He went 14-8 with LHP Kyle Lobstein a 3.76 ERA in 31 starts (34 games) for Cincinnati last season. Miami acquired Straily from Cincinnati in exchange for RHP LHP Matt Tomshaw , RHP , and OF Isaiah White on January 19. LHP Jarlin Garcia RHP Javy Guerra LOOKING AHEAD: Miami hits the road for the first time this spring tomorrow, traveling to Fort Myers to take on the Min- nesota Twins at Hammond Stadium. The clubs split their 2016 Grapefruit League set, 1-1, with the Fish winning in Fort Myers on March 11 (6-5) and the Twinkies winning an 8-4 game in Jupiter on March 24.

YESTERDAY’S GAME: The Marlins opened their Grapefruit League schedule with an 8-7 win over the St. Louis Cardinals. Miami had three-run innings in the third and fifth, overcoming a deficit in both frames. A two-run homer forChristian Yelich and a solo shot by Justin Bour fueled the third-inning rally. Matt den Dekker had a two-run pinch-hit single in the fifth, andTyler Moore homered in the seventh.

OFFSEASON PACKAGES: The Marlins hit the free-agent market hard this offseason with several key signings, as well as additions via trade. RHP Edinson Volquez was the first addition to the roster, signing a two-year contract on December 1. He was followed by the signings of C A.J. Ellis (one year), LHP Jeff Locke (one year) and RHP Dustin McGowan (one year) on Dec. 12. The bullpen was strengthened on Dec. 16 with the signing of RHP Junichi Tazawa to a two-year deal, and a week later, Brad Ziegler was also awarded a two-year deal. The last offseason acquisition was RHP Dan Straily, who was brought in from Cincinnati on January 19.

SILVER AND GOLD: This past offseason, Christian Yelich added a Silver Slugger award to his growing list of career accolades after batting .298 (172x578) with 38 doubles, 21 home runs and 98 RBI in 155 games. The left-handed hitting Yelich was the first Marlins outfielder to earn a Silver Slugger award since Giancarlo Stanton in 2014, and eighth Marlins player to do so overall (11th time). He set career-bests in games played, hits, doubles, home runs, RBI and walks (72) in 2016. In addition to his most recent award, Yelich earned a Rawlings® Gold Glove in left field in 2014 with a .992 fielding percentage (279 TC/2 E).

CURRENT ROSTER: Miami opened camp with 63 players, including a full 40-man roster and 23 non-roster invitees. The roster consists of 33 (10 NRIs); 20 right-handers (five NRIs) and 13 left-handers (five NRIs). There are nine catchers (five NRIs), 11 infielders (four NRIs) and 10 outfielders (four NRIs).

2017 WORLD CLASSIC SCHEDULE: The World Baseball Classic returns to Miami once again this spring, as Marlins Park will play host to Pool C in first round action from March 9-13. Pool C pits Canada , Colombia, the Dominican Republic, and the United States against each other. Games begin on March 9 with the Dominican Republic hosting Canada (6:00 p.m.), and continue on March 10 with the United States hosting Colombia (6:00 p.m.). Games 3 & 4 will take place on March 11, with Canada hosting Colombia at 12:00 and the Dominican hosting the U.S. at 6:30. Games 5 & 6 will take place on March 12, with Colombia hosting the Dominican at 12:30, and the U.S. hosting Canada at 7:00. If necessary, a tiebreaker game will be held on March 13 at 6:00.

PATRIOTIC DUTY: Six players in Major League camp with the Marlins will be representing their native country at the World Baseball Classic this March. OutfieldersGiancarlo Stanton and Christian Yelich will play for the United States, as will catcher A.J. Ellis. InfielderMartín Prado will suit up for Venezuela, starting pitcher Edinson Volquez will climb the bump for the Dominican Republic, and will pitch for Colombia.

ALL-STAR GAME COMES TO MIAMI: The Marlins will host the Midsummer Classic for the first time in club history when the Midsummer Classic comes to Marlins Park on July 11. All-Star week festivities will begin on July 7 and continue through the final weekend of the first half and into the All-Star break. FanFest will kick off at the Miami Beach Convention Center on July 7 and run through July 11; Marlins Park will host All-Star Sunday on July 9, featuring the Sirius XM All-Star Futures Game and the All-Star Legends & Celebrity Softball Game; the T-Mobile Derby will take place at Marlins Park on July 10; and the week will conclude with the 88th MLB All-Star Game on July 11.

YOUR RADIO HOME FOR MARLINS’ BASEBALL: Once again in 2017 the Marlins home on the radio dial will be WINZ 940 AM, which will broadcast all 162 games in the regular season and 15 Spring Training contests. In addition, all 162 regular season and 15 Spring Training games can be heard on 940’s partner station, 94.9 HD2 in 2017. Hall of Fame broadcaster Dave Van Horne and Glenn Geffner will return to the broadcast booth for their 10th season together. For all Spanish listeners, Hall-of-Famer Felo Ramirez and Yiky Quintana will call all 162 regular season games in what is the duo’s 16th season together, and 10th on the Marlins flagship Spanish station, WAQI 710 AM. FOX SPORTS FLORIDA BROADCAST INFORMATION: This season, the Marlins will have 150 games broadcast by FOX Sports Florida, all of which will be available in HD. The 2017 campaign kicks off on April 3rd, when the Fish pay a visit to the . The home opener will be April 11th, when the Marlins host the at 7:10pm. Rich Waltz will call all the action alongside former Marlin Todd Hollandsworth; they will be joined throughout the season by Preston Wilson, Craig Minervini and Jessica Blaylock, as well as former Marlin Jeff Conine. All home games broadcast on FOX Sports Florida will be broadcast with SAP, and as in previous years, fans will recognize Raul Striker, Jr. calling the action in Spanish.
