PRESS KIT May 13, 2013 THE NEW RENAULT KANGOO LINE-UP NOW EVEN MORE PURPOSEFUL Renault, the European market’s number one LCV manufacturer, has renewed its Kangoo range for private motorists and business users. The model’s new front end features Renault’s new styling identity, although a certain number of detail differences distinguish between the passenger car, van and Z.E. versions. New Kangoo’s robust stance mirrors the work that has been accomplished in the realm of perceived quality, while technology upgrades include the availability of the connected Renault R-Link multimedia system. Business customers can now benefit from three front seats for each one of the different length options, and Kangoo Compact is the only van with a capacity of less than 2.8m3 to be available with this arrangement. Two new leisure activity vehicle versions have also been introduced, namely Kangoo Extrem, which sports an adventurer look, and Kangoo Business which is ideally suited to intensive fleet use. In addition to the all-electric Z.E. version which emits no emissions during road use, the Renault Kangoo range features a comprehensive selection of energy-efficient engines, including three which top their class in terms of low fuel consumption, starting from 4.3 litres/100km. Order books have been open in France since February, and New Kangoo is due to appear in showrooms across Europe from June 2013. ASSERTIVE, CONFIDENT STYLING TECHNOLOGY TO PROMOTE ECO-DRIVING A WIDE RANGE, FOR ALL PURPOSES RAISING THE QUALITY LEVEL THE MOST ECONOMICAL CAR IN ITS CLASS: JUST 4.3 LITRES/100KM 2 ASSERTIVE, CONFIDENT STYLING New Kangoo’s design has come of age. Taut lines and clear forms bestow it with a robust, reassuring look, while the front end incorporates Renault’s new design identity, with a bold logo contrasted against a black grille, along with more expressive, more tapered head lights. The leisure activity, van and Z.E. versions of the model are now more clearly differentiated in terms of their style. Meanwhile, to respond more closely still to customer demand, the leisure activity vehicle line-up has been joined by two new versions: Kangoo Extrem, a leisure activity vehicle with adventurer styling, and Kangoo Business, designed for intensive use by fleets. A new face and modern appointments New Kangoo is more powerful and more confident in its design, with taut, muscular lines instead of the former rounded wings, while the front end adopts Renault’s new styling identity. The Renault logo is more prominent and 3 contrasts with the black grille behind it. The new almond-shaped, eyelid-capped head lights produce a more high-tech, higher quality feel. The front bumper, bonnet and front wings have been reshaped to provide a more robust and reassuring impression. The large, rounded bumper projects forward of the bonnet for a rugged look, and the slots for the Renault logo helps to lighten the design of the front. Distinctive cues for the leisure activity, the van and the electric versions Styling differences between the van, leisure activity and Z.E. versions are much more pronounced than on the outgoing generation. The leisure activity vehicle version features twin chrome strips either side of the central Renault logo, which is also finished in chrome and contrasts with the gloss black finish. The air intake has a rounded bottom edge and is set into a body-coloured bumper (depending on version), while black headlamp masks underline the fact that is a vehicle for private motorists. The rear light extensions are red on this version. The van version is equipped with a black textured front bumper that is more resistant to the small scrapes that are part and parcel of the high- intensity use for which this vehicle was designed. The rear light extensions are also black. The chrome logo stands out against the grained black finish. For a more dynamic look, a Style Pack comprising the following features is available: Dark Metal bib, Black head light masks, Body-colour sliding side door rail cover, Body-colour rear bumper extensions Fog lights. 4 New Kangoo Z.E.’s electric vehicle credentials are signalled by the blue finish applied to the Renault logo, to the two chrome strips either side of it and to the rear light extensions. The inside of the rear light clusters is also finished in blue-tinted chrome. This model combines the front bumper of the van version and the black headlamp masks of the leisure activity version and, taking a leaf from the ZOE’s book, its battery charging socket is now located behind the logo on the front grille. This is where the driver can connect the cable, supplied as standard with the vehicle, enabling recharging at home from a Wall Box in between six and nine hours or at a roadside charging station. Renault Kangoo, a vehicle with a devoted following The loyalty of Kangoo customers has traditionally been strong. Loyalty to the van version continued to rise between 2007 and 2011 to reach 66 percent. More than half of all Kangoo buyers do not even consider another model during the purchase process. Kangoo’s image, as well as customer experience with the vehicle and with the Renault network are cited as the chief reasons for purchase. Source : Annual market research realized by an external institut The electric version is no different. Some 95 percent of Kangoo Z.E. customers declare themselves to be very satisfied with their vehicle. Here are some quotes from Kangoo Z.E. drivers: “It conveys a very different image for my company. It shows a certain interest – that’s to say a company that is keen to go in the right direction when it comes to the environment.” “It’s a highly satisfying vehicle to own. I was surprised to find that the batteries encroached so little: it’s a real Kangoo.” Source : Market research realized by Maxiphone institut in 2012 5 Modern interior styling Changes to the latest version extend to the interior, as well. The passenger compartment is equipped with a new, more modern centre console which forms a gloss black ‘totem’ similar to the design chosen for New Clio. Captur and ZOE. This console houses the air conditioning and radio controls. The connected Renault R-Link multimedia system is now listed in the catalogue and allows all multimedia functions (navigation, radio, Bluetooth® telephony, connectivity for portable devices, etc.) to be controlled using the large touch screen display. The design of the instrument cluster is different for each version. On the van and leisure activity versions, the three instrument bezels are black with a white surround, while the specific instruments of the Z.E. version include an econometer, a battery-charge indicator and the speedometer, all of which are blue- hued. 6 Kangoo Extrem goes off the beaten track A new leisure activity variant of Kangoo is an ‘adventurer’ version labelled Extrem, equipped with SUV- style features such as roof rails, side protective mouldings and a rear bumper with a black grained finish. The front bib and door mirror housings are picked out in Dark Metal. Kangoo Extrem also has modern, coloured side graphics, a gloss black finish around the head lights, extra-tinted rear glass and 15-inch Dark Metal aluminium alloy wheels. ‘Extrem’ badging is visible on the flanks and tailgate. Kangoo Business, a leisure activity vehicle for fleet use In its Kangoo Business form, the MPV version features the grain-finished black protective elements of the van version designed to cope with a tough working life. These elements are the wraparound front bumper which reaches up to the grille and to the top of the wheel arches, the rear bumper which extends upwards to the rear lights, protective mouldings for the top of the back swing doors, the side protective mouldings, the exterior door handles and the door mirror housings. Inside, features geared towards intensive use include Titane black upholstery that shows less dirt and a black plastic trim for the armrest of the central stowage console, while the door panels are made of a particularly resistant material to cope with intensive use. 7 A WIDE RANGE, FOR ALL PURPOSES Since its launch in 1997 the Kangoo family has been expanding step by step to meet the needs of private motorists and exacting business customers alike ever more closely. With the arrival of the very latest versions with three seats at the front, the full range has been expanded to boast no fewer than 15 versions. The Kangoo range’s versatility has been further enhanced by such innovative functions as a flat floor and sliding rear roof flap which make life even easier for users.
