Streak Loss 1 Last 10 5-5 It Ain’t Over Til It’s Over: Jackson has come from behind in six of its seven wins this season, vs. Pensacola 0-1 including each of the team’s three wins at Montgomery earlier this week...On April 27, Jackson posted its first win vs. Pensacola at Home/on Road 0-1/0-0 when trailing after the eighth inning after rallying from a 4-3 hole to take a 5-4 victory...The Generals also came back from deficits on April 16 versus Mississippi (down 4-2, won 5-4), April 20 versus Tennessee (down 1-0, won Southern League Standings 7-1), April 21 versus Tennessee (down 3-1, won 5-3), April 28 at Montgomery (down 1-0, won 7-6) and April 29 at Montgomery (down 3-0, won 4-3)..Jackson’s lone victory in which it did not have to come from behind was on North Division W-L Pct. GB L10 Streak Opening Night (April 9) at Jacksonville when the Generals broke a scoreless tie in the ninth to grab a 2-0 victory. Tennessee Smokies (CHC) 11-8 .579 -- 5-5 L2 Birmingham Barons (CHW) 10-10 .500 1.5 6-4 W2 All I Do Is Hit: Generals outfielder Dario Pizzano has a team-best 12-game hitting streak and has hit Montgomery Biscuits (TB) 10-11 .476 2.0 5-5 W1 safely in 14 of 15 appearances this season. On April 13, he was 0-for-2 and due to lead off the eighth inning at Chattanooga Lookouts (MIN) 9-11 .450 2.5 3-7 L1 Jacksonville when Jackson’s game was called a 0-0 seven-inning tie. During this hitting streak, Pizzano is batting Jackson Generals (SEA) 7-11 .389 3.5 5-5 L1 .408 (20-for-49) with one double, one triple, one home run and five runs batted in. He is second in the Southern South Division W-L Pct. GB L10 Streak League to Biloxi’s Orlando Arcia in overall hitting (.409 to .393) and has the league’s second-longest hitting streak behind 13-game stretches for Mississippi’s Matt Lipka (active) and Daniel Castro. Biloxi Shuckers (MIL) 14-7 .667 -- 8-2 L1 Mobile BayBears (ARI) 13-7 .650 0.5 7-3 W6 In Need of a Fresh Start: A natural product of Jackson’s numerous come-from-behind wins is the Jacksonville Suns (MIA) 10-10 .500 3.5 5-5 W1 lack of victories by Generals starting pitchers. Jackson is currently the only team in affiliated baseball (MLB and Mississippi Braves (ATL) 9-10 .474 4.0 4-6 L6 MiLB) that does not have a win from any of its starters. Eight different Generals have started at least once this Pensacola Blue Wahoos (CIN) 6-14 .300 7.5 3-7 W1 season, combining to go 0-8 while pitching 19 fewer innings than Jackson relievers. In today’s game, southpaw Danny Hultzen will become Jackson’s ninth different starting pitcher this season and its third in as many days Southern League Scoreboard (Jake Zokan on Wednesday at Montgomery, James Gillheeney on Thursday against Pensacola). Thursday, April 30th Friday, May 1st Jacksonville 6, Chattanooga 4 JAX at CHA, 7:15 pm ET Officially on the Clock: Double-A and Triple-A umpires will need to be ready to enforce the new Mobile 3, Biloxi 1 (in Huntsville) MTG at MIS, 7:00 pm CT pace-of-play initiatives after April’s grace period. Pitchers are on 20-second timers to either begin the wind-up Montgomery 10, Mississippi 6 PNS at JXN, 7:05 pm CT or begin to come set, batters are encouraged to stay in the batter’s box between pitches, and breaks between Pensacola 3, Jackson 1 TNS at BIR, 7:05 pm CT innings and pitching changes will last two minutes and 25 seconds. After a grace period through April that only Tennessee 3, Birmingham 5 MOB at BLX (in HVL), 7:10 pm CT featured warnings, pace-of-play violations will now be enforced for the rest of the season. Automatic balls and automated strikes will be charged for as dictated for violations of these points of emphasis. LOUIS -- The Reds have every reason to take a moment and savor the flavor of a rare series win at Busch Stadium. Sunday's 8- 0 victory over the Cardinals not only gave Cincinnati two of three games, but also just its fourth series win out of the last 29 at St. Louis since 2006. It was July 27-29, 2015, when the Reds last came to town and took a series from the Cardinals. Sunday's win was powered by Adam Duvall's 3-for-4, two-RBI game while starting pitcher Scott Feldman cruised with six-plus scoreless innings, allowing four hits with one walk and collecting six strikeouts for his first win with the Reds. More > "It's not facing demons and ghosts of series in years past. Our team is better than it's been in the last few years, with a lot of new guys that just want to come in and play baseball, play hard and play well," Reds manager Bryan Price said. "We pitched two shutouts here. Not only is that unlikely, but to come in here and be able to do and extract two wins is a big deal for us in the early start of a season." A’s News Clips, Monday, November 7, 2011 Seattle prospects lead West to Rising Stars win Royals farmhands also contribute in AFL showcase By Jesse Sanchez / MLB.com SURPRISE, Ariz. -- The game could not been more appropriately named. It definitely lived up to its billing. Several of the top prospects in the game shone bright Saturday as the West Division powered past the East Division, 11-2, in the sixth annual Arizona Fall League Rising Stars Game at Surprise Stadium. It was a night of hits, misses, strikes and surprises. And stars, of course. The highly anticipated showdown on the mound between the East's Gerrit Cole (Pittsburgh), the first overall pick in the 2011 First-Year Player Draft, and the West's Danny Hultzen (Seattle), the second overall pick in the 2011 First-Year Player Draft, was overshadowed by the West's offensive onslaught, led by Seattle shortstop prospect Nick Franklin. Franklin, selected in the first round in 2009 by Seattle, finished 4-for-5 with a home run on a memorable night in Arizona. Franklin's four hits, two doubles, four RBIs and three extra-base hits all set new Rising Stars Game records. His team finished with 16 hits in the game. "It was really fun," Franklin said. "We had some fans and were enjoying the experience beforehand. We went out there to have a good time and started to put some runs on the board. We started having some fun in the dugout, and it carried over." Hultzen did his part, and there's no doubt that the front office in Seattle is feeling content right about now.
