Israel is a small nation. She occupies a mere 33,000 square miles, approximately one third the size of Great Britain. The nation of Israel contains less than six million inhabitants. Yet she is almost never out of the mainstream news. A word search on ‘Israel’ on the BBC site alone (in September 2002) yields over 9,000 ‘hits’, whereas a search for ‘Iraq’, arguably one of the most important nations in the Middle East for Britain, yields less than 7,000. Searches for Israel’s other nearest neighbours yield approximately 3,000 for ‘Egypt’, 6,000 for ‘Iran’, 2,000 for ‘Jordan’, 2,000 for ‘Kuwait’, 2,000 for Libya, 3,000 for ‘Saudi Arabia’, 2,000 for ‘Syria’ and 5,000 for Turkey. It is noteworthy that with the exception of Jordan and Libya, all these nations are more heavily populated than Israel, some of them several-fold. Yet given that the additional word ‘Palestinians’ yields almost 8,000 ‘hits’, Israel and her Palestinian problem individually far outstrip any of her neighbours with respect to western (or at least British) interest. -

Mystery Babylon: Myths & Errors of Interpretation
Mystery Babylon: Myths & Errors of Interpretation By R.A. Coombes Author of: “America, The Babylon: Vols. 1, 2” http://www.americathebabylon.com Publisher of: The Alpha-Omega Report An Online Prophecy News & Studies Magazine http://www.aoreport.com © 2008 by R.A. Coombes Introduction: The subject of “Mystery Babylon” has fascinated many Bible Prophecy students in the past twenty years or so as questions arise as to the identity of Mystery Babylon. There are many different theories proposed as to the identification, all but two are fairly new. This recent upsurge of different theories has provoked many a debate within internet discussion forums whether they be Christian or secular forums. As a scholarly researcher on the subject since 1987, I have developed a vast treasure house of facts, data points if you will, on the subject of Mystery Babylon and all of its facets, not merely the identity issue. What I have noticed in various online discussion forums by posters making assertions on the subject of Mystery Babylon, is that a lot of myths and errors are stated and repeated over and over, again and again, creating tremendous confusion. In an effort to counter this problem, it seemed appropriate to me to present at least some of the factual inaccuracies and set the record straight What follows is an attempt to list some of the more egregious, factual errors on the subject and present the correct those errors for the record. Myth/Error #1. – The name of “Mystery Babylon” Many people refer to the prophetic passages of Revelation chapters 17 and 18 as referring to a “Mystery Babylon” as if “Mystery” was part of the title name. -
The Two Babylons by Alexander Hislop
Modern Babylon (Rev. 17:5) is the Roman Catholic Church Where did the practices and beliefs of Roman Catholicism come from? In this scholarly classic, first published over eighty years ago, Alexander Hislop reveals that many Roman Catholic teachings did not originate with Christ or the Bible, but were adopted from ancient pagan Babylonian religion, and given Christian names. Although difficult reading, this book accurately provides a fascinating historical in-depth examination of the shocking similarities between the practices of ancient Babylonian religion and those of today's Roman Catholic church. See how a religion that was started by Nimrod and his wife spread to various regions, taking on different names, but keeping the same pagan rituals and trappings. These same rituals embody the Catholic church of today. Easter Is Unbiblical
Preface Easter is UnBiblical. I would like to preface the following study by say- ing, I'm absolutely convinced of the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. I'm convinced that He bodily rose from the dead, and was not found in corruption. I affirm, with all conviction and prompting from the Holy Spirit, that we must reverence and uphold the truth of the res- urrection. This study is not about proving or disproving the resurrec- tion—it's about discovering the truth of a holiday that we have been de- ceived into believing is the "actual day" our Lord Jesus rose from the dead. We have been told, and believed for hundreds of years, that "Easter" is a holiday celebrating the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. Is it wrong to celebrate the resurrection, and call it Easter, during this time? Yes. Is it good to celebrate the resurrection? Yes. Old Testament In the Old Testament passages, looking forward to the resurrection, and its teachings are found in Job 19:26; Ps. 16:10, 49:15; Isa. 26:19; Dan. 12:2,13; Hos. 13:14; Ezek. 37:1-10; typified in Isaac Gen. 22:13 with Heb. 11:19; in Jonah 2:10 with Matt. 12:40. The resurrection of Christ is an established fact in the Old Testament which had its fulfillment in the New Testament. New Testament Looking at the resurrection fulfilled in Christ, here are some of the many scriptures: Matt. 22:29-32, 20:19; Mark 9:9, 16:19; Luke 14:14, 24:45,46; John 5:28,29, 11:44, 2:19-22, 20:20; Acts 10:40, 13:33; Rom. -
UNIVERSITY of CALIFORNIA RIVERSIDE a Study of Antichrist
UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA RIVERSIDE A Study of Antichrist Typology in Six Biblical Dramas of 17th Century Spain A Dissertation submitted in partial satisfaction of the requirements for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Spanish by Jason Allen Wells December 2014 Dissertation Committee: Dr. James Parr, Chairperson Dr. David Herzberger Dr. Benjamin Liu Copyright Jason Allen Wells 2014 The Dissertation of Jason Allen Wells is approved: Committee Chairperson University of California, Riverside ABSTRACT OF THE DISSERTATION A Study of Antichrist Typology in Six Biblical Dramas of 17th Century Spain by Jason Allen Wells Doctor of Philosophy, Graduate Program in Spanish University of California, Riverside, December 2014 Dr. James Parr, Chairperson This dissertation examines Antichrist types manifested in the primary antagonists of six biblical dramas of seventeenth century Spanish theater. After researching the topic of biblical typology in the works of theologians Sir Robert Anderson, G.H. Pember, Arthur W. Pink, and Peter S. Ruckman, who propose various personages of both the Old and New Testaments that adumbrate the Antichrist, I devise a reduced list based on extant plays of the Spanish Golden Age whose main characters match the scriptural counterparts of my register. These characters are Cain, Absalom, Haman, Herod the Great, Judas Iscariot, and the Antichrist himself. I consult the Bible to provide the reader with pertinent background information about these foreshadowings of the Son of Perdition and then I compare and contrast these characteristics with those provided by the playwrights in their respective works. By making these comparisons and contrasts the reader is able to observe the poets’ embellishments of the source material, artistic contributions that in many instances probably satisfy the reader’s desire for details not found in the biblical iv narratives. -
F.F. Bruce, "Babylon and Rome," the Evangelical Quarterly 13
F.F. Bruce, “Babylon and Rome,” The Evangelical Quarterly 13 (October 15th, 1941): 241-261. Babylon and Rome F.F. Bruce [p.241] I It cannot seriously be denied that most of the features of advanced Catholic1 ritual have little or no direct warrant in the New Testament. It is frequently urged in support of such ritual that it can be traced in unbroken sequence back to the fourth century. “No sooner did the primitive Church emerge from the centuries of persecution, and acquire freedom from external repression, than it gave full and wonderful expression to its devotional spirit in elaborate and beautiful Symbolic ways.”2 Antiquity, however, is no guarantee of apostolic authority, especially as there is a gap of nearly three centuries between apostolic days and the introduction of the greater part of these ritual practices into the Church. Indeed, far from our being able to find Scriptural authority for these practices, all the available evidence on their provenance goes to show that they were taken over into the Church from the various Mystery cults which were so popular throughout the Roman Empire in the early centuries o£ our era. The appeal to the Fathers cannot take the place of an appeal to the Apostles. “The most honoured of the Fathers were men whose minds were impregnated by the superstitions of Pagan religion, or the subtleties of Pagan philosophy.... They were ‘near the fountain’ of Christianity, forsooth; yes, but they were nearer still to the cesspool of Paganism. And inquiry will show that it is to the cesspool that we should attribute every perversion of the truth which to-day defaces what is called the Christian religion.”3 The proof of the descent of Catholic ritual from the Mysteries is not the object of this paper; for such proof, the reader may consult such works as R. -
Revelation 2 Part 1
Revelation 2 Part 1 Table Revelation 2:1-11 Unto the angel of the church of Ephesus write; These things saith he that holdeth 1 the seven stars in his right hand, who walketh in the midst of the seven golden can- dlesticks; I know thy works, and thy labour, and thy patience, and how thou canst not bear 2 them which are evil: and thou hast tried them which say they are apostles, and are not, and hast found them liars: And hast borne, and hast patience, and for my name’s sake hast laboured, and hast 3 not fainted. 4 Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love. Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first 5 works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent. 6 But this thou hast, that thou hatest the deeds of the Nicolaitans, which I also hate. He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him 7 that overcometh will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God. And unto the angel of the church in Smyrna write; These things saith the first and 8 the last, which was dead, and is alive; I know thy works, and tribulation, and poverty, (but thou art rich) and I know the 9 blasphemy of them which say they are Jews, and are not, but are the synagogue of Satan. -
THE TWO BABYLONS: a Case Study in Poor Methodology
CHRISTIAN RESEARCH INSTITUTE P.O. Box 8500, Charlotte, NC 28271 Article: DC187 BOOK REVIEW THE TWO BABYLONS: A Case Study in Poor Methodology a review of The Two Babylons, or The Papal Worship by Alexander Hislop (Lorizeaux Brothers, 1990) This article first appeared in the volume 22, number 2 (2000) issue of the Christian Research Journal. For further information or to subscribe to the Christian Research Journal go to: http://www.equip.org In my earlier Christian experience, certain literature fell into my hands that claimed a considerable amount of Babylonian paganism had been mixed into Christianity. While the Roman Catholic Church was the primary target of this criticism, it seemed the customs and beliefs with which pagan parallels could be found had also contaminated other churches. Much of what I encountered was based on a book called The Two Babylons by Alexander Hislop (1807–1862). Over the years The Two Babylons has impacted the thinking of many people, ranging all the way from those in radical cults (e.g., the Jehovah’s Witnesses) to very dedicated Christians who hunger for a move by God but are concerned about anything that might quench His Spirit. Its basic premise is that the pagan religion of ancient Babylon has continued to our day disguised as the Roman Catholic Church, prophesied in the Book of Revelation as “Mystery Babylon the Great” (thus, the idea of two Babylons — one ancient and one modern). Because this book is detailed and has a multitude of notes and references, I assumed, as did many others, it was factual. -

The Ultimate Enigma
THE ULTIMATE ENIGMA by Avram Yehoshua The Seed of Abraham One day the Sadducees confronted the Lord Yeshua (the Hebrew name for Jesus) with what they must have thought was surely the ultimate enigma. The Sadducees only believed in the first five books of Moses (i.e. Genesis through Deuteronomy), and so, not finding any passages about a resurrection they didn’t believe in it.1 They didn’t believe anything after Deuteronomy was authoritative and inspired by God, and so even though there are passages in the Prophets and the Psalms, etc., that clearly speak of a resurrection from the dead,2 these didn’t affect their belief. The Sadducees knew that Yeshua taught of the resurrection,3 and so their ‘question’ to Yeshua was de- signed to entrap Him and show the Jewish people that He really wasn’t the Messiah of Israel. They spoke of a woman who had seven husbands and outlived them all. She hadn’t had any children by any of them, and so none of them had any greater claim to being her husband ‘in the resurrection’ than any other, ex- cept for possibly the first being the first. They must have tauntingly asked Yeshua, ‘Whose wife will she be in the resurrection?!’ His answer both shocked and amazed them, and everyone else in the Temple that day: “Yeshua said to them, ‘You are mistaken, not knowing the Scriptures nor the power of God. For in the resurrection they neither marry nor are given in marriage, but are like the angels of God in Heaven.
