About Dawn Wilber, Menominee:

Dawn is committed to protecting the Menominee River, (the River that gave them life) and the Wolf River, (the River that now sustains their life.) She has participated in many Interstate bridge walks, Water walks and a 4 day canoe excursion down the Menominee River. She has visited many counties in NE Wisconsin drumming up support for the Menominee River. She is Co-organizer for public tours and has guided her students on tours of the Menominee’s Sacred Sites along the River. She went to support Standing Rock and in 2019 co-organized a Youth trip to the UN Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues to NYC where they spoke up for the Menominee River. In 2016 she met Nokomis Josephine-Ba Mandamin. She continues her work for the water, and is making plans for future walks. She is a Co-organizer and Board member of a Grassroots organization, Menikanaehkem̄ on the Menominee Rez and credits them for a lot of this work also.
