See the list. An eight-part drama series based on the award-winning novel The Slap (TV Tie-in) Christos Tsiolkas. The Slap tells the story of a group of people enjoying a backyard barbecue together, who are torn apart when one man slaps the child of another guest. The boy's parents are so upset by the assault that they call the police and bring legal action against the man, forcing family and friends to take sides. Each one-hour episode tells the story from the perspective of one of the main characters. I have never read the book, so I watching not knowing what to expect. I thought the acting was great. I'd seen a few of the actors in films over the years George, Okonedo and LaPagliabut it was the ones I had never seen before that drew me in namely, Essie Davis, Lowe and Blake Davis. The thing I liked most about this drama is that it is never 'in your face', like the racism for example, The Slap (TV Tie-in) make a few racist 'views' rather then full on racist words, so it's all very under lining which often happens in real life. An abortion takes place, but the actual abortion is not the point and whether it is right or wrong, it just give you an insight into the character and what she is about. Family and friends gather at Hector's house for a BBQ to celebrate his 40th birthday. But during the festivities a guest slaps a child who is not his own. SYNOPSIS Based on a true story: DANGER CLOSE begins with Major Harry Smith [Travis Fimmel], the strict and highly motivated commander of Delta Company, 6th Battalion, Royal Australian Regiment, on operation in Nui Dat, Phuoc Tuy Province, Vietnam. Delta Company is made up four platoons; 10, 11 and 12 platoons and a Company HQ, a total of 108 men. Harry is a career officer and he has no time to ‘coddle’ or befriend the men in his company. He feels that ‘babysitting’ these young men - half of which are conscripts - is beneath his special forces skills and previous combat experience.
