While Dr. Linda has been very prolific in the academic publishing arena she signed to Hodder, for her first non-academic publication in 2003. The book is about self-esteem and body image. It’s entitled “Mirror Mirror” and was released end of June 2004 to rave reviews and features in all the press TV, Magazines and broadsheets. Originally known by the public for her regular appearances and insightful commentary on the smash hit television phenomenon "Big Brother" Dr Linda also enjoyed a 4 month stint as resident Psychologist on "The Big Breakfast" for Channel 4 and soon after joined Cosmopolitan Magazine as Contributing Editor with a regular monthly column “I’m Listening” and Celebrity feature articles interviewing amongst others such celebrities as Daniella Westbrook, Alex Best. Dr Linda’s time at Cosmo has been hugely successful and her column has now been revamped and she is also writing 8 features a year.

MG-EPILOGUE.qxd 19/04/2004 07:32 Page 1 EPILOGUE “There was a lot of heresy about” My attempt at telling the story of British breakfast television initially took the shape of a series of monthly articles published on www.offthetelly.co.uk in late 2000 and early 2001. Titled Morning Glory, the text spanned the period from the launch of Breakfast Time in January 1983 to The Big Breakfast’s fateful makeover in January 2001, ending with some idle speculation on just how much longer Channel 4 could feasibly carry on funding such a relentlessly calamitous early morning programme. Typically, within a few weeks of the final article appearing on-line, C4 confirmed it was wielding the axe and the search was on for The Big Breakfast’s replacement. There seemed no reason not to continue hoarding useful bits of breakfast telly news, gossip and quotes, especially as the possibility of pitching an expanded version of the original articles to assorted publishers had gained in appeal. One of the things that the on-line version of Morning Glory did not possess was primary source material; a longer, more comprehensive take on the history of breakfast television would necessarily require the assembly and presentation of just such a valuable commodity. There were already various events and revelations that research had turned up too late to go into the Off The Telly articles. Then there was the prospect of a looming anniversary: 2003 would be the 20th birthday of breakfast TV, and a neat hook on which to hang the premise of a full-length book.

LOST FOR WORDS (October) Channel 4 presents a season of films addressing the unacceptable illiteracy rates among children in the UK. At the heart of the season is a series following one dynamic headmistress on a mission to wipe out illiteracy in her primary school. A special edition of Dispatches (Why Our Children Can’t Read) will focus on the effectiveness of the various methods currently employed to teach children to read, as well as exploring the wider societal impact of poor literacy rates. Daytime hosts Richard and Judy will aim to get children reading with an hour-long peak time special, Richard & Judy’s Best Kids’ Books Ever. BRITAIN’S DEADLIEST ADDICTIONS (October) Britain’s Deadliest Addictions follows three addicts round the clock as they try to kick their habits at a leading detox clinic. Presented by Krishnan Guru-Murphy and addiction psychologist, Dr John Marsden, the series will highlight the realities of addiction to a variety of drugs, as well as alcohol, with treatment under the supervision of addiction experts.
