15 / Alumni Connection Summer 2010 In recognition: development Honors and memorials Planning for the future

Paying tribute to our alumni, family and friends with prayer and generosity. June 1, 2010-December 31, 2010. Thanks for your support IN HONOR OF: Dear Alumni and Friends, Thomas and Margaret Antonino Memorial Scholarship When I attended St. Vincent–St. Mary High School back in the Bader Family Scholarship Florence A. Bernard Memorial Scholarship late 70’s, I remember seeing so many alumni here at the school. Paul and Marianne Bertsch Family Scholarship Student events, football games, basketball games, plays, musicals, Breiding Family Scholarship and many family oriented fundraisers. Now as I return as the Burr Brown Memorial Scholarship Chief Operating Officer of St. Vincent–St. Mary High School Christine Clark Memorial Scholarship thirty-four years later, I see that the same tradition that we were Msgr. Conry Scholarship very fortunate to be part of in the 70’s, is still strong. However the alumni participation Bill Costigan seems to be declining and I ask myself every day, what can we do to get our wonderful Leo N. “Mox” Engler Memorial Scholarship alumni involved again? Jack Fitzpatrick V44 Scholarship St. Vincent–St. Mary High School has an impressive track record of grooming young Fongheiser Family Memorial Scholarship boys and girls into confident, well-educated, and successful men and women. Many of us Frattura-Waltz Family Scholarship would not be where we are today if it were not for the alumni who were a constant and Graf Family Scholarship Thomas Gulka Memorial Scholarship active part of our high school experience. It is heartwarming to see that many of the same Hanlon Family Scholarship alumni that provided us the means for success back in the 70’s, continue to be the same James and Elizabeth Hart Memorial Scholarship alumni providing the support needed today. Henkel Family Scholarship There are many ways to provide support; financial support being the first and Newt Henry Memorial Scholarship foremost area — something that all private schools will need for years to come. In Matt Kauffman Memorial addition, there are many areas and facets to STVM that would gladly welcome your Jim Kelly Memorial Scholarship time and talents — various academic and extracurricular organizations, parent groups, Lynch Family Scholarship alumni groups — the list is endless. Ed Lynch Memorial Scholarship If you have been blessed with a rewarding career, and you have the means to support Dr. Frank Mellion Memorial Scholarship our school financially, then please help as much as you can. The true cost of education Metzger Family Scholarship is approximately 16% higher than the actual tuition charged. Today’s economy has left Leo B. Mills Family Scholarship St. Vincent Class of 1964 many of our families struggling to make tuition payments, and some may be faced St. Vincent-St. Mary Class of 2010 with having to withdraw a son or daughter from STVM. If you can help keep a student Patrick Sansonetti Memorial Scholarship enrolled at STVM, you will make a positive and lasting impact on their life. Lynda Utrup Schafer Memorial Scholarship If you would like additional information, as to how you can help these families, Sandy Singleton Smith Memorial please call me at the school, and I will be happy to explain our Irish Academic Partner Robert C. Staudt Memorial Scholarship (IAP) program with you. Anne Marie Stephenson Special Education Scholarship Also, if you haven’t been to the school in recent years, please call us to schedule a Joseph F. Trecaso Memorial Scholarship tour. We would love to show you what’s new at STVM. Ray Tricomi Memorial Scholarship Leo Walter God Bless, All 2010 Fr. STVM’s Rocket Team Charlie whose members include Greg Sprungle, Emily Tomon, PJ Morley, Kate Donahue, and Devin Sutter qualified for the Team America Rocket Challenge National Finals at Great Meadow in The Plains, Virginia on May 15, 2010. All of STVM’s rocket teams worked very hard since last September designing, building and flying rockets in an effort to reach the national finals competition. Two other teams, Team Bravo and Team Echo came very close to qualifying and missed being entered into the finals by a slim margin.
