Tuxedo Rental:

If you wish to rent a Tuxedo for the Closing Banquet, the Tuxedo Junction, at 1231 East 3300 South, offers a great service. Rental prices depend on style and accessories. Tuxedo’s will be delivered to the Hotel on Wednesday May 21st and picked up Friday, May 23rd. Please make sure you follow the directions on the attached form for proper fit and style. Salt Lake City Downtown Walking Tour

Salt Lake has a compact downtown area with wide, easy-to-maneuver streets. Within a few blocks of - the city's best known attraction—there are several major Mormon historical sites and pioneer era buildings, as well as urban parks, shopping malls, cultural venues and even a planetarium.

The Visitor Information Center 90 S. West Temple 521-2822 (800-541-4955). The ideal place to begin a visit to the Salt Lake area. Information specialists assist with lodging, sightseeing, current events, parking and transportation. Hours: Mon-Fri 8-5 (open until 6 pm Memorial Day to Labor Day), Sat & Sun 9-5. A Visitor Center is also located at the Salt Lake International Airport.

Salt Lake To Go 90 S. West Temple 534-4906. Take home a Salt Lake memory. Located within the Visitor Information Center, this is the perfect place to buy a Salt Lake souvenir or gift.

Salt Lake Art Center 20 S. West Temple 328-4201. Changing contemporary visual art exhibits. Articles artists' mercantile. Art Center School photography/ceramics classes. Gallery hours are 11 am to 6 pm Tuesday through Saturday, and the Center stays open later every Friday evening until 9 pm.

Abravanel Hall 123 W. South Temple Administration 323-6800 / Ticket Office 355-2787. Home of the Utah Symphony Orchestra and host to many other concerts. Musical experts have acclaimed it as having the finest acoustics of any modern concert hall in the world.

Family History Library 35 N. West Temple 240-2331. This library contains one of the largest repositories

5 of genealogical records in the world. Open to the public. Call for hours. Free admission. Library orientation is available.

Museum of Church History & Art 45 N. West Temple 240-3593. Art and history exhibits about the Mormon experience in the 19th and 20th centuries. Open Mon-Fri 9 am-9 pm, Sat-Sun and most holidays from 10 am-7 pm. Free admission.

Historic Temple Square 50 W. North Temple 240-2534. The centerpiece of this beautifully landscaped 10-acre plot of ground in the heart of downtown Salt Lake is the six-spired . Also located on the Square is the domed Tabernacle, home of the world-famous Mormon Tabernacle Choir; the Assembly Hall where free concerts are given most weekends; two visitor centers and more. Free tours are given daily in 30 languages. Tours start every few minutes at the flagpole. The public is invited to the Tabernacle Choir rehearsals on Thursdays at 8 pm (come and go as you like), and to the Sunday morning network broadcast at 9:30 am (you must be seated by 9:15 am). Daily organ recitals are given Mon-Sat at noon and 2 pm (noon only in the winter), and Sundays at 2 pm. All concerts and recitals are free. The LDS 50 E. North Temple 240-2190. The world-wide headquarters of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has two observation decks with views of the mountains and valley. They are open to the public on the 26th floor. Free tours Mon-Sat 9 am-4:30 pm. Closed Saturdays between Labor Day and Memorial Day. Also, free guided tours of the beautiful gardens on the building plaza are available on a seasonal basis. Phone 240-5916 for a Garden Tour schedule.

Brigham Young Historic Park Located across State Street from the Church Office Building plaza. Free one- hour "Concerts in the Park" are presented Tuesday & Friday evenings during June, July and August.

The Monument Just north of the intersection of Main Street & South Temple. This monument honors LDS Church leader and pioneer-colonizer, Brigham Young, and pays tribute to the Utah Indians and fur trappers who preceded Mormon settlers into the Salt Lake Valley.

6 Joseph Smith Memorial Building South Temple & Main Street 240-1266. Formerly the Hotel Utah, the building is listed on the National Registry of Historic Buildings. Free tours are available Mon- Sat. A large screen theatre within the building features, a film portraying pioneer faith and courage. Admittance is free, but tickets are required. For show times and ticket information, please phone 240-4383. At the FamilySearch® Center a trained staff and 200 computers introduce visitors to the excitement of discovering their ancestors. Free. Open Mon-Sat. For more information, call 240- 4085. Two restaurants, The Garden and The Roof, are located on the tenth floor with lovely views overlooking Temple Square. Call 539-1911.

The Lion House 63 E. South Temple 363-5466. Constructed in 1855 as a residence for Brigham Young and his family. No tours, but The Pantry Restaurant on the lower level is open to the public.

The 67 E. South Temple 240-2671. A National Historic Landmark. Served as the official residence of Brigham Young when he was President of the LDS Church and Governor of the . Free tours daily.

Eagle Gate State Street & South Temple. Erected in 1859 at the entrance to Brigham Young's property which led to the mouth of City Creek Canyon. Replaced several times over the years, the present 4,000-pound. eagle with a wingspread of 20 feet caps the 76-foot span of .

Clark Planetarium 110 S 400 W, 801.456.STAR (7827). Daily star shows, music entertainment shows, and Utah's only 3D IMAX theatre. Two floors of free, interactive exhibits, and a unique science store.

Social Hall Heritage Museum 39 S. State Street 321-8745. Remnants of first public building in Utah and first theatre west of the Missouri. A glass enclosure displays the walls of the original building, along with artifacts. Historical tours available.

Gallivan Utah Center Plaza 36 East 200 South 532-0459. Unique art projects, daily entertainment, pond, outdoor chess board, aviary and winter ice rink. Open 7 am-10 pm year-round.

7 Capitol Theatre 50 West 200 South 323-6800 / Ticket Office 355-2787. Built in 1912 to host touring vaudeville shows, the theatre is home to Ballet West, Utah Opera Company, Ririe-Woodbury Dance Company, Repertory Dance Theatre, and hosts many other touring performers and shows.

The Cathedral of the Madeleine Led by The Right Reverend Lawrence Scanlan, Salt Lake City's first bishop, construction on the cathedral on South Temple began in 1899 and was completed in 1909. Architects Carl Neuhausen and Bernard Mecklenburg combined a predominantly Romanesque exterior with a Gothic interior on the structure. The Cathedral is the Mother Church for Roman Catholics throughout the State of Utah. The cathedral is listed on both the Utah and national registers of historic places. 331 E. South Temple 328-8941.
