Barnsley Admission to School Guide
Admission to school 2021-2022 Advice to parents BARNSLEY Metropolitan Borough Council Foreword Choosing a school for your child is an important decision. Whether primary or secondary this marks a significant milestone in every child’s life and the lives of their parents/carers. The aim of the People Directorate is to ensure that the process of obtaining a place in school for your child goes as smoothly as possible for your family. Barnsley has one of the highest success rates in the country in matching children to their preferred schools and want to continue to provide parents with the best chance of getting the school they want for their child. Prior to making your choice there are arrangements in place within all schools for parents and children to find out more about them either online or by visiting the schools in order to look around and talk to a member of staff. Once a place is offered and before your child starts school there will be further opportunities to visit the school of your preference and become familiar with the teaching staff. Education is a key priority for everyone and the local authority remain committed to working together to ensure all our children obtain the best education possible. We look forward to working with you and your children in the coming years to help them to achieve their full potential.
