Miami is 0-1-1 against Wash- ington this spring, with two more meetings after today. Today’s game can be heard in English on MLB.com. TODAY’S PITCHING LINEUP RHP Scott Copeland TODAY’S STARTING PITCHER: Right-hander Scott Copeland will make his second start (fourth appearance) for Miami. LHP Hunter Cervenka Copeland picked up his second win of the spring in his last outing, a start on March 11 against Houston at The Ballpark RHP Brian Ellington of the Palm Beaches; he tossed 3.0 perfect innings, with two strikeouts. RHP Drew Steckenrider RHP Tayron Guerrero LOOKING AHEAD: The Marlins will hit the road tomorrow for a visit to Lakeland to take on the Detroit Tigers at Joker Marchant Stadium. Tomorrow marks the second of four meetings between the two clubs, with a set of back-to-back games on March 31 and April 1 in Jupiter to close out the Grapefruit League slate. RHP Dan Straily is scheduled to make his second start (third ap- pearance). WEDNESDAY’S GAME: Miami’s offense got rolling early, and held on for a 6-2 victory over the New York Mets at Roger Dean Stadium. J.T. Realmuto got the Marlins on the board with a sac fly in the first. Matt den Dekker added another sac fly to plate a run in the second, and drove in two more in the fourth on a double. Justin Nicolino got the start and tossed 3.0 scoreless innings to earn his first win of the spring.Stephen Fife pitched 3.0 scoreless innings in relief, and Drew Peters, who allowed two runs over 3.0 innings, picked up the save. TRANSACTIONS: Prior to today’s game, the Marlins announced the following transactions: INFs JT Riddle and Yefri Pérez optioned to Triple-A New Or- leans; C Austin Nola and LHP Drew Peters optioned to Double-A Jacksonville; LHP Kyle Lobstein reassigned to Minor League Camp. CURRENT ROSTER: Miami has 50 players in Major League camp, including 36 members of the 40-man roster and 14 non-roster invitees. The roster consists of 26 pitchers (5 NRIs); 18 right-handers (three NRIs) and eight left-handers (one NRI). There are five catchers (two NRIs), 10 infielders (four NRIs) and nine outfielders (four NRIs). FISH ROCKING THE WBC: The Miami Marlins are making their mark on the World Baseball Classic this spring. Martín Prado, playing for Venezuela, be- came the first player in WBC history to have a five-hit game in Saturday’s 11-10, 10-inning victory over Italy in Jalisco. Among Prado’s five hits (two doubles) and three RBI was a game-winning RBI-double in the 10th. He followed that up Sunday with a 2x4 outing and two RBI against Mexico. Mean- while, in Miami, Christian Yelich was 2x4 with a double and an RBI in a 7-5 loss by the United States against the Dominican Republic on Saturday, then 2x5 with two runs scored in Sunday’s 8-0 win over Canada to clinch a spot in Pool F play in San Diego. Prado is batting .438 for the tournament, with three doubles and five RBI, while Yelich is batting .500 with two doubles and an RBI. Meanwhile,Edinson Volquez, who tossed 4.1 scoreless innings last night against Venezuela, has allowed just one earned run over 8.0 innings in WBC action. WBC ROCKED MIAMI: First-round World Baseball Classic action in Miami was a big success last week. A total of 163,878 fans attended the six games held at Marlins Park, an average of 27,313 per game. According to Major League Baseball, that is the highest first-round attendance total at an Ameri- can venue in WBC history. There were two sellouts last week in Miami: the Dominican Republic/United States game on Saturday night (37,446) and the Dominican Republic/Colombia game on Sunday (36,952). The attendance for the DR/US game on Saturday set a Marlins Park record. ALL-STAR GAME COMES TO MIAMI: The Marlins will host the Midsummer Classic for the first time in club history when the Midsummer Classic comes to Marlins Park on July 11. All-Star week festivities will begin on July 7 and continue through the final weekend of the first half and into the All-Star break. FanFest will kick off at the Miami Beach Convention Center on July 7 and run through July 11; Marlins Park will host All-Star Sunday on July 9, featuring the Sirius XM All-Star Futures Game and the All-Star Legends & Celebrity Softball Game; the T-Mobile Home Run Derby will take place at Marlins Park on July 10; and the week will conclude with the 88th MLB All-Star Game on July 11. YOUR RADIO HOME FOR MARLINS’ BASEBALL: Once again in 2017 the Marlins home on the radio dial will be WINZ 940 AM, which will broadcast all 162 games in the regular season and 15 Spring Training contests. In addition, all 162 regular season and 15 Spring Training games can be heard on 940’s partner station, 94.9 HD2 in 2017. Hall of Fame broadcaster Dave Van Horne and Glenn Geffner will return to the broadcast booth for their 10th season together. For all Spanish listeners, Hall-of-Famer Felo Ramirez and Yiky Quintana will call all 162 regular season games in what is the duo’s 16th season together, and 10th on the Marlins flagship Spanish station, WAQI 710 AM. In addition to select games on the Marlins Radio Network, fans will also have the opportunity to listen to 10 games exclusively on MLB.com.
