productive region, and together with officials of local government, Commodity Inspection Bureau, CIQ disused the fireworks shipment. In 8th September to 13th 2007, International Fireworks Association originated the International Artistic Fireworks Competition, this first session competition hosted by China National Tourism Administration, Hebei Provincial Government and International Fireworks Association, six fireworks displaying groups from Germany, Portugal, Australia, Korea, China mainland and Hong Kong have participated the competition. In 2nd October to 6th 2007, International Fireworks Association together with Liuyang Municipal Bureau of Commerce organized Liuyang Fireworks companies to participated the 59th American Pyrotechnics Association (APA) Annual Convention and Trade Show in Texas Dallas. In 27th October to 29th 2007, the Third Annual Conference of International Firework Association held in Liuyang Grand Sun City Resort. In 27th October to 29th 2007, the Third Annual Conference of International Fireworks Association held in Liuyang, Hunan, China. - 4 - Application for Consultative Status with the Economic and Social Council In December 2007, International Fireworks Association organized training lecture on world fireworks regulations and professional skills for fireworks industry. ٛ ?ٛ 5. a) How do you intend to contribute to the work of ECOSOC and/or its subsidiary bodies ------- A. provide fireworks technology for ECOSOC Fireworks as a special industry and its products belong to dangerous goods and public consumable, as well as the unique technology. ECOSOC can not depart technology support of fireworks industry while you institute relevant regulations. The Expert Committee of International Fireworks Association, who are the experts of fireworks industry or administrative department of fireworks, this kind of group with strong power of technology. Additional, International Fireworks Association set up in China, who act as the leading firework exporting country and owned more than 1,400 years history of fireworks production and as well as profound fireworks technology. IFA can make use of technique resources to support ECOSOC for regulations and discussion on fireworks issues, which contain statistic data, technique parameter or application and experimental data of fireworks, etc. B. provide changeable information and possible influence by fireworks Fireworks products in a changeable situation for market requirement, hereby technology, craftworks and raw materials which used in fireworks production also in variety. Some of which may change its security of goods, and as well as bring great harm for entire industry and society. IFA act as an association which communicates with industry directly can control and understand these varieties timely, and can make out evaluation on bringing possible influence.
