60326 1/32 scale – super detail model History The "Wooden Wonder" makes an appearance in highly impressive 1/32 scale! That was the nickname given to the De Havilland Mosquito series of aircraft, an ingenious and beautiful design which saw the versatile airplane made almost entirely of wood. By the late 1930s, when design work on the Mosquito started, metal was the overwhelmingly favoured medium. However, the Mosquito's designer foresaw that metal would become a precious resource in the probable war ahead; what was more, his highly lightweight wooden aircraft would be able to outrun heavier metal opponents. Constructed mainly from balsa wood sandwiched between sheets of birch, the Mosquito was originally designed as a weaponless bomber; once the armed forces and designers realized that the aircraft could withstand enemy fire even if it was caught, a number of variants were produced. The FB Mk.VI debuted in Spring 1943: this fighter-bomber variant packed four 7.7mm machine guns in the nose, plus four powerful 20mm auto cannons and the ability to mount four 500lb bombs. Its outstanding speed and range ensured that the FB Mk.VI was used in a range of missions, including raids on important targets and infrastructure in the German homeland. It is often said that, until the advent of the Messerschmitt Me262, the German Luftwaffe did not have an adequate response to the "Mossie." Features • This is a 1/32 scale plastic model assembly kit. • At 515mm in wingspan, this masterpiece captures the elegant twin- engine form of the FB Mk.VI with astounding detail.

CRANFIELD UNIVERSITY WESLEY LINTON ANALYSIS OF TORSIONAL STIFFNESS AND DESIGN IMPROVEMENT STUDY OF A KIT CAR CHASSIS PROTOTYPE SCHOOL OF INDUSTRIAL AND MANUFACTURING SCIENCE MSc THESIS CRANFIELD UNIVERSITY SCHOOL OF INDUSTRIAL AND MANUFACTURING SCIENCE MOTORSPORT ENGINEERING AND MANAGEMENT MSc THESIS Academic year 2001-2 Wesley Linton Analysis of Torsional Stiffness and Design Improvement Study of a Kit Car Prototype Supervisor: Mr. Jason Brown September 2002 This thesis is submitted in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Science © Cranfield University 2002. All rights reserved. No part of this publication may be reproduced without the written permission of the copyright owner. Wesley Linton Abstract The Luego prototype chassis was tested to determine the value of its global torsional stiffness. This value was calculated to be 1330Nm/deg. This value was to be improved upon by the following method: • Creation of a Finite element baseline validation model • Discussed modification of this model • A design improvement study • An optimisation study The creation of a Finite Element baseline validation model using MSC Patran/Nastran software compared favourably with the physical test results with a torsional stiffness value of 1352Nm/deg for a mass of 120.1Kg and an efficiency of 88g/Nm/deg. The discussed modifications had been suggested to Luego upon initial appraisal of the chassis were incorporated into this baseline model and resulted in increases in both torsional stiffness and efficiency. Further, the design improvement study performed resulted in a maximum torsional stiffness of 6448Nm/deg, an increase of 377% over the baseline model. A maximum increase in efficiency of 286% to 23g/Nm/deg for a mass of 148.3Kg accompanied this increase in torsional stiffness.

  • The Ex-Alan Stacey, Works 1959 Lotus 15 Chassis No. 621-3 Engine No
! The Ex-Alan Stacey, Works 1959 Lotus 15 Chassis No. 621-3 Engine No. 1097 • Driven with notable success for Team Lotus by Alan Stacey during the 1959 season. • According to a leading historian to have potentially been taken to Le Mans in 1959 as a spare car or even a second entry. • Sold to New Zealand in 1959 where it continued a well documented and successful racing career on into the 1970’s. • Driven to an impressive 7th in the 1960 New Zealand Grand Prix by Jim Palmer, in the company of Moss, Mclaren and Brabham, all in 2.5-litre Cooper Grand Prix cars. • Re-imported into the UK by respected historic racer and collector Spencer Flack. • Raced with great success by its current owner since 2008, with numerous wins, overall class victory in the Stirling Moss Trophy 2009, 2010 and 2011, 2nd in the Madgwick Cup and a 5th in the Sussex Trophy at the Goodwood Revival and an impressive 2nd overall in the hard fought Plateaux 3 at Peter Auto’s Le Mans Classic. • Meticulously prepared by one of the most respected names in historic racing with no expense spared, having seen little or no miles since its last refresh. • This is an incredibly rare opportunity to acquire such an original and well regarded Ex-Works Lotus and an absolute proven front running ‘50s Sports Car. To many, the 1950s saw sportscar racing at its most pure, establishing and creating some of the most influential car manufacturers for the decades to follow. By the mid to late 1950’s the tides of sports car design were starting to turn and pave the way for things to come.

  • 1962 Lotus 24 BRM Chassis No. 946
! 1962 Lotus 24 BRM Chassis No. 946 • Immaculately presented following an exquisite restoration by marque expert Peter Denty Racing. Limited mileage has been accumulated since, with notable outings in the Glover Trophy at the last three editions of the Goodwood Revival. • Following a convincing Pole position at Brands Hatch this year with the HGPCA, this 1,500cc BRM V8 powered Lotus 24 led away from the start in the recent Glover Trophy race and featured strongly before finishing 3rd against stiff competition. • With 2015 FIA HTPs, this Lotus 24 will make an excellent entry to one of the most emotive grids in historic motorsport, racing on some of the best circuits across Europe. By 1962, Lotus had made a strong name for themselves in the world of Formula 1, and were becoming a force to be reckoned with. This came about with Colin Chapman’s Lotus 18 of 1960, which marked a change in formula car design. The low and sleek 18 was the first Lotus to feature a mid mounted engine instead of the traditional front mounted layout as in the Lotus 16 which went before, and subsequently gains were found in chassis design, weight and stiffness. Initially the new Lotus 18 ran with a 2,497cc Coventry Climax FPF four cylinder engine and the so called ‘Lotus Queerbox’ magnesium cased sequential transaxle which further contributed to the weight advantage that the Lotus 18 held. Success was yielded in its debut season with two World Championship victories for Rob Walker Racing and Stirling Moss. T. + 44 (0)1285 831 488 E.
