His own philosophy was Neo- Platonic mysticism con- structed on Aristotelian base, which Avicenna attempted to reconcile with the main doctrines of Islam. Avicenna described anthrax, dementia, epilepsy, headache, and pleurisy. He recognized the contagiousness of tuberculosis, and advised freshening of ununited fractures.
