Σιμόπουλου Η σημερινή εκδήλωση αποτελεί τον επίλογο της πέμπτης χρονιάς της λειτουργίας του μεταπτυχιακού προγράμματος «Περιβάλλον και Ανάπτυξη των Ορεινών Περιοχών» του Εθνικού Μετσόβιου Πολυτεχνείου. Το συγκεκριμένο μεταπτυχιακό πρόγραμμα γεννήθηκε και αναπτύσσεται στα δύσκολα χρόνια της πολυεπίπεδης κρίσης που η χώρα μας βιώνει. Παρά τα μεγάλα προβλήματα, τα οποία απειλούν ζωτικές λειτουργίες του μεγαλύτερου τεχνολογικού ιδρύματος της χώρας, το Εθνικό Μετσόβιο Πολυτεχνείο δεν παύει να επιτελεί τον κοινωνικό του ρόλο, δεν περιορίζεται σε μια εσωστρεφή, αμυντική διαδικασία επούλωσης πληγών. Από μόνο του το στοιχείο αυτό αποτελεί ένα αισιόδοξο μήνυμα που το Ε.Μ.Π. στέλνει στην κοινωνία. Το Εθνικό Μετσόβιο Πολυτεχνείο γεννήθηκε από το περίσσευμα πατριωτισμού και διάθεσης για κοινωνική προσφορά πετυχημένων ανθρώπων με καταγωγή από τις ορεινές περιοχές, των ευεργετών από το Μέτσοβο. Έτσι σήμερα, επιστρέφει μέρος του χρέους του με τη συστηματική ανάπτυξη ακαδημαϊκών δραστηριοτήτων του σε σχέση με τις ορεινές περιοχές. Περιοχές, οι οποίες στη συγκεκριμένη συγκυρία υποφέρουν διπλά, τόσο από τα χρόνια προβλήματά τους όσο και από τον περαιτέρω περιορισμό των διαθέσιμων πόρων λόγω της κρίσης. Σε αυτές τις περιοχές, η προώθηση και εφαρμογή λύσεων επιστημονικής και τεχνολογικής αιχμής έχει μεγάλη προστιθέμενη αξία για τις τοπικές κοινωνίες. Αλλά η σχέση που αναπτύσσεται είναι αμφίδρομη. Το Ε.Μ.Π., παράλληλα, διδάσκεται από τις ορεινές περιοχές. Αντλεί διδάγματα από τη μελέτη τους, ιδιαίτερα από τη μακραίωνη αντοχή και προσαρμοστικότητα των τοπικών κοινωνιών στις δυσκολίες και προσπαθεί να τα μετουσιώνει σε βασικά στοιχεία συμπεριφοράς, προκειμένου να βοηθηθεί η ελληνική κοινωνία στο ξεπέρασμα των συνεπειών της κρίσης. Η περιοχή του Ζαγορίου είναι, χωρίς αμφιβολία, ένας μοναδικός τόπος με φυσικά τοπία ιδιαίτερου κάλλους, πλούσια βιοποικιλότητα και οικισμούς που διατηρούν ανέπαφο τον παραδοσιακό τους χαρακτήρα. Η περιοχή αποτελεί εδώ και αρκετά χρόνια πόλο έλξης για μεγάλο αριθμό επισκεπτών. Ο τουριστικός τομέας αποτελεί την κύρια παραγωγική δραστηριότητα της τοπικής κοινωνίας. Η συνεχιζόμενη κρίση, όμως, αποτελεί μείζονα απειλή, και για την τουριστική δραστηριότητα. Γι’ αυτό είναι απαραίτητο, αξιοποιώντας τους πόρους της περιοχής και ενισχύνοντας το ανθρώπινο δυναμικό της, να ανοίξουν εναλλακτικοί δρόμοι ανάπτυξης για το Δήμο Ζαγορίου. Επίσης, πρέπει να υπάρξει κατάλληλη προσαρμογή της βασικής οικονομικής μηχανής του, του τουρισμού. Πιστεύουμε ότι τα αποτελέσματα των ερευνών που παρουσιάζονται στη σημερινή ημερίδα θα αποτελέσουν χρήσιμο οδηγό για την τοπική κοινωνία, προκειμένου αυτή να προσαρμοστεί στις νέες συνθήκες και να πορευτεί επιτυχώς. Η Πρυτανεία του Εθνικού Μετσόβιου Πολυτεχνείου, με τη σταθερή της παρουσία και στήριξη στο μεταπτυχιακό πρόγραμμα «Περιβάλλον και Ανάπτυξη των Ορεινών Περιοχών», δείχνει το ενδιαφέρον και την αποφασιστικότητά της για τη συνέχιση της δημιουργικής πορείας ενός ισχυρού πυρήνα ανάπτυξης για την ορεινή Ελλάδα. Πιστεύουμε ακράδαντα ότι η δημόσια παιδεία αποτελεί, ειδικά σε κρίσιμες περιόδους, όπως η τρέχουσα, προωθητική δύναμη για τη χάραξη πραγματικών διεξόδων και λύσεων ανάπτυξης, και όχι περιττό βάρος για την κοινωνία. Ενώνουμε τις προσπάθειές μας με αυτές των σπουδαστών μας, στοχεύοντας να είμαστε κοντά στους ανθρώπους των βουνών. 1 Θεωρώ υποχρέωσή μου να ευχαριστήσω για μια ακόμη φορά και εφέτος όπως ακριβώς έκανα στο παρελθόν και με τα ίδιες ακριβώς λέξεις, τον εμπνευστή της εξωστρέφειας του Μεταπτυχιακού αυτού Προγράμματος, το Συνάδελφο Δημήτρη Καλιαμπάκο. Ο,τι γίνεται εδώ αυτές τις μέρες, αλλά και η σκληρή προεργασία μιας ολόκληρης χρονιάς – κάθε χρονιάς – οφείλεται σε εκείνον και τους Συνεργάτες του. Εύχομαι καλή επιτυχία στις εργασίες της ημερίδας. Πιστεύω ότι μπορεί να αποτελέσει την αφορμή για ένα γόνιμο διάλογο με τους κατοίκους και τους φορείς της περιοχής του Ζαγορίου, από τον οποίο θα προκύψουν ιδέες και δρόμοι προς ένα καλύτερο μέλλον τόσο για τους κατοίκους του Ζαγορίου όσο και για την ορεινή Ελλάδα, γενικότερα. 2 Η συμβολή του Ε.Μ.Π. στην ολοκληρωμένη ανάπτυξη του Ζαγορίου Χαιρετισμός Περιφερειάρχη Ηπείρου, Αλέξανδρου Καχριμάνη Φέτος συμπληρώνονται είκοσι χρόνια από την απόφαση του Ε.Μ.Π. να ιδρύσει στο Μέτσοβο το Μετσόβιο Κέντρο Διεπιστημονικής Έρευνας, ως μια μικρή ανταπόδοση του χρέους του, προς τους Ιδρυτές και Ευεργέτες του. Η επέτειος συνδυάζεται με την επέκταση της δράσης του σε ολόκληρο σχεδόν τον βασικό ορεινό όγκο της Ηπείρου. Είναι γεγονός ότι τα πρώτα χρόνια λειτουργία

Most of the stone bridges are no longer used; some are located in remote and inaccessible mountainous locations, while few are still offering their services for the passage of people, animals and vehicles over rivers and streams. The technique of bridges has been developed in Greece since ancient times, with a different but every-time style of construction.     GOOD VISITORS HANDBOOK OF THE NORTHERN PINDOS NATIONAL PARK THE NATIONAL PARK AND ITS PROTECTED ZONES The National Park The Northern Pindos National Park was established in 2005, covering an area of approximately 2.000 km2. It includes ecosystems of great ecological value, as it has actually become a shelter for many rare and endangered species of wild fauna and flora. Over 2,000 species of plants and about 300 species of vertebrates have been recorded at the 30 different types of habitats in the National Park, with prominent species the bear, the chamois, the otter, the golden eagle, the Egyptian vulture and more. Unique landscapes of unsurpassed natural beauty, dominate throughout the National Park, which includes two National Parks those of Vikos - Aoos and Pindos (Valia Kalda), 11 sites of the European network of protected areas «Natura 2000», as well as 11 Wildlife Refuges. In addition, one more area is designated as a Landscape of Outstanding Natural Beauty (Mount Orliakas), while the core of Valia Kalda is a Biogenetic Reserve. Finally, the westernmost section of the Park has been included in the European and Global Geopark Network, under the name «Vikos - Aoos Geopark». Aoos gorge The National Park protected zones Within the limits of the Northern Pindos National Park protected area, two protection zones that provide tighter restrictions, regarding the protection of their ecosystems, have been designated. More specifically, the three cores of the National Park, which are the Vikos gorge and the Aoos gorge in the west and Valia Kalda in the east, have been designated as Nature Protection Areas (Zone I).
