New York is 2-0 thus far, with a 3-1 win on February 28 here in Jupiter and an 11-6 win in Port St. Lucie on March 2. The clubs meet eight times this TODAY’S PITCHING LINEUP spring, next on March 13 at First Data Field. Today’s game can be heard in English on WINZ 940 AM and 94.9 HD2. RHP Edinson Volquez RHP Drew Steckenrider TODAY’S STARTING PITCHER: Right-hander Edinson Volquez is making his second start (third appearance) of the spring LHP Nick Maronde today. His last appearance was out of the bullpen on March 1 at West Palm Beach against the Astros, when he al- RHP Tayron Guerrero lowed one hit and one walk in 2.0 innings. LHP Kelvin Marté LOOKING AHEAD: The Marlins will play at Roger Dean Stadium for the third straight day tomorrow, this time as the road team against St. Louis. Right- hander Tom Koehler is scheduled to start for the Fish; in two appearances (one start) this spring, he is 1-0 and has allowed one run on two hits and two walks over 3.0 innings, with two strikeouts. YESTERDAY’S GAME: The Marlins held a 7-3 lead over the Astros in the ninth, but the contest ended in a 7-7 tie after Miami surrendered four runs in Houston’s final at-bat. A two-run double byMartín Prado gave Miami a 2-1 lead in the third; after falling behind, 3-2, Adeiny Hechavarria took the lead back in the sixth with a three-run homer. A solo homer by Tyler Moore, his third of the spring, in the seventh, and a ground out by Miguel Rojas in the eighth extended the lead to 7-3. Wei-Yin Chen started and tossed 2.0 perfect innings. GRAPEFRUIT LEAGUE LEADERS: Entering Monday, the Marlins have several players among the Grapefruit League leaders in offense; Miguel Rojas and Christian Yelich are tied with two others for the lead in RBI (7); Yelich is second in batting average (.471), tied for second in on-base percentage (.500), and third in slugging (.941); Martín Prado is tied for second in on-base percentage (.500) and sixth in slugging (.588); and Tyler Moore is tied for the lead in home runs (3). WBC UPDATE: The Marlins announced last week that over 130,000 tickets have been sold for the six first-round World Baseball Classic games scheduled to take place at Marlins Park from March 9-12, and that the March 11 game between the Dominican Republic and United States has sold out. Marlins Park will play host to Pool C action between Canada, Colombia, the Dominican Republic, and the United States. Games begin on March 9 with the Dominican Republic hosting Canada (6:00 p.m.), and continue on March 10 with the United States hosting Colombia (6:00 p.m.). Games 3 & 4 will take place on March 11, with Canada hosting Colombia at 12:00 and the Dominican Republic hosting the U.S. at 6:30. Games 5 & 6 will take place on March 12, with Colombia hosting the Dominican Republic at 12:30, and the U.S. hosting Canada at 7:00. If necessary, a tiebreaker game will be held on March 13 at 6:00. Tickets to the other five games of Pool C play are still available at www.marlins.com/WBC. CURRENT ROSTER: Miami opened camp with 63 players, including a full 40-man roster and 23 non-roster invitees. The roster consists of 33 pitchers (10 NRIs); 20 right-handers (five NRIs) and 13 left-handers (five NRIs). There are nine catchers (five NRIs), 11 infielders (four NRIs) and 10 outfielders (four NRIs). PATRIOTIC DUTY: Five players in Major League camp with the Marlins will be representing their native country at the World Baseball Classic this week. OutfieldersGiancarlo Stanton and Christian Yelich will play for the United States; catcher A.J. Ellis was scheduled to join them, but has withdrawn due to a hamstring strain. InfielderMartín Prado will suit up for Venezuela, starting pitcher Edinson Volquez will climb the bump for the Dominican Republic, and Tayron Guerrero will pitch for Colombia. ALL-STAR GAME COMES TO MIAMI: The Marlins will host the Midsummer Classic for the first time in club history when the Midsummer Classic comes to Marlins Park on July 11. All-Star week festivities will begin on July 7 and continue through the final weekend of the first half and into the All-Star break. FanFest will kick off at the Miami Beach Convention Center on July 7 and run through July 11; Marlins Park will host All-Star Sunday on July 9, featuring the Sirius XM All-Star Futures Game and the All-Star Legends & Celebrity Softball Game; the T-Mobile Home Run Derby will take place at Marlins Park on July 10; and the week will conclude with the 88th MLB All-Star Game on July 11. OFFSEASON PACKAGES: The Marlins hit the free-agent market hard this offseason with several key signings, as well as additions via trade. RHP Edinson Volquez was the first addition to the roster, signing a two-year contract on December 1. He was followed by the signings of C A.J. Ellis (one year), LHP Jeff Locke (one year) and RHP Dustin McGowan (one year) on Dec. 12. The bullpen was strengthened on Dec. 16 with the signing of RHP Junichi Tazawa to a two-year deal, and a week later, Brad Ziegler was also awarded a two-year deal. The last offseason acquisition was RHP Dan Straily, who was brought in from Cincinnati on January 19. YOUR RADIO HOME FOR MARLINS’ BASEBALL: Once again in 2017 the Marlins home on the radio dial will be WINZ 940 AM, which will broadcast all 162 games in the regular season and 15 Spring Training contests. In addition, all 162 regular season and 15 Spring Training games can be heard on 940’s partner station, 94.9 HD2 in 2017. Hall of Fame broadcaster Dave Van Horne and Glenn Geffner will return to the broadcast booth for their 10th season together. For all Spanish listeners, Hall-of-Famer Felo Ramirez and Yiky Quintana will call all 162 regular season games in what is the duo’s 16th season together, and 10th on the Marlins flagship Spanish station, WAQI 710 AM. In addition to select games on the Marlins Radio Network, fans will also have the opportunity to listen to 10 games exclusively on MLB.com. FOX SPORTS FLORIDA BROADCAST INFORMATION: This season, the Marlins will have 150 games broadcast by FOX Sports Florida, all of which will be available in HD. The 2017 campaign kicks off on April 3rd, when the Fish pay a visit to the Washington Nationals. The home opener will be April 11th, when the Marlins host the Atlanta Braves at 7:10pm. Rich Waltz will call all the action alongside former Marlin Todd Hollandsworth; they will be joined throughout the season by Preston Wilson, Craig Minervini and Jessica Blaylock, as well as former Marlin Jeff Conine. All home games broadcast on FOX Sports Florida will be broadcast with SAP, and as in previous years, fans will recognize Raul Striker, Jr. calling the action in Spanish. MARLINS CREDENTIALS: All media members requesting a daily credential must do so using MLB’s online credential system, located at https://creden- tials.mlb.com. Daily credentials for regular season games must be requested at least 24 hours in advance. Once a decision on approval is made, the requesting party will receive e-mail correspondence from the Marlins. If you are not contacted by someone from our office, please call at least one day in advance to confirm that your credentials before arriving at Marlins Park.
